The cool-kid jamband supergroup Taper’s Choice brings together Darkside’s Dave Harrington, Real Estate’s Alex Bleeker, Vampire Weekend’s Chris Tomson, and Arc Iris’ Zach Tenorio Miller. Or at least it did. After four years, Harrington has announced his departure from the band.

Every Hell have unveiled a new single, Let Me Go.
The now-five-piece – vocalist/saxophonist Will Gardner, guitarist Toby Stewert, bassist Andrew Gosden, drummer Mark Roberts and guitarist/synth musician Jules Maas-Palmer – are back with their first new music since 2024 debut EP Vertebrate.
“Let Me Go was written in the summer of 2025, an initial idea brought to the rehearsal room that was a bit too proggy,” explains Will. “We slowly tore it apart over a few weeks to make it more gnarly and dissonant, more aligned with Every Hell vibe.
“Lyrically, Let Me Go is about being stuck in a loop of guilt and self-loathing until eventually giving in to depression and anxiety instead of fighting it. I think a lot of the time we fight really hard against deep and dark emotions instead of embracing them as part of being human and imperfect.”

(Today we present Comrade Aleks’ interview of Kristjan Virma from the long-running Estonian band Taak, whose latest album was released last October.) With the Estonian band Taak, things are both simple and complex. Formally, the band has been around since 2004, but in fact, that year the entire lineup of Estonia’s first doom metal band, […]

We’re nearing the end of March and as such, spring is fast approaching. I cannot express how excited I am to get hit with allergies again just in time to enjoy the warmer weather. In the meantime, here’s some new tunes to get hyped about.

Sunya (Cave & Canary)
A prog band taking on some high concept sci-fi bullshit ain’t nothing new. But it’s the way that The Deer Hunter does it that makes ’em stand out. The songs sound huge, epic in nature, while still retaining some of the band’s more catchy and wide-ranging styles.

Goliath (Napalm Records)
Classic thrash metal outfit Exodus is back with vocalist Rob Dukes and this is the album that came out of that reunion. It’s heavy. It’s relentless. It kicks all kinds of ass even after five years of not putting out any new music. Still, Dukes sounds like he belongs in the band and never missed any time away. It’s just pure, unadulterated Exodus and it’s absolutely worth your time.

Impossible World (MNRK Heavy)
Formerly known as Fucked and Bound, it’s been about three years since Filth Is Eternal released new music. This time around, the songs are a little longer than normal, there are some new members in the fold, and the result is a pissed off record that goes more places than the band used to.

Loss (Century Media)
Portuguese black metal is on display once again, as Gaerea’s new album Loss adds to the band’s overarching sound and lore. As you might come to expect, this album’s stuffed with heavy rhythms, crushing riffs, and some major orchestral parts that really elevate this album

Peace In Place (SharpTone Records)
It’s the return of Poison The Well. Having not released a new piece of music almost a decade, this one’s been a long time coming. It’s super pissed off, which makes sense given everything else goin on lately. If you’re pissed off at everything, this will be right up your alley.
