Iron Lung, Tørsö, & Apartment 213 Drop Off CY Fest Amid Boycott Call
Last year, promoter Ignacio Rodriguera, who goes by the name Nacho Corrupted, announced plans for the rescheduled version of CY Fest, a Los Angeles punk festival that was originally supposed to take place in 2025. The 2026 CY Fest, scheduled to come to the Belasco later this month, has a truly impressive lineup, with punk, hardcore, and metal underground legends like the Subhumans, Eyehategod, Pig Destroyer, and Dropdead playing alongside newer bands like Big Boy, Rotting Out, and Mess. But an online feminist group has circulated a number of sexual misconduct allegations against Rodriguera, and some bands have dropped off the CY Fest lineup.

Saiph Revolutionizes the Goth Scene with the Release of “Talos Lie”
Following the excellent reception of their previous release on February 12th with “Metropolis”, the musical project Saiph now arrives with the premiere of “Talos Lie”. With this new single, the group takes a firm and decisive step, diving deeper into the textures and punch of industrial sound, establishing themselves as one of the most disruptive acts in today’s goth scene.
This qualitative leap in their sound is the result of the transition officially announced on October 19th, 2025, the date when Saiph ceased to be a solo project to present itself as a full band. This evolution has allowed the group to explore greater atmospheric and rhythmic density through its current lineup: Robin, Robert H Richmond, Thomas, Viktor.
While “Metropolis” already set a clear tone within the goth scene, Saiph delves into a more mechanical and dark atmosphere with “Talos Lie”. The release reinforces their powerful visual identity, inspired by cult cinema and oriented toward club culture under their now-iconic motto: “Dance or Die”.
Both “Talos Lie” and “Metropolis” are currently available on all digital streaming platforms. The post Saiph Revolutionizes the Goth Scene with the Release of “Talos Lie” first appeared on FemMetal – Goddesses of Metal.

A New Chapter After A Difficult Few Years
The engagement comes several years after a major shift in Hetfield’s personal life.
In 2022, it was revealed that Hetfield and his wife of 25 years, Francesca, had divorced. The couple had been together since the early 1990s and married in 1997, raising three children together.
Despite the separation, both have remained committed to co-parenting their daughters Cali and Marcella and their son Castor.
For many fans, seeing Hetfield publicly celebrate a new relationship feels like a hopeful step forward.
Hetfield Has Been Open About His Personal Struggles
Over the years, Metallica fans have watched Hetfield navigate some very public struggles.
He has spoken openly about battles with alcoholism, anxiety, and identity issues that came with becoming the frontman of one of the biggest bands in rock history.
Hetfield entered rehab in 2001, an experience that would eventually be documented in the band’s 2004 film Metallica: Some Kind Of Monster.
He returned to treatment again in 2019 to continue focusing on recovery.
During interviews over the years, Hetfield has described those experiences as life-changing, saying they forced him to completely rethink how he approached life, family and his role inside Metallica.
Metallica’s Legacy Still Towers Over The Genre
While Hetfield’s personal life has evolved, the impact of Metallica remains massive.
The band has sold more than 125 million albums worldwide, won multiple Grammy Awards and released some of the most influential heavy metal records ever recorded.
Their 1991 self-titled album — commonly called The Black Album — remains one of the best-selling albums in music history.
More than four decades after forming, Metallica continue to headline stadiums around the world.
Fans Are Celebrating The Moment
The response from fans online has largely been positive, with many expressing excitement at seeing Hetfield happy again.
For someone whose music has often explored darker emotional territory, the image of the Metallica frontman proposing underwater while surrounded by whale sharks feels like a strangely poetic moment.

Full Album Stream: Backfire! – “The Last Confession”
Dutch hardcore OGs Backfire! are steps away from putting the pin in a 30-plus year career and they’re giving fans one last release before they go. The Last Confession is a mini-album, consisting of five tracks that put a bow on the band’s career and the various influences they’ve had over the years, from Madball, Agnostic Front and Biohazard to 2000s-era bands like Comeback Kid and Terror.
Backfire! have been somewhat tight-lipped about their retirement, offering little in the way of personal statements and choosing to let the music speak for itself. With songs like the fast-paced “Means to an End” and the anthemic ass-beater “Fallen Rebels,” it’s not hard to see why.
Dig in to The Last Confession below and hit up WTF Records to order it before it’s out on March 20.
