Song Review: Scandinavian Jawbreakers “She Was Mine”

Scandinavian Jawbreakers just released their latest single “She Was Mine”, following their previous discography of 3 other songs released since 2025.

The song starts with an old-school folk rock sound as explosive guitar chugs and energetic leads are matched by booming drums and raspy screams that slash through the forefront of the mix. Scandinavian Jawbreakers quickly get the classic rock sound across as high-octane rock ‘n’ roll blasts your eardrums. Just before the 3 minute mark, “She Was Mine” slows its pacing and switches things up with a softer, clean guitar section that soon leads into a shredding guitar solo.

The song’s chorus is catchy with melodic screams and occasional backup chanting that create an anthemic sound that accents the main vocals. From start to finish, Scandinavian Jawbreakers bring an upbeat, dynamic sound that feels like a modern version of classic rock with a folk touch. The band’s latest single “She Was Mine” is available to stream now!

  • Rock and Roll Hall of Famer dies at 79

Dave Mason, the influential English singer-songwriter and guitarist best known as a founding member of Traffic, has died at the age of 79.

News of Mason’s passing was shared via his official social media channels. The full statement reads:

“It is with deep and profound sadness that we share the news of the passing of Dave Mason. On Sunday, April 19, after cooking an amazing dinner with his beloved wife Winifred, he sat down to take a nap with sweet Star (the maltese) at his feet. He passed away peacefully, in his favorite chair, surrounded by the beautiful Carson Valley that he loved so much. A storybook ending. On his own terms. Which is how he lived his life right up until the end. He leaves a lasting imprint on the soundtrack of our lives and the hearts he has lifted. His legacy will be cherished forever.”

Mason rose to prominence during the late 1960s as a founding member of Traffic. During his time with the band, he wrote and sang lead on some of their most enduring songs, including “Hole in My Shoe” and “Feelin’ Alright?”, the latter becoming a widely covered standard.

Following his departure from Traffic, Mason launched a successful solo career that spanned decades. His catalog includes classics such as “Only You Know and I Know and “Shouldn’t Have Took More Than You Gave.” His songwriting and distinctive guitar work helped shape the sound of blues rock and classic rock radio for generations.

Mason was also known for his extensive collaborations with some of the biggest names in music, including Jimi Hendrix, Paul McCartney, The Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton, Michael Jackson, and Fleetwood Mac, among many others. Often described as an “everywhere man,” his contributions extended far beyond his own recordings.

In 2004, Mason was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a founding member of Traffic, cementing his place among rock music’s most important figures.

In 2025, Mason announced his retirement from touring after six decades on the road, citing ongoing health challenges.

Dave Mason’s influence on rock and blues rock remains profound. From his early days shaping the sound of Traffic to his enduring solo work and collaborations, his music continues to resonate across generations.

  • Fieldy Finally Breaks Silence: Reveals the Real Reason Behind Korn Exit and Addresses “Retirement” Status

    fieldy-retired-from-korn

For the first time since stepping away from Korn in 2021, Reginald “Fieldy” Arvizu has provided a definitive account of his exit. While initial statements focused on personal healing, Fieldy now confirms that a fundamental disagreement over touring protocols and vaccination requirements during the 2021 restart was the catalyst for his departure.

    The Decision to Step Down

In a newly published interview on the Shady Characters podcast with former L.A.P.D. bandmate Richard Morrill, Fieldy explained that the friction began when the band planned to tour Florida during the height of the pandemic.

“COVID happened. That’s it. I’m like, ‘I’m not going out there,’” Fieldy stated. He clarified that his decision was rooted in his personal stance on vaccination and the overall “weird” energy of the touring industry at that time. “They’re like, ‘We’re going to Florida and all this.’ And I’m like, ‘I’m not going to get vaccinated.’ I’m not going.” This ideological gap led to a hiatus that eventually evolved into years of silence between him and his longtime brothers in the band.

    Addressing the “Retired” Label

While Ra Díaz has become the fixture in Korn‘s live lineup, Fieldy’s official role has remained an ongoing mystery for fans. Fieldy addressed his current status with a mix of finality and typical casualness.

“I’m retired from Korn today, but we’ll see what the day brings tomorrow,” he remarked. Despite the years of distance between him and Jonathan Davis, Munky, Head, and Ray Luzier, he insists he views his three-decade tenure with pride rather than regret. “I put in 30 years and now here I am. I’m cool with that.”

Connections with Limp Bizkit and Sam Rivers

Fieldy also touched on the tragic passing of Limp Bizkit bassist Sam Rivers last October. Addressing the fan-led movement that spent months lobbying for Fieldy to join Fred Durst‘s camp, he shared memories of their decades-long friendship.

“It hurt my heart, man. I’m friends with Sam and all those guys,” Fieldy said. He recalled their nightly “bass swap” gag during the 90s and early 2000s, noting that Rivers was an exceptionally skilled player whose finesse was often overlooked by the casual listener.

A New Heavy Project on the Horizon

The signature “Fieldy Sound” isn’t disappearing from the heavy music landscape. He confirmed that he has been actively working on a new project with an impressive rhythm section, including Sepultura drummer Greyson Nekrutman and former Fear Factory bassist Christian Olde Wolbers.

Fieldy describes the new material as “insane,” praising Nekrutman’s ability to blend high-speed jazz techniques with aggressive metal. By naming the COVID-19 pandemic as the primary factor for his Korn exit, Fieldy has finally cleared the air regarding the “personal issues” cited years ago. It appears the rift was less about personal health and more about a fundamental disagreement on how to navigate a changing world. While seeing him and Ray Luzier together at NAMM 2026 recently sparked reunion rumors, his current focus on new collaborations suggests he is content building a legacy outside of the “Korn circle” for the foreseeable future.
