  • Enter Shikari Will Fall Dormant at the End of 2027

Just recently, Enter Shikari frontman Roy Reynolds said that the band were discussing their future. Now, it seems they’ve come to a decision.

As of December 31st 2027, 14 months from now, the band will “fall dormant”. They say that this dormancy may end with either an eruption back into activity or extinction.

2027 will mark 20 years since the release of their debut album. In a statement, the band said, “For the past two decades, we’ve run amok in a cultural landscape that elevates easily-pigeongholed art, so being an ‘Enter Shikari’ hasn’t always been easy, professionally or personally, with obvious negative impact on one’s mental health when tasked with “coming up with the goods”.  But we do this because we love it. And we are lucky enough to have built an audience who understand that the less-trodden path is sometimes the more interesting journey.”

They went on to say, “However, it gets to the point where the often difficult terrain of that path starts to frazzle and drain the humble traveller.

We are far from being the same kids who recorded that debut album, and as much as we love what we do, and still love being in each other’s company, as humans our priorities and capacities have changed.

Even before Rou’s recent illness, we’d had difficult conversations about what the next few years should hold. The pressures of the modern music industry, as well as our outside responsibilities and ambitions, had begun to urge change. To then see a friend in trouble made those conversations more pertinent.

While we don’t think we’re “splitting up”, we do not have a diary that extends beyond 2027.
We’re genuinely excited to make next  year a celebration of what this band means to us. But after that it’ll be time to go away for a good while and see what being Rou, Rob, Rory and Chris, and not ‘Enter Shikari’, feels like.

Maybe we’ll be like Fugazi and just get together to rehearse for fun, without feeling the need to make anyone else listen to it? All we really know is, after two decades of being a “professional” band, not having plans three years in advance is liberating.”

They also shared their upcoming plans, touring in November this year, the world and Europe in 2027 and recording some new music, so it’s far from over for now.

The full statement is on Instagram.

  • Complete List Of Beartooth Songs From A to Z

    Beartooth Songs

Beartooth began in Columbus, Ohio, as the intensely personal project of Caleb Shomo, who wrote, performed, and produced the earliest material largely on his own. The 2013 Sick EP introduced the combination of hardcore aggression, metalcore weight, melodic hooks, and brutally direct lyrics that became the foundation of the band. Shomo gradually built Beartooth into a full touring group while remaining the central songwriter, producer, vocalist, and creative force behind the music. The first full-length album, Disgusting, arrived in 2014 and produced some of Beartooth’s defining early songs, including “The Lines,” “Beaten in Lips,” “Body Bag,” and “In Between.” Aggressive

  • DS Record Review: Blitzkid Return From The Grave To Bring You “Modern Hel!”

It’s that time of year again, fiends! The air is beginning to cool as a stiff breeze through the blinds sets the flame on your pumpkin spice candle aflicker, leaving dancing shadows on the wall. Summer’s tacky patriotism is replaced by the familiar charm of ghosts, goblins and creepy crawlies in every department store and mall. That’s right! It’s spooky season, and the reigning princes of horror punk have a treat for us all! Blitzkid is back with their first full length studio album in over 15 years, and it’s a doozy!

Much like Michael Meyers on halloween, Modern Hel is Blitzkid returning home. This record brings out the best in a band that made their name writing nostalgic horror film inspired anthems since 1997! Since their hiatus in 2012, founders Argyle Goolsby and TB Monstrosity have clearly kept up their chops, as their voices have never sounded better and the interplay of their classic albums like 2003’s Trace Of A Stranger and fan favorite Five Cellars Below (2006) is back in full force, while the addition of drummer Ryan Manning brings new life and boundless energy to the whole affair.

This time around the boys from Bluefield sink their fangs into such classic films as Cujo, Toxic Avenger, Children Of The Corn, and The People Under The Stairs among others, all with a sense of reverence and a playful toothy grin. The melodies are infectious, the beats are relentless, and sonically this record could stand toe to toe with any modern punk classic. It’s clean, but dynamic, punchy but not overblown and mixed beautifully to showcase each members’ talents. Plainly put, this record rips!

Standout tracks abound, but I’ll try to highlight some of my favorites. The album opener “The Thirteenth Guest” is an upbeat thrasher which perfectly sets up the rest of the record as a thrill ride you won’t want to get off. The acoustic accompanied vocal bridge adds a haunting twist to an otherwise raging tune. Singles “Warning Shadows” and “Beast or Man?” show off the respective talents of the two vocalists in the band perfectly. The former is a straight ahead spooky rocker belted by Goolsby with raw intensity. The latter finds Monstrosity at the helm, crooning the woeful and melancholic tale of John Merrick, better known as the elephant man. In an album full of memorable choruses, this one stands out as one of Monstrosity’s best. If these tunes don’t beckon you across the threshold to behold the madness of Modern Hel, I don’t know what will.

“Behind The Rows” shows off Goolsby’s songwriting chops with one of my favorite choruses of the record. Maybe it’s my love for the 1984 cheese fest Children Of The Corn, but the gentle refrain of “Malachi will follow you…” and the violent mob invoking group chant of “walk with me behind the rows” just tickles my fancy. Meanwhile, “The Unhallowed Art” gets into the finer points of reanimation and features an excellent vocal performance and a tasty little guitar lead that is sure to get yer toes tapping (rigor mortis permitting.)

As per usual with this bunch, the packaging on the album is stunning and features art from a classic film, this time inspired by Fritz Lang’s 1927 sci-fi masterpiece Metropolis. They even pressed a special double 10” version housed in a film can! Ya just can’t beat these ghouls when it comes to eye-catching and one of kind merchandising. If you love The Misfits, The Damned, or fellow modern horror rockers Calabrese then you need to grab yourself a copy of Modern Hel. It’s guaranteed to hit your sweet spot like a candy apple (just watch out for those razor blades, kiddos!) Order your copy today from A Corpse With No Name Productions!

  • Oasis take legal action to block planned auction of unheard recordings, The Desk Tapes

Oasis have taken legal action to stop a collection of unheard recordings being sold at auction this coming weekend.

Last month it was announced that Littleton Auctions were set to sell a collection known as The Desk Tapes, comprising of 63 concert recordings, over 100 hours of rehearsals tapes, soundcheck recordings, and “unfiltered” conversation between band members owned by the Manchester band’s former sound engineer Huw Richards, who worked as the front-of-house sound engineer for Oasis from 1995 to 2001.

The collection of 209 DAT tapes, 73 analogue cassettes and three MiniDiscs had been passed on to the auction house by Richards’ son, Owain. It was estimated that the collection would cost a potential buyer between £1.2m and £1.6m, but no-one would not be able to commercialise the archive without co-operation and permission from the band.

When the proposed auction was initially announced, it was reported that the Gallagher brothers had “expressed concerns”, with Owain Richards admitting to The Times newspaper that the Gallagher brothers “don’t want” the collection sold, and that they wanted the tapes “back in their possession.” That Oasis have now taken action to block the sale backs up this idea.

“Littleton Auctions confirms that the Oasis recordings known as The Desk Tapes have been withdrawn from our October 3 auction in light of legal proceedings,”the auction house’s managing director, Ben Homer, told the BBC. “We are very disappointed that we cannot offer this significant archive as planned.”

“It is true that Oasis have sued me and my father to try to prevent the auction of the tapes made by my father many years ago,” Owain Richards told the BBC. “We have agreed to postpone the auction [of the tapes] to enable the legal dispute to be resolved either by litigation or otherwise in an orderly way.”

Last weekend Oasis sold out all 42 shows announced for their Live ’27 world tour.
