California hard rockers Buckcherry have released the official live video for “Blackout,” filmed in July 2025 at the Rock The Mountains festival in Cumberland, Maryland. The clip was shot and edited by Chris Aleshire.

“Blackout” is taken from Buckcherry’s latest album, Roar Like Thunder, released in June 2025 via Round Hill Records in North America, Sony Music in Japan and Earache Records elsewhere. As with 2023’s Vol. 10 and 2021’s Hellbound, the album was recorded at Sienna Studios in Nashville and produced by Marti Frederiksen, whose credits include Aerosmith, Def Leppard, Jonny Lang and Sheryl Crow. All 10 tracks were written by vocalist Josh Todd, guitarist Stevie Dacanay (a.k.a. Stevie D.) and Frederiksen.

Buckcherry has announced the final dates of the Roar Like Thunder tour for 2026. The second leg opens June 26 in West Fargo, North Dakota and runs through July 25 in Pueblo, Colorado, with stops including a July 2 appearance at Summerfest in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and a July 12 date at the Rockin’ Thunder festival in Edmonton, Alberta, opening for Creed. Additional highlights include nine shows with Black Stone Cherry and Tyler Bryant, an appearance at the Rockin’ The Island festival in Welch, Minnesota supporting Stone Temple Pilots, a stop at the Beaver Dam Amphitheater in Beaver Dam, Kentucky supporting Bret Michaels, the band’s annual slot at the legendary Sturgis Buffalo Chip during Sturgis Bike Week, and an appearance at Rocklahoma in Pryor, Oklahoma. The year concludes with eight dates supporting the Scorpions during their Las Vegas, Nevada residency, Sept. 17 through Oct. 3.

Buckcherry’s current lineup features Todd — the only remaining original member — alongside Dacanay (guitar, backing vocals), Billy Rowe (guitar, backing vocals), Kelly LeMieux (bass) and Francis Ruiz (drums). Dacanay joined during the band’s 2005 revival and helped shape the comeback album 15, which produced hits “Crazy Bitch” and “Sorry.”

Deep Purple drummer Ian Paice has revealed that the band is already discussing the possibility of recording another studio album in 2027, even as their 86-show world tour for the upcoming Splat! (July 3, earMUSIC) gets underway. Paice made the comments in a new interview with the Rockonteurs podcast.

After co-host Gary Kemp quoted producer Bob Ezrin expressing hope to continue working with Deep Purple for “a very long time,” Paice said (transcribed by Blabbermouth): “Well, that’s already being discussed for [2027]. This [2026] is a heavy touring year — it’s almost 100 shows or something — so next year won’t be the same. You can’t keep doing it that way. So if you have any ideas, making a record’s easy. If you don’t have ideas, making a record’s impossible. So getting together, and if we find we have some ideas we all like, there’s no reason why we shouldn’t put together another record sometime next year. It’s all about ideas. You can be an actor, but if the guy hasn’t written a screenplay, you’ve got nothing to say.”

Asked how Deep Purple approaches writing in its current configuration, Paice described a process of spontaneous group improvisation: “Everybody comes in with a couple of basic notions of something that they probably woke up in the middle of the night and said, ‘Oh, that sounds good.’ And one person will start something. Now, if it’s interesting, the other guys will join in. If it’s not interesting, there’s a deathly silence and somebody else starts something. The amazing thing with the whole process is you go in in the morning and you’ve got nothing, and you come out after five, six hours’ work and you got two or three really nice somethings. And that’s what keeps it working for the next day. You don’t get three good ideas every day — the first day, all these things you’ve had loitering in your mind, they come to the fore. But after 10 days, you’ve probably got more than you can put on an album in the way of ideas, and then you gotta separate the wheat from the chaff.”

Paice stressed the importance of capturing every moment during writing sessions: “You capture everything. ‘Cause you may only play something once as a jam, and it’s gone. So if you’ve caught it and say, ‘Well, there was something good five minutes ago,’ you take that and you see if you can go further with it. It’s always been that way. We never had one dedicated songwriter. So it becomes out of the influence of the five people.” He also offered a candid take on how initial excitement curdles into doubt: “When you start something, everything you do is the best thing that’s ever been written, ‘cause you’re all excited about it. The next day you go, ‘What a piece of crap.’” Paice noted that singer Ian Gillan plays a distinct role in the early writing phase: “Initially the four [instrumentalists work out the music], because Ian’s there noting all the atmosphere and what the emotions of it are.”

Splat! is Deep Purple’s sixth consecutive collaboration with producer Bob Ezrin, who has helmed every Purple album since 2013’s Now What?! The album has been described in press materials as “the heaviest Deep Purple album in many years.” Two singles have been released: “Diablo,” which features a guest appearance by guitarist and singer Keith Urban, and “Arrogant Boy.” Uncut calls Splat! “distilled, high-octane Purple at its finest,” while Classic Rock praises the album for delivering “everything that makes Deep Purple one of the greatest acts in hard rock.” The concept was conceived by Gillan and imagines the end of humanity not as destruction but as metamorphosis — a transformation beyond physical existence.

Deep Purple recently kicked off a major European summer run, beginning in Finland and moving through Norway, France, Germany, Spain, Switzerland and Italy before the Splat! world tour heads to North America. The full touring schedule encompasses 86 shows across 28 countries. With more than 120 million albums sold since forming in 1968, Deep Purple are among the founding forces of hard rock and heavy metal.

Polish extreme metal legends, Behemoth, unleash “I, Scvlptor”, the first single from their new studio release, I, Scvlptor. The music video was produced by the acclaimed Polish production collective Grupa 13, while the cover artwork and design were created by long-time Behemoth collaborator Bartek Rogalewicz/Lodge.Black.

Nergal commented on the new single: “’I, Scvlptor’ is a new Behemoth song rooted in the tradition of monumental tracks like ‘O Father O Satan O Sun!’, ‘Lucifer’ or ‘Nieboga Czarny Xiądz’, while at the same time opening a new chapter. It carries that epic weight but also takes an unexpected turn that makes it feel fresh and different from the previous pieces. Lyrically, it is a metaphor for the endless process of shaping oneself – an uneven struggle with matter and personal limitations. The paradox is that from the moment we are born we are already destined to die, so perhaps it is not about victory itself, but about the constant act of sculpting who we are”.

I, Scvlptor, which will be out on September 04, 2026, is an exclusive release featuring eight previously unreleased songs – seven new studio recordings and one live track. It is an autonomous body of work that bridges the band’s foundational past with their present creative fire. The release features brand-new studio material embodying the full force of Behemoth‘s live energy and intensity. Iron Maiden‘s June 22 performance at Paris’s La Défense Arena will serve as the backdrop for a professionally filmed and recorded concert feature tied to the band’s ongoing Run For Your Lives tour.

To assist with the production, the British metal veterans will implement a phone-free policy for fans in the standing/general admission section. The measure will use Yondr pouches, lockable storage devices designed to prevent concertgoers from accessing their phones during performances while still keeping the devices in their possession.

In a message shared on social media, Iron Maiden explained the decision: “Tomorrow’s show at La Défense Arena will use Yondr pouches to make the standing/General Admission floor entirely phone-free while we record the ‘Run For Your Lives’ Tour film. This will enable us to create the optimal viewing experience for our fans on release and a unique viewing experience for our standing fans in Paris.

“If you have a standing ticket, your device will be locked in the pouch on arrival and unlocked when you leave at the end of the night.

“Bring a physical payment card to use at the bars and merch stands.

“There are areas within the arena where you will be able to access your phone for emergencies.

“Your pouch will stay with you for the duration of the show – no one else will be handling your device.

“Head to the venue early to make sure everything goes smoothly.

“This is ONLY for the standing area at tomorrow’s show. No other show will use Yondr pouches. This was declared when the tickets went on sale last year. Adjustments for disabled customers are available with proof of disability. Pouches can be unlocked in designated areas for you to access your phone should you need to.”

The policy applies only to the standing area of the Paris concert and is being introduced specifically for the filming of the upcoming tour movie.

Iron Maiden are not the only major act to adopt this approach. Tool have regularly asked audiences to keep phones out of sight until the closing song of their sets, creating a more focused concert environment.

The move also follows a similar policy introduced by Ghost during the band’s recently completed Skeletour, where attendees were required to experience the show without access to their phones.

With the Paris performance being documented for future release, Iron Maiden are aiming to capture both the band and the crowd in an environment free from raised screens, while giving fans in attendance a different live experience for one night only.

The throne that became closely associated with Ozzy Osbourne‘s final live appearance will soon be added to the Ozzy Osbourne: Working Class Hero exhibition at Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery.

Beginning July 1, 2026, visitors will be able to see the black gothic-style throne that was most recently used during the “Back To The Beginning” concert at Villa Park on July 5, 2025. The piece was originally created for Ozzy Osbourne‘s induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 2024 before becoming a central feature of his last performances, including Black Sabbath‘s farewell show.

Featuring details inspired by Ozzy Osbourne‘s career and imagery, including bat-wing designs, the throne arrives at the museum as fans prepare to mark one year since his passing on July 22, 2025.

The display is part of an exhibition dedicated to the Birmingham-born singer’s life, career and influence on rock and heavy metal. Alongside the throne, fans can view personal items, photographs and awards collected throughout his decades-long career. The exhibition traces Ozzy Osbourne‘s path from his early years in Aston to worldwide recognition as one of rock’s most recognizable figures.

Developed by Central BID Birmingham and Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery in partnership with the Osbourne family, the exhibition has proven highly popular since opening in June 2025. After two extensions and more than 640,000 visitors, it is now scheduled to run through September 27, 2026.

Sharon Osbourne commented: “As we approach the one-year anniversary of ‘Back To The Beginning’, it feels fitting that Ozzy‘s throne, which has now become synonymous with his final performance, would be placed in the museum, where it can be seen by the fans who loved him.”

Birmingham Museums Trust co-chief executives Sara Wajid and Zak Mensah stated: “We are delighted to be able to display Ozzy‘s throne at Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery. This extraordinary object is instantly recognizable to fans around the world and represents a powerful final chapter in Ozzy‘s remarkable career.

“As we mark the first anniversary of his passing, it offers visitors a special opportunity to come together, remember Ozzy and celebrate the legacy of a true Birmingham legend.”

Sam Watson, chair of Central BID Birmingham, discussed the effort to return the throne to the city: “Since the momentous ‘Back To The Beginning’ gig last year, Central BID has been working closely with the Osbourne family to bring Ozzy‘s throne back to Birmingham, so fans can see it up close and feel the spirit of Ozzy is still with everyone.

“We were determined to bring this iconic throne back to Ozzy‘s home city first, a place he loved so much and for his fans to be able to visit, and we are grateful to Sharon and her family for allowing us to make this happen.”

Birmingham City Council Cabinet Member for Culture Councillor Deborah Harries added: “Ozzy Osbourne is one of Birmingham’s most foremost cultural figures, and it is only right that we continue to honor his extraordinary legacy here in the city where his journey began.

“The return of his iconic throne to Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery gives fans and visitors a powerful new way to connect with his story at what is an emotional moment, marking a year since his passing.

“This exhibition has already welcomed hundreds of thousands of visitors and demonstrates the global pull of Birmingham’s musical heritage. Following Ozzy Osbourne‘s death, official records revealed he died from a heart attack. The documentation also noted coronary artery disease and Parkinson’s disease as contributing conditions.

A private funeral was held on July 31, 2025, at the Buckinghamshire estate purchased by Ozzy Osbourne and Sharon Osbourne in 1993. Around 110 relatives and close friends attended, including fellow Black Sabbath members as well as Robert Trujillo, Rob Zombie, Zakk Wylde, Marilyn Manson and Corey Taylor.

One day before the funeral, thousands of fans gathered throughout Birmingham to honor Ozzy Osbourne. Sharon Osbourne, together with Aimée, Kelly and Jack Osbourne, joined those paying tribute to the late heavy metal icon.

Triumph drummer/vocalist Gil Moore has confirmed that a second documentary about the band is in the works, this one centered on the Canadian hard rock trio’s recently completed 2026 comeback tour — their first in more than 30 years. Moore addressed the project in a recent interview with The Joel Martin Mastery Podcast.

Moore said (transcribed by Blabbermouth): “I’m not sure when it’ll come out, but it’s gonna be a documentary about the tour, about how the transformation happened, getting back together with Phil [X] and Todd [Kerns] and Brent [Fitz] and what it was like for Rik [Emmett] and I and Mike [Levine], and it’s gonna document it all, and I think it’s gonna be really exciting. It’s gonna be totally different than the first documentary, but I think it will provide an insight to fans about the behind-the-scenes, I’ll call it, of how this came together and why we do what we do.”

In a separate interview with WNST, Moore traced how the 2026 reunion came about. He explained that after Triumph originally split up, personal circumstances — caring for his mother after his father’s passing and being present for his children as they grew up — had kept him off the road. “I guess enough time’s gone by,” he said. “My kids are adults. My wife’s completely supportive of all this stuff.” Moore said the reunion began as “kind of a lark” with a June 2025 outdoor hockey concert in Edmonton, Alberta, and that even after that show, he wasn’t sure a full tour was coming. The chemistry in the dressing room, however, changed his mind: “The vibe in the dressing room — if you could be there — and it’ll all come out because we’re doing a second documentary, and you’ll see it. You can’t make this stuff up. This is the high-five dressing room.”

Emmett and Moore also appeared on SiriusXM’s Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk ahead of the tour’s conclusion. Emmett said, “It’s going great. It’s been a tremendous surprise to Gil and I that it’s gone as well as it has, because we were both a little skeptical coming in. We’re a couple of old farts, so we weren’t sure that the young guys were gonna be able to carry us, but it’s worked. It’s worked a charm.” Moore added, “Playing every night has been fantastic. The audiences have been outrageously good. Yeah, it couldn’t have worked out better if we scripted it.”

Emmett described the dynamic with the expanded lineup — which features original members Moore and Emmett alongside guitarist Phil X (a former Triumph member and current Bon Jovi guitarist), bassist Todd Kerns and drummer/keyboardist Brent Fitz (both of Slash Featuring Myles Kennedy & the Conspirators) — in glowing terms: “This reinvention, this reloading of Triumph is a thing where we picked up these guys that can sing harmonies, but they can be rock stars and they can play guitar solos that are light years beyond me. And I go, ‘Well, that’s okay. That’s great.’ There’s a respect that exists between us that has made the band a stronger entity than it ever was.” He added, “You just feel younger and stronger and braver. The band makes me feel like Winnie-the-Pooh: I’m braver than I thought, and I’m stronger than I thought, and I’m smarter than I thought. That’s the bottom line.”

The 2026 tour opened April 10 in Orlando, Florida, and included dates across Canada and the United States with April Wine as support, concluding June 10 in Laval, Quebec, Canada. The first Triumph documentary, Triumph: Rock & Roll Machine — directed by Sam Dunn and Marc Ricciardelli for Banger Films and produced with a planned 2020 premiere before the COVID-19 pandemic intervened — debuted at the 2021 Toronto International Film Festival and was widely released in 2022.

Triumph was formed in Mississauga, Ontario in 1975 and sold more than 15 million albums while earning a reputation for elaborate live productions featuring pyrotechnics and laser lighting, including a performance before 500,000 fans at the 1983 US Festival. Hits include “Lay It on the Line,” “Magic Power” and “Fight the Good Fight.” In 2025, the band was honored with the tribute album Magic Power: All-Star Tribute to Triumph (Round Hill Records), featuring contributions from Phil X, Slash, Alex Lifeson, Sebastian Bach, Dee Snider, Joey Belladonna, Nancy Wilson and others. The band was also inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame in October 2025, adding to previous honors including the Canadian Music Industry Hall of Fame (2007), the Canadian Music Hall of Fame (2008), and Canada’s Walk of Fame (2019).

Swedish black metal veterans Dark Funeral will release a new live album, A Beast to Praise, on Aug. 21, 2026, via Century Media Records. Recorded at Fållan in Stockholm in 2022 during the touring cycle for their sixth studio album, We Are the Apocalypse, the release spans 13 tracks and runs approximately 70 minutes (69:30). A first preview arrives today in the form of a live video for “The Arrival of Satan’s Empire.”

Guitarist and founding member Lord Ahriman said: “A Beast to Praise captures a very important moment in the history of Dark Funeral — not only the live release ritual for We Are the Apocalypse, but also our return to the stage after years of silence during the pandemic. That night at Fållan was intense in every possible way. The energy in the room, the fire, the audience and the atmosphere all came together into something far beyond an ordinary concert. This release is the immortal document of that night. With the release of this live album and the upcoming European touring cycle in the fall of 2026, we now close the chapter surrounding We Are the Apocalypse. Saxon have announced the first U.K. and Ireland leg of their “Gods of Thunder” world tour, with further international dates to be revealed in the coming months. The 11-date run spans February 13–27, 2027, and will feature the return of the band’s legendary 30-foot mechanized Eagle stage prop for all shows except Cardiff, where venue restrictions apply. The band will also revive their full “Castles & Eagles” stage production.

The mechanized Eagle was originally constructed in the early 1980s by Midlands-based company LSD, built using airport runway landing lights, as Saxon prepared to tour their seminal Denim and Leather album. It became an enduring symbol of the band and inspired the title of their acclaimed 1982 U.K. Top 5 live albums: The Eagle Has Landed. Frontman Biff Byford said, “We wanted to make the ‘Gods of Thunder’ U.K. and Ireland tour extra special. The tour supports Saxon’s forthcoming 25th studio album, due January 22, 2027 — a date Byford revealed exclusively to France’s Last Ride podcast. Beartooth have shared “Bulls***,” the third pre-release single from their forthcoming sixth studio album, Pure Ecstasy, due Aug. 28 via Fearless Records. The track follows previously released singles “Pure Ecstasy” and “Free.”

Frontman Caleb Shomo said of the new track: “‘Bulls***’ is a familiar song I’ve written many times. I wanted to revisit the musical style that was the catalyst of so much healing and discovery in my earlier years of Beartooth. It’s an exercise in letting the truth out about what you’re sick of in your own life. Sometimes the easiest way to deal with something is to yell about it as loud as you can. Can confirm, it felt as amazing to do this exercise now as it did when I was 19.”

Pure Ecstasy is also Beartooth’s first release with Fearless Records and their most collaborative album to date. Early songwriting contributions came from Skyler Accord (Issues, Twenty One Pilots, Bilmuri), while production work with Jordan Fish (Bring Me the Horizon, Poppy, Architects) pushed Shomo toward a rawer examination than on any previous record. For the first time, Shomo did not perform every instrument himself — drummer Connor Denis tracked drums across the album at NRG Recording Studios, while bassist Oshie Bichar and guitarists Zach Huston and Will Deely all played larger roles in the record than on past releases.

Beartooth will support the album with a world tour beginning Sept. 17 in Europe. The North American leg launches Nov. 11 in Boston and includes stops at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City on Nov. 12 and the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles on Dec. 18. Don Broco, Magnolia Park, and Windwaker are the support acts for all dates.

Beartooth was formed by Shomo in Columbus, Ohio, in 2013. Their previous album, The Surface (2023), debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Alternative and Hard Music charts and yielded the No. 1 rock radio singles “Might Love Myself” and “I Was Alive.” The band’s catalog has accumulated more than 1.3 billion streams globally, with certified-gold “Hated” and platinum In Between (2016) among the key releases in their back catalog.

Swiss industrial/black metal band Samael have released a new single, “Hail to the Sun,” the second piece of new music from the band since their 2025 single “Black Matter Manifesto,” — itself the first new Samael material in eight years. The band describes the new track as “an equally heavy and grand” song dealing with adversity and the act of seizing life’s opportunities.

In a press statement, Samael said: “In troubled times, it is good to come together around something meaningful to us all… and what better thing than the sun, which is one but experienced differently by each of us? ‘Hail to the Sun’ is an anthem that will see you through the summer and keep you warm when winter comes. The song is about overcoming adversity and seizing life’s opportunities.”

A full-length follow-up to Hegemony (2017, Napalm Records) has been completed. In a March 2025 interview with Finland’s Chaoszine, frontman Michael “Vorph” Locher confirmed the album was “pretty much recorded” and spoke about its musical direction: “It will have a strong bond to Hegemony, but it’s not the same. There is no experimentation with things that we’ve never, ever done before, but the mix is different, and there is a lot more guitar. It’s a lot more guitar-oriented. So, yeah, that’s one of the differences.” Swedish producer Daniel Bergstrand traveled to Switzerland in late 2024 to record vocals for the album, with guitarist Thomas “Drop” Betrisey confirming the recording was complete in a December 2024 social media update and calling the tracks “outstanding.”

Samael was formed in 1987 in Sion, Switzerland. Their 1990 debut Worship Him and the landmark 1996 album Passage — which introduced electronic and industrial elements into their black metal foundation — remain among the most influential releases in extreme metal’s crossover era. The current lineup is Vorph (guitars/vocals), his brother Alexandre “Xytras” Locher (drum programming, keyboards, samples, and percussion), Betrisey (guitars), and Ales Campanelli (bass), who joined in 2020 as the replacement for Pierre “Zorrac” Carroz.
