  • Limping with the Bizkit: MGK and Fred Durst drop nu-metal banger Fix Ur Face

    fred-durst-mgk

Grammy-nominated artist MGK has reunited with Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst for the high-octane new single “Fix Ur Face.” The track, which officially dropped today, April 21, 2026, fuses ’90s nu-metal grit with modern alternative production, accompanied by a gritty, black-and-white world tour music video.

What does the MGK and Fred Durst collaboration sound like?

“Fix Ur Face” is an unabashed throwback to the golden era of nu-metal, featuring a peak performance from Fred Durst. The Limp Bizkit icon serves as a chaotic hype-man and vocal foil to MGK, blending aggressive rap-rock cadences with a “grit and grind” aesthetic.

Produced alongside longtime collaborators SlimXX and BazeXX, the track marks a significant shift back toward the heavier, more physical sound MGK has been teasing during his recent global tour dates. The single arrives just ahead of MGK’s birthday and serves as the opening salvo for a new era following the massive success of his Lost Americana LP.

Where was the Fix Ur Face music video filmed?

Directed by Sam Cahill, the official music video for “Fix Ur Face” is a black-and-white documentary-style visual shot across the globe. Capturing the raw energy of the “Lost Americana” tour, the video features footage from:

    • Europe: Berlin, Dublin, Düsseldorf, London, Prague, and Cologne.
    • United States: Nashville and Los Angeles.

The visual features street art from Lugosis and Strato, including a massive mural in Berlin, while the signature character face seen on the artists’ jackets was designed by Slawn Olaolu. The video made its broadcast debut this morning on MTV Live and the Paramount Times Square billboards.

How long have MGK and Fred Durst been working together?

While “Fix Ur Face” is their latest studio collaboration, the camaraderie between MGK and Fred Durst stretches back over a decade. The two have shared festival bills since MGK‘s early career, including a high-profile 2014 tour where MGK opened for Limp Bizkit.

MGK first teased the new track during the European leg of his current tour before performing a snippet for fans during his just-wrapped Australian run. Speaking to fans in Perth earlier this month, MGK noted, “I called up my friend Fred Durst. I said, ‘Sir, drop something on this.’ What he dropped, the rest is history.”

When does the MGK Lost Americana tour return to the U.S.?

After a massive run through Europe and Australia, MGK is bringing the “Lost Americana” tour back to North America starting May 15, 2026.

The U.S. leg will feature support from Wiz Khalifa, kicking off at the Toyota Amphitheatre in Wheatland, California. The tour continues through the summer, including stops in Austin, Dallas, Atlanta, and a June 22 date at the Mystic Lake Amphitheater in Minnesota—the same venue where Slayer is set to perform later this year.

Loaded Radio Insight: Is the nu-metal revival officially here?

“Fix Ur Face” doesn’t feel like a forced crossover; it feels like MGK finally found the right partner to bridge the gap between his pop-punk era and his rap-rock roots. Durst sounds more energized here than on some recent Limp Bizkit tracks, proving that the old guard still has plenty of “grit” to lend the new generation.

  • Jason Newsted to Take The Chophouse Band Out for First Headlining North American Tour

    newsted

Former Metallica bassist Jason Newsted has been living his best life. Ever since leaving the biggest band on the planet, the dude’s been cashing in fat royalties checks and living off the Black Album for decades. He’s also since done other musical stuff to varying degrees of success and exposure, playing with Ozzy, Voivod, and some of his own efforts as well, like his solo Newsted band.

Earlier today, Newsted announced that one of his other bands, The Chophouse Band, will be heading out on its first-ever headlining North American tour this summer. Spanning 18 dates with a mix of headlining and supporting slots for Blackberry Smoke, the tour will make stops along the south, midwest, and east coast throughout July. Newsted said the tour will be a major step for the band.

“We’re fired up to finally take this to the people, and it’s an honor to head out on the road with the Blackberry crew for our first proper run. Blackberry Smoke has built a loyal following that knows and enjoys good music.

“We’ll be performing The Chophouse Band originals and selections from a few of our heroes. Even at places like the Ryman, we will play some acoustic-based tunes, but throughout the set it is guaranteed to get heavy!”

“Selections from a few of our heroes” very likely means some Ozzy and Metallica covers, if I had to guess. Either way, I’ve seen Newsted live since he left Metallica and he’s always up for a good show.

  • Full EP Stream: Mortuary – “Great Black Earth”

Mexican death thrash OGs Mortuary—formed way back in 1998, where their original run lasted until 1997 before reuniting full-time in 2008—are staking their claim to modern supremacy with Great Black Earth, their first release since 2012. Mortuary haven’t lost a step in their time out of the studio, perfectly resurrecting the primitive early days sound of extreme metal.

Guitarist Alberto Martinez is the sole remaining classic member and it shows in the songwriting. Each guitar riff has a throwback feeling, calling to mind Death by Metal along with the wild thrashines of early Slayer, Sepultura and Sarcófago. Drummer Mando Opposus also nails the vintage feeling, both in his approach to playing and in the production.

“After years in the shadows, Mortuary returns not reborn but rotten, sharpened, and louder than ever,” Mortuary tell Decibel. “Great Black Earth is everything that festered while we were gone. Working with HPGD Productions means efficiency, trust and alignment. When trust exists between artist and label, decisions become clearer, creativity flows faster, and success is built on a shared vision rather than control”

On Great Black Earth, Mortuary make up for lost time by getting right to business. The four songs within are sharp and well-written, and you can listen to them now.
