Don Broco â âNightmare Trippingâ
Don Broco are now on the Dark Side. Gone is the whimsy that punctuated their earlier albums. Theyâve kept the electronic hints, of course, but taken their sound in a distinctly heavier direction on their latest offering, âNightmare Trippingâ. Itâs hard to believe that âT-Shirt Songâ was only a couple of albums prior, but a lot has happened since its release in 2018. While we never disapprove of a heavy take from a band, a lot of the fun of Don Broco has been dampened in favour of deeper, darker lyrics and, as a result, their latest incarnation sounds a whole lot like, well, every other band occupying a similar position on festival lineups. Of course, when âNightmare Trippingâ drops live on their upcoming tour, the newest tracks will undoubtedly slot in perfectly as part of a greater whole, but on record, theyâre conjuring an altogether more sombre experience.Â
Their new direction is clear from the very start. From the second âCellophaneâ glitches into life, weâre swept into a struggle for survival. Itâs tremendous and claustrophobic, a song for those longing to unplug. Their electronica has taken on the role of harbinger on âHype Manâ, their most Shikari-like track, which is destined to become a fan favourite when the bridge crashes into the euphoric crystals of the chorus, and ushers in a taut race into the unknown on âDisappearâ. Sampling bagpipes is a bold move, but it just adds to the whole deep cave pool atmosphere theyâre evoking. Calling in the services of Nickelback to add a bucketload of riffs takes the title track in an equally unexpected turn, with the whole song switching incredibly rapidly between rhythms and genresâŚbut it works. Whatever spirits Don Broco are contacting via this seance of a song, they must be controlling an ambitious, interesting direction.Â
Itâs not all totally darkness though. âEuphoriaâ feels the most characteristically Don Broco song here here, and itâs no great stretch to imagine vocalist Rob Damiani cavorting onstage to its robotic bridges and clashing riffs. The standout track by a mile is the collab with Architects frontman Sam Carter – âTrue Believersâ – which absolutely shines with excitement and atmospheric promise. A distinct maturity haunts each late night chord to make for a gorgeous song, and one which feels like it should have been the cornerstone for a whole different album; one which took a more thoughtful turn away from the darkness and into the light. That said, the chunky guitars that lead âSwimming Poolsâ into the familiar shallows of the Broco sound is exactly what we need as an antidote to the fear that Don Broco have gone off the deep end, and serves as a reassurance that they havenât completely abandoned their roots.Â
It feels like a tradition now to end any album in 2026 with a slow number, and Don Broco finish with the moody, atmospheric âThe Cornerâ, a song that feels like a book being gently closed after a satisfying read. This begs the question: whatâs the next chapter for Don Broco? Theyâve established that they want to make deeper songs that stretch into more personal territory, with a goal to take on the tougher bands in their sphere of influence. Can we expect an even darker record next year? Whatever the answer, thereâs no return to their old antics after the ambitions displayed in âNightmare Trippingâ.

Against The Current Share Ethereal New Track âHeavenlyâ
They’ve just celebrated their 15th anniversary, now Against The Current are focusing on the future with the release of a stunning new track.

Titled ‘Heavenly’, it is quintessential ATC. Dense, dramatic and beautifully delivered, it’s an euphorically bold move. From the soft patter of synths backing up the thrilling chords to Chrissy Costanza’s crystalline vocal, it is as gorgeous as it is grand. A summation of everything that the band’s journey has awarded and taught them, presented in an utterly irresistible form.
The start of something wonderful.
Chrissy had this to say about the tune, explaining, “‘Heavenly’ is the realisation that the fall from grace is liberation. After balancing on a knifeâs edge atop a pedestal others put you on, the moment of letting everyone down becomes the first gasp of fresh air after a lifetime of holding your breath. “
It’s the first new music from the band in three years, following their string of standalone singles that marked their return to being an independent band.
Here is one of them, ‘silent stranger’:
Recently, it was revealed that Chrissy is going to be performing the band’s megahit ‘Legends Never Die’ at T1: Home Ground, an eSports festival in South Korea. The post Against The Current Share Ethereal New Track ‘Heavenly’ appeared first on Rock Sound.

Nova Twins win Best Alternative Music Act at MOBO Awards 2026
Nova Twins picked up the award for Best Alternative Music Act at the 2026 MOBOs last night (March 26).
Amy Love and Georgia South made an appearance at Manchesterâs Co-op Live to collect the gong, beating stiff competition in the form of ALT BLK ERA, Blood Orange, Hak Baker, Michael Kiwanuka and Rachel Chinouriri.
Earlier this month, Amy reflected in their Kerrang! Cover Story that, ââRock generally gets sidelined from these mainstream platforms. So we were really grateful to Kanya King at the MOBOs for pushing this forward, because without her listening to us and having that conversation [about launching the first-ever Best Alternative Music Act category in 2022], it wouldnât have happened.
âItâs amazing see all the bands that have been nominated and who are getting that recognition that they deserve. Itâs also great for people to have the opportunity to see a band like us play. A young kid might be at home watching the MOBOs, see us, and think, ââWhat the hell was that?! I could do that, too!ââ
Check out yesterdayâs acceptance speech below:

- Nova Twins: ââThereâs nothing like the feeling of exchanging energy. Itâs an amazing thing to be able to bring people togetherâ
- Nova Twins: ââItâs important to not stay too comfortable⌠Stepping out of our box was scary and funâ
- In conversation with Nova Twins and Witch Fever: ââIt doesnât have to be tokenistic, thereâs good acts out there if you just open your eyes!â
