  • Kacey Musgraves Debuts More Middle Of Nowhere Songs At Coachella

Kacey Musgraves was a last-minute addition to Coachella’s Weekend 2 lineup, conveniently leading up to next month’s release of her new album Middle Of Nowhere. She performed Saturday afternoon and opened her set with the album’s newly-released title track, one of a few live debuts she incorporated into the setlist: She also performed unreleased songs “Uncertain, TX” and “Back On The Wagon.”

  • Bloodbather Announce Farewell Album, Share Two New Music Videos

Who doesn’t love a triumphant return? I mean, we love it more when it actually means you’re here to stay, but sometimes, you gotta just take what you can get. Deathcore band Bloodbather decided to exit the scene back in 2024 but apparently, that wasn’t the end. This week, the band returned with two new tracks and accompanying music videos (“Dog 2 God” and the Panic! at the Disco nod “Lying Is The Most Fun A Girl Can Have Without Taking Her Clothes Off”), each a part of their newly announced record ANAYNGSTTA, due out April 24.

Bloodbather really got us though, because despite them returning to release all of this gloriousness, it seems that this will truly be the band’s final record. That’s wack, but at least we’re getting something. Oh, and if you’re wondering what the album title is an acronym for, see the album’s last track for reference.

Here’s to this actually NOT being their last record, just saying.

    ANAYNGSTTA tracklist:
    01 – “Unlovable“
    02 – “No Tears, Please“
03 – “Lying Is The Most Fun A Girl Can Have Without Taking Her Clothes Off“
    04 – “Closed Curtains, Closed Caskets…“
    05 – “Dog 2 God“
06 – “Bloodbather” (feat. The Requiem)
    07 – “CON$3QUENC“
08 – “And Now All Ya’ll N*ggas Got Somethin’ To Talk About“

  • The Get Alongs Returns with A new single Wrapped in a Lollipop.

Toronto’s The Get Alongs return with their first single “Come On,” from their upcoming album, Second To None, which is due out on June 19, 2026 via Having Fun / We Are Busy Bodies. It’s dose of  jangly,  guitar rock leans towards The Brian Jonestown Massacre and early Oasis.

The track is being released using bone conduction technology, which transmits vibrations through the skull. You can enjoy the experience by sucking on a limited-edition lollipop. Come On,” can only be heard while sucking on it The song plays directly inside a user’s head using vibration technology. It works by transmitting audio vibrations through the teeth and jawbone to the inner ear, bypassing the eardrum entirely. That means that the song travels straight through your jaw and into your skull, bypassing the usual distance between listener and sound. All quite interesting like a Science class!

Formed in 2017, the four-piece consists of Harrison Pickernell (vocals, rhythm guitar), Rory Pickernell (lead guitar), Eric Wood (bass), and Tristan Catenacci (drums),  who have spent the better part of a decade refining a sound that pulls from 60s garage, 70s power pop, and 90s psyche. With Second To None, that same DNA is still there, just sharpened. The edges are cleaner, but the intent hits harder, the hooks land heavier, and the band knows exactly when to let things breathe and when to push it just past the point of comfort.

Second To None was tracked at Holy Mountain Sound in Montreal with producer Clayton Dupuis, across a series of focused sessions that saw the band stepping away from their usual environment and fully committing to the process. Living and working out of the studio, they traded distraction for detail, dialing in tones, tightening performances, and pushing arrangements further than before. Additional contributions from Dupuis, Shallow’s AJ Krome, and Josh Campos help round out the record’s expanded palette without losing its core identity.

That balance, between instinct and intention, is what defines The Get Alongs right now. The raw, anything-goes energy that shaped their early work hasn’t disappeared, it’s just been tightened up and aimed straight ahead. What you get on “Come On” is a band that still knows how to kick up dust, but now does it with intent. You can picture exactly where it lives, a half-finished Labatt 50 sweating on the stage at the Horseshoe, amps humming, cables tangled, the room filling in slow while someone fiddles with a busted pedal. Flyers peeling off the walls, boots sticking to the floor, that low-end thump settling into your chest before the first chord even hits. Second To None leans into that space, a band locking in without sanding off the edges, pushing forward without losing the reason they started in the first place.

Formed in 2017,the Toronto-based quartet were founded by brothers Harrison and Rory. They were soon joined by best friends Tristan and Eric over their love of jangly pop rock.

  • Escuela Grind Tap Jake Sanders as New Drummer; Finish New Album

    Escuela Grind

East Coast grindcore kids Escuela Grind have basically had a circle pit version of music chairs going on with their lineup lately, with quite a few of their members shifting to different positions to fill slots. It seems like everyone’s found their true seat though, with the addition of their new drummer Jake Sanders.

With Sanders now behind the kit, former drummer Jesse Fuentes will take one guitar duties, since their current guitarist Tom Sifuentes has left the band again. As a reminder, Sifuentes originally exited the band back in 2024 after speaking up about some concerns he had about his hearing. They’re on good terms, with Escuela Grind hoping to welcome Sifuentes back at some point along with a third guitarist.

Along with announcing the addition of Sanders, Escuela Grind also said they’ve finished recording their next album. They made a post on their socials yesterday (Saturday, April 17), saying:

“The next chapter of Escuela Grind

“It’s time to introduce you all to our new drummer! @jrs.drms blast beats are on another level. We look forward to sharing the stage with him for our upcoming tour in Europe.
We are excited to announce this as our drummer & key songwriter Jesse will be joining Justin & Krissy on guitar duty.

“We appreciated Toms return to guitar over the last year & hope he can join us for third guitar madness in the near future. We have officially wrapped up recordings for the next EG release and we cannot wait for everyone to hear what is coming next!”

Welcome to the family, Jake! Seems like you’ll fit right in.

  • SHADES OF BLACK: DUIR, LORN, TYRANNUS, HAJDUK, BANSHEE MOON, LIVIDUS

(written by Islander) I mentioned yesterday that I had collected 69 new songs or complete releases as a starting point for deciding what to recommend in this weekend’s usual columns. After yesterday’s selections that magic number had diminished, but not enough to make today’s choices any easier. Still, choices must be made. I can’t identify […]

  • The Strokes End Coachella Set With Video Condemning US Actions In Iran And Gaza

The Strokes had a powerful ending for their Coachella Weekend 2 set last night. On the main stage of the festival — just ahead of headliner Justin Bieber — the band closed with “Oblivius,” a song from 2016 that they hadn’t performed since that year. The screen behind them displayed a video montage accusing the CIA of overthrowing various foreign regimes throughout the past few decades, including Mohammed Mossadegh of Iran, Patrice Lumumba of the Congo, and more. The montage ended with some footage of US attacks on Iran and Israeli attacks on Gaza, particularly pointing out the universities that have been destroyed.

  • The Keefs – "Fleshbomb"

Hey! There’s a new Keefs single out in the world! The Keefs, the Delaware/Philly-based band that released some of the most essential punk rock ‘n’ roll cuts of the early 2010s, have brought back “Fleshbomb,” an oldie but goodie from their live set. This track features a lineup of Dave, Kenn, Vince, and Andy along with one of America’s most preeminent rock keyboardists, Mr. Kris Rodgers. If you like The Keefs, well this is vintage Keefs. It’s a straight-forward rocker with gritty vocals, melodic guitars, a hooky chorus, and a powerful sound. It was recorded by Arik Victor at Creep Recording Studio in Philly, and it sounds absolutely crackling. The Keefs were literally featured on Day One of this blog (June 9, 2011), so it’s always a pleasure when new music from these guys shows up online. “Fleshbomb” is a total scorcher and a must for your spring/summer “turn it up loud!” playlist!
