Geoff Tate’s Operation: Mindcrime, The Final Chapter Tour Made A Stop in Lincoln
PETER AMISANO | Go Venue Magazine
Geoff Tate‘s Operation: Mindcrime – The Final Chapter, at Lincoln’s Bourbon Theatre on May 5, 2026, billed as one of the final opportunities to experience the iconic 1988 Queensrÿche concept album performed in its entirety, it delivered an evening of amazing musicianship, atmosphere reminiscent of the 80’s scene.
With two Irish opening acts, James Keegan & Tomas McCarthy, the evening provided a mix of Irish acoustic, folk/rock music and classic metal.
James Keegan started off the evening with his acoustic guitar and a voice with hints of John Mayer. His music has influences of his Irish heritage, with a mix of American country music. He has the harmonica around his neck for one song, and the set included a cover of Van Morison’s Astral Weeks. The crowd was accepting of the extreme opposites in musical genres and surprisingly fit perfectly with the night’s mood.
Next was Tomas McCarthy, joined by his wife, Codagh McCarthy on vocals and saxophone. The pair was also joined by James Keegan on acoustic guitar, adding a bit of percussion with the palms of his hands on the body of his guitar. Tomas McCarthy’s vocal range is that of a standard Irish folk singer, but has deep tonal qualities of a digeridoo, very unique aspect of his voice. His wife, Codagh McCarthy, sang an Irish folk song, sung it it’s native tongue, it was a beautiful song. Tomas’ style has more of a rock feel to it, so better prepared the crowd for what was to come.
Geoff Tate then took the stage, joined by Codagh McCarthy on keyboards and vocals. The band consisted of three guitar players, keyboards, bass and drums portrayed, from start to finish, the Operation: Mindcrime album to near perfection. The sound, the feel, the atmosphere, the show, all phenomenal!
A nice surprise was a song from the upcoming Operation: Mindcrime III album, but the best part of the show, in my opinion, was the hits that followed the Mindcrime set. Songs like Empire, Jet City Woman and Take Hold of the Flame brought me back to my younger days when the hair metal scene was thriving.
The evening closed with Silent Lucidity and finally Queen of the Reich, the song from the original EP that put Geoff Tate on the map as one of the greatest metal vocalists of his time. I had high hopes for this show, and it delivered. Geoff Tate has still got it and surrounded himself with extremely talented musicians from around the world and it showed. Geoff Tate’s Operation: Mindcrime – The Final Chapter is a show to make a priority for 2026!

Single Review: GEORGE MARIOS ‘Crash Burn’
Review by Angela Croudace Crash Burn opens with a guitar line that feels less like an introduction and more like being thrust into something already in motion. There’s an immediate sense of momentum, like a journey has already begun and you’re being pulled into it. That instinct for atmosphere isn’t accidental. It reflects the path […] -
Billie Eilish Posts Graphic Slaughterhouse Videos, Responds To Backlash Over Saying You Can’t Love Animals And Eat Meat
Billie Eilish has always been vocal about animal rights. The pop star has been a vegan since she was 12, and while promoting her 2024 album Hit Me Hard And Soft she did meatless versions of Hot Ones and Chicken Shop Date. Last week, she said in an interview with Elle that eating meat is “inherently wrong” and that you can’t eat meat and also love animals. She’s been facing backlash, but she’s doubling down.

TYPE O NEGATIVE: Live Album Title Set for Reveal; Kenny Hickey Names the One Member Blocking a Peter Steele Tribute

WATCH: Exclusive Type O Negative Interview Preview
BROOKLYN, NY — While the existence of a new Type O Negative live album has been common knowledge for months, the “Drab Four” are finally narrowing in on its long-awaited debut. In a revealing new conversation on the Loaded Radio Podcast, surviving members Johnny Kelly and Kenny Hickey confirmed that the project finally has an official title, even as they keep the specific name under lock and key. However, the update on the studio side was met with a stark reality check regarding the stage: a potential tribute to Peter Steele is being stalled by a singular, immovable roadblock.
TL;DR: The Key Takeaways
- Title Secured: Though confirmed months ago, the upcoming Type O Negative live album finally has an official name, with a reveal expected closer to release.
- The “Forbidden” Track: The album includes a cover of The Doors’ “Light My Fire”—a song drummer Johnny Kelly admits he wasn’t happy to see included.
- The Reunion Reality: Kenny Hickey identifies Josh Silver as the sole person preventing a Peter Steele tribute show, despite the band having “begged” him to reconsider.
- The Sunday Drop: The full, deep-dive interview premieres this Sunday evening on the Loaded Radio platforms.
“Light My Fire”: The Rare Performance Johnny Kelly Didn’t Want
With the live album now in the final stages of preparation, the tracklist is beginning to take shape. The most controversial inclusion is a performance of The Doors’ “Light My Fire.” While Kenny Hickey pushed for its inclusion as a rare piece of the band’s history, Johnny Kelly was far from convinced.
“Johnny isn’t too happy about it,” it was noted during the session, highlighting the internal debate that still follows the band’s archival releases. The track represents a rare instance of the band venturing into the catalog of The Doors, a performance that has remained largely unheard until now.

The Josh Silver Standoff: “He’s Just Not Interested”
For fans hoping to see Hickey and Kelly take the stage for a proper Peter Steele tribute, the news is bittersweet. While the interest from the rest of the band is clear, the narrative surrounding a potential reunion has shifted directly toward keyboardist Josh Silver.
According to the duo, the conversation isn’t for lack of trying. “We have literally sat him down and begged him,” Kenny Hickey revealed, painting a picture of a band ready to honor their fallen brother but held back by a founding member’s firm stance. Despite the emotional weight of the project, Silver reportedly remains “just not interested” in revisiting the stage under the Type O banner.
A Final Plea to the Keyboardist
As the clip concludes, the focus shifts from reporting the news to a direct, heartfelt appeal. The message to Josh Silver is simple: the fans and his bandmates are ready to celebrate the legacy of the Green Man, but the circle cannot be closed without him.

Band Bio: Type O Negative
Hailing from Brooklyn, Type O Negative became the definitive architects of gothic metal. Fronted by the late Peter Steele, the band delivered a somber, satirical, and deeply heavy discography that includes classics like Bloody Kisses and World Coming Down. Since Steele’s passing in 2010, the surviving members have maintained a strictly “no reunion” policy out of respect, though the pressure for a one-off tribute continues to mount.
