  • Deep Purple announces “Splat!”

Deep Purple will release their new studio album SPLAT! on July 3 via earMUSIC. The album features the current lineup of Ian Gillan, Roger Glover, Ian Paice, Don Airey, and Simon McBride, and marks another collaboration with producer Bob Ezrin, known for his work with Kiss, Pink Floyd, Lou Reed, and Alice Cooper.

According to the band, SPLAT! is their heaviest album in years, with the record being tracked live in the studio in the traditional style the band used throughout their classic era.

“I have to say, now we are very much back in with material that is compatible with ‘Highway Star,’ ‘Smoke on the Water,’ and ‘Lazy,’ the dynamics, the balance, and the fun of the music we made from ’69 to ’73,” says frontman Ian Gillan. He adds: “Where we are now with this incarnation of DEEP PURPLE feels very much like a very ‘now’ version of DEEP PURPLE as it was in the seventies.”

The concept behind SPLAT! was conceived by Gillan. Rather than focusing on destruction, the album explores transformation and the idea of humanity moving beyond physical existence.

Additional details surrounding the album concept are expected to be revealed ahead of the album’s release. New music from the record is also expected in the coming weeks.

To support the album, Deep Purple will continue their 2026 world tour schedule, which currently includes 86 shows across 28 countries on three continents.

Since forming in 1968, the band has sold more than 120 million albums worldwide and remains one of the most influential acts in hard rock history.

Ian Gillan says, “DEEP PURPLE is in a great place right now.”
