Guy Fieri Named Kumaâs Corner a Top 5 Restaurant in the U.S.
There are tons of eateries in the U.S. and even more way to make and consume a burger, but few locations peddling cow meat on a bun get recognition as lofty as Kuma’s Corner. For us metalheads, the food they serve is catered to us. For international food star/critic Guy Fieri, it’s a ‘top five restaurant’ here in the good ol’ U.S.of’A.
In a recently posted article over on Mental Floss, Fieri highlighted how unique Kuma’s Corner’s offerings were. All of their offerings are based on heavy metal bands and artists. We’re talking Metallica, Baroness, Ozzy… the list goes on. Hell, even our friends over at Metal Injection had a burger of their own.
In his post, Fieri says the following about the heavy metal burger bar that he featured on his show Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives:
“What makes this place so special isnât just the size of their burgers (though they’re pretty impressive). It’s the creativity, combining spicy peppers, specialty cheeses, and creamy sauces that seem stacked with a purpose. One burger, inspired by rock icons Black Sabbath, has especially captured Fieriâs admiration. Kuma’s Corner isn’t low-key about their menu, and that’s exactly what keeps customers coming back for more.”
With the designation given by Fieri, Kuma’s Corner president Ron Cain said the recognition was an honor.
âWeâve stayed consistent since day oneâbig flavors, fresh ingredients, and a dining room that feels like a metal show. Itâs an honor to see that resonate nationally.â
So if you’re in the Windy City and hankering for a burger, know that Kuma’s Corner not only caters to your metal tastes, but it’s also a top 5 restaurant according to the “Mayor of Flavortown.”

Track Premiere: Desert Collider â âThumpeRRRâ
Off we go to Italy, where the desert rock vibes are strong with the appropriatelty named psych-sludge outfit Desert Collider, who are introducing their new track, “ThumpeRRR,” off their upcoming full-length, Generation Ship: Endless Drift Through Infinity. It’s everything the the overly long title of the album promises, a wonderland of lazy, fuzzed-out riffs, mind-tweaking sonic explorations and sci-fi weirdness. And the blissed-out heaviness these dudesâFederico Costanzo (guitars/vocals/percussion/synths), Federico Gianfanti (vocals/synths), Manuel Colucci (bass), Andrea Casagranda (drums/percussion)âare laying down feels like an Italian Kyuss-Hawkwind mash-up.

Generation Ship: Endless Drift Through Infinity was produced, engineered and mixed by Andrea Cola and Desert Collider at StoneBridge Studios, Cesena, Italy. Mastering was done by Karl Daniel LidĂŠn. Â It’s set for release on CD, vinyl and digitally on March 6 via Small Stone Records. Place your preorder here.
Guitarist Federico Costanzo offered this regarding the new single:
“‘ThumpeRRR’ is built and inspired by the Dune universe. It opens immediately with a fast, driving tempo and hard-rockâleaning riffs maintained as a bird’s eye shot above the desert planet. Intertwined vocals appear throughout and generate a call-and-response effect, duelling in overlap with the narrations. Midway, everything drops into a suspended section where distant guitars manifest in the silence of the desert. The thumper is placed: rhythm, sand, quakes. As the tension builds up, synths and a pulsing choir let the song coil tighter and tighter, gradually layering back in until the ending peaks with the inevitable rise of the sandworm: sacred, ancient, colossal, unstoppable.”
