SOLDIERS OF STEEL FESTIVAL II STRIKES AGAIN: Saint and Widow Lead Second Wave of Heavy Metal Assault

The siege of Seattle intensifies as the Soldiers of Steel Festival reveals the second wave of artists set to storm the stage at Substation from August 13th through August 16th, 2026. This latest announcement further solidifies the festival’s mission to bring the finest in traditional, power, and thrash metal to the Pacific Northwest.
Leading this second charge are Oregon’s Saint, the legendary pioneers of “Apocalyptic Metal,” delivering a high-octane, Judas Priest-style sonic assault fueled by soaring vocals and blistering riffs. For over 40 years, these “Warriors of the Son” have remained an unstoppable force in the scene, proving that true faith and pure heavy metal are a match made in heaven. Joining them for a can’t-miss appearance is North Carolina’s Widow. Active since 2000 with five acclaimed albums under their belt, this performance marks the band’s long-awaited debut in the Pacific Northwest.
The second wave also highlights a formidable array of power and traditional heavy metal:
- ADAMANTIS: Bringing the fire of Massachusetts power metal to the West Coast, these No Remorse Records warriors are known for their soaring melodies and epic compositions.
- HEAVY METAL SHRAPNEL: A masterclass in high-octane instrumental shred and traditional heavy metal excellence led by Andrew Lee and ex-Yngwie vocalist Mark Boals.
- CHAMBER MAGE: One of the most exciting names in the current epic heavy metal underground, delivering powerful, riff-driven storytelling.
- SUBVERSION TRIGGER: Les Evans (ex-Cryptic Slaughter) and Brad Mowen (The Accüsed) bring a lethal dose of high-speed aggression and technical precision.
These bands join an already monumental lineup that includes the homecoming of Sanctuary, the first U.S. appearance in 40 years for Sacred Blade, and a 40th-anniversary celebration of The Accüsed AD.
Ticket & Pass Information: Fans are encouraged to act quickly, as VIP and Weekend passes are moving fast.
- Weekend Pass ($90): Access to the main festival dates on Friday, August 14th and Saturday, August 15th.
- VIP Pass ($150): The ultimate experience covering all four days (Pre-fest, main festival, and afterparty). VIP passes include an exclusive festival t-shirt, a commemorative poster, and additional TBA festival treasures.

Nekrogoblikon Teams Up with Reel Big Fish (Yes, Seriously) for Latest Single and EP Reveal
With a long time scheduled on the road starting next month, Nekrogoblikon is a pretty busy bunch. But it turns out they’ve been even busier recently, as they just announced the impending release of their latest EP, The Boiling Sea.
Set for release on April 17, the new EP features six new tracks and five live tracks of past songs. To celebrate the announcement, they released the EP’s first single and its corresponding music video, “Secret Elephant”. Just like a lot of Nekrogoblikon’s discography, it can be pretty irreverent, but that’s not the only thing that stands out about it. This time, they recruited… *checks notes* Reel Big Fish.
In a press release, John Goblikon explained what went into “Secret Elephant”.
“I’ve been asked to give a statement on our new song ‘Secret Elephant’ and after strong consideration, I’ve decided I’m not quite sure know what that means. But what I DO know is secrets don’t make friends… unless that secret is, of course, an elephant who you happened to befriend. Yhey also say an elephant never forgets, but goblins definitely do, because I literally can’t remember where I put my phone! I had it earlier and then I got distracted by this email asking me for a quote about our new song ‘Secret Elephant,’ which is such a banger by the way. Ooh, that reminds me I gotta look for my phone!”
You can catch Nekrogoblikon doing their thing live at any of the dates listed below.

Full EP Stream: Dissentience – “Kaiju”
Pennsylvania death-thrashers Dissentience are going big on their new EP, Kaiju, not unlike the monsters that inspired it. Their fourth release, Kaiju shows the band take a more progressive and conceptual approach to things than on previous releases, like their 2022 album, Empire Anatomy.
“The best kaiju movies aren’t just special effects showcases, they also explore the impact of the destruction on humanity,” Dissentience tell Decibel. “Incorporating equal parts bombast and psychological horror into the lyrics was a conscious decision to try to avoid some of the campiness that comes with the territory of giant monster movies. Everyone has monsters running through their lives, metaphorical or otherwise, so we thought it best not to give the listener too much in terms of visual description, providing the narrative for people’s imaginations and interpretations to run wild. This EP is a Godzilla-sized step forward for the band on all fronts into what we feel is the purest expression of our vision for the band to date.”
In addition to the lyrical considerations made by the band, Dissentience express the chaos/calm dynamic by incorporating acoustic intros and clean interludes that simulate the pace and tone of a movie like Godzilla or Pulgasari. It’s a big step forward for the band, who began to truly find their footing on their last release four years ago.
Kaiju is out on February 20 and can be purchased on Bandcamp.

RAYE Is Making It Up To Dozens Of Fans Turned Away From Paris Show Due To Ticketmaster Fuckup
Everybody hates Ticketmaster. In 2022, hundreds of fans were denied entry into a Bad Bunny show in Mexico City after being told that their legitimate tickets were fraudulent despite being bought through Ticketmaster’s platform. A similar trouble transpired last night at RAYE’s concert at Paris’ Accor Arena on Sunday (Feb. 15), and she made a statement about it today.
