The Dead Daisies reunited with Glenn Hughes for a one-off performance on May 30, 2026, at the Arcada Theatre in St. Charles, Illinois. Performing under the The Purple Daisies name, the lineup featured Hughes handling vocals and bass alongside guitarist Doug Aldrich, guitarist David Lowy, and drummer Tommy Clufetos.
The show was split into two distinct sets. The first focused on 10 songs from The Dead Daisies‘ catalog, while the second turned its attention to a selection of classic Deep Purple material.
The response to the sold-out concert has now led to another appearance from The Purple Daisies. The band will return on October 2, 2026, for a second performance at The Canyon Club in Agoura Hills, California.
Fans attending the California date can expect the same format that made the Illinois show such a success, opening with The Dead Daisies material before shifting into a set built around songs made famous by Deep Purple.
The collaboration between Hughes and The Dead Daisies drew strong reactions from both fans and media, with attendees traveling from different parts of the world to catch the St. Charles performance. Interest in seeing the project return quickly grew after the concert.
“This wasn’t something we planned,” says Lowy. “The response from fans after the Arcada show was incredible. We had so many people asking if we’d do it again, so we’re excited to bring The Purple Daisies to Los Angeles for one more unforgettable night.”
Professionally filmed footage from the St. Charles show has also been released, featuring three songs from The Dead Daisies alongside three Deep Purple classics.
Doug Aldrich‘s guitar work, Tommy Clufetos‘s powerful drumming, and David Lowy‘s stage presence helped shape a performance that celebrated both The Dead Daisies‘ own material and the music that inspired them. The concert brought together the chemistry of experienced musicians with a set that balanced modern hard rock and classic influences.
Among the highlights are Deep Purple favorites “Burn”, “Highway Star”, and “Mistreated”, giving fans who missed the live event a chance to experience part of a performance that left a lasting impression on those who were there.
Glenn Hughes left The Dead Daisies in May 2023 after spending four years with the band. His departure opened the door for the return of John Corabi, marking Corabi’s second stint with The Dead Daisies after first joining in 2015 before making way for Hughes four years later.

If you’ve been hungering for some down-home, real-life, foot-stomping, hand-clapping blues music, then throw on Chris O’Leary’s brand new album, Blue Collar, and hang on. But before we get into the tasty musical spread cooking on this recording, allow me to tell you a little bit about the artist.
Chris O’Leary was born and raised in Mount Vernon, New York. As a youngster, his dad pointed him in the direction of the blues by introducing him to Muddy Waters, and since then he’s become a lifelong blues lover, taking up the harmonica at age 10. He’s a genuine songwriter, soulful vocalist, and phenomenal harmonica player. O’Leary is a U.S. Marine combat veteran who served seven years, including time during Desert Storm (thank you for your service), and a former federal law enforcement officer (thank you again for your service). I’m guessing that a fair amount of his songwriting is drawn from experiences during those times. He’s an award-nominated artist who has shared the stage with, or recorded alongside, the likes of Levon Helm (he was a member of Helm’s band), Hubert Sumlin, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Albert Lee, Jeff Healey, Jimmy Vivino, and James Cotton. He has taken his often humorous and honest performances all over the world.
Chris O’Leary has said this about his own songwriting: “I write what I know. That’s pretty much how I’ve always approached things.” I think that very quote is evidenced by listening to his songs.
Blue Collar is a collection of 11 quality tunes where no filler exists. Each song is well done, and those who contributed to the recording can be proud of what they’ve created. That includes Chris O’Leary, all of the outstanding, truly impressive musicians, and those involved in the recording, mixing, and mastering process. Bob Margolin and Lil’ Ed Williams, among others, make guest appearances on the album.
The opening track is a humorous, but honestly truthful, tune called “Bad Decisions.” I, for one, can vouch for the lyrics here: “Sometimes the best stories start with bad decisions.” How about you? I bet while you’re listening you’ll be thinking of one of your own bad decisions that made for a whale of a story later on. There’s some great picking here and some of that fine blues harmonica work by O’Leary.
Track four, a great little tune about one of my favorite things in life, is “One More Cup of Coffee.” It features some classic slide work by Lil’ Ed Williams of Lil’ Ed and the Blues Imperials. If you’re going to keep the beat with this one, you may need a cup or two of that high-octane, get-up-and-go juice. Chris O’Leary sings, “Give me one more cup of coffee.” If one cup is good, then two are better. Just grab ahold and hang on. This one is cooking.
“Justice Must Be Blind” is full of humor that mirrors a lot of real life. I can’t help thinking about Jerry Reed’s classic 1982 hit, “She Got the Goldmine (I Got the Shaft),” when I listen to this one. O’Leary sings about the judge in a divorce case and the way he splits the assets of a couple. “He said, nah, it’s gonna be a square deal. I’ll give you both a set of wheels. You’ll get the Schwinn (a bicycle); she’ll get the brand new Chevy.” Sounds like a fair deal, right? I almost guarantee you’ll be laughing along as you listen.
Track 10 on Blue Collar, “How’d I Ever Get Along,” is another comical, but sometimes true, reflection on that special person who co-occupies your humble abode. It’s the person you can never seem to satisfy. O’Leary sings sarcastically, “How did I ever get along without you; telling me what to do? I folded laundry, cleaned my kitchen; even mowed my own front lawn. I guess I didn’t know, I was doing it all wrong.” Aside from the great slow-blues vibe here, there is some solid musicianship on display in this song.
I absolutely love it when I get the opportunity to review a recording that is so impressive from start to finish, and Blue Collar is one of those rare jewels. The songwriting, musicianship, vocals, and arrangements are all exceptional.

Lorna Shore have released a new video for “War Machine”, offering fans a behind-the-scenes look at the band’s 2026 touring cycle. The footage was captured during the group’s recent European headlining run alongside Whitechapel, Shadow Of Intent, and Humanity’s Last Breath.
The video was directed by Nicholas Chance, with additional camera work provided by Daniel Hill. Drone footage was filmed by Tom and Milford of Bad Wolf Horizon.
At the same time, the band has launched a new line of merchandise featuring fresh designs, available exclusively through the band’s official website.
Beginning July 14, Lorna Shore will head back out on the road as direct support for the Motionless In White: The Sweat and Blood Tour. Later this year, the deathcore outfit will also take their headline show across Asia, Australia, and New Zealand.
“War Machine” appears on I Feel The Everblack Festering Within Me, Lorna Shore‘s fifth full-length album, released through Century Media Records. The record arrived three years after Pain Remains and earned recognition as one of the standout metal releases of 2025 from Kerrang!, Metal Hammer, and Loudwire. As some of you will have already seen, I have just released a new single comprising acoustic sketches recorded during my recent trip to Hydra, Greece.
Just a short walk from our apartment, Kamini Harbour gave the dual gifts of a gentle ocean sunset, followed immediately by the rising moon illuminating the hills. I’ve attempted to capture a little of this magic in the video for lead track Kamini…
Recorded using my daughter’s freshly restrung Yamaha F310, Kamini fell to me very quickly, the unfamiliar guitar suggesting new shapes and sounds.
Second track Whilst The Water Waves Goodbye is a composite of two separate acoustic sketches, held together by field recordings captured around the grounds and harbour of our Kamini base.
I originally envisioned this project stretching to an EP, but ultimately my gut was telling me that I’d captured all I needed to. The single is pay what you want on Bandcamp, or if streaming is your jam you can do so here. Much love.
