Female- Fronted Metal band Ice Chemicals have released their much anticipated full length sophomore album “The Lowest Point” via an Independent Label.
The Lowest Point follows the release of 2022’s debut Alchemy. Formed in 2020, they have built their fanbase around groovy female vocals, combined with fierce growls to create a unique sound in modern standards. They are heavily influenced by Nü Metal and Metalcore, citing bands like Slipknot and Korn as major influences on their brand of aggressive metal, combined with dynamic grooves and pop choruses. The band describes themselves as “Pre-apocalyptic”, exploring themes of dystopia, alienation and revolution.
The Lowest Point begins unevenly, as the album seems unsure of its sound. “Turn to Dust” and “eXtasy” are heavy metal tracks with conflicting voices that may confuse the listener. It’s only when the strong grooves of “I am the System” and “Neckbreaker” start that Ice Chemicals establish their identity as a groove metal band.
At that moment, The Lowest Point picks up speed with strong beats, powerful drums, and harsh screams in “Divinity” and “Inside my Head”. Anaïs Hadli’s smooth, clear vocals contrast with Geoffrey Chrétien’s intense growls. The band combines nu metal with dark electronics over heavy, low-tuned guitars and drums. The riffs are sharp, enhanced by swirling electronics and chaotic vocals on tracks like “Social Justice”. This makes the band sound unstable and erratic, reflecting the notions of their topics in their songs.

The album finishes with the Anais Hadli fronted tracks “Die and Retry” and “Lost My Way”, which brings melodies to the often chaotic nature of the album.
