  • The Black Keys Announce Place Bell Show

The Black Keys announced the Peaches ‘n Kream World Tour, a six-month run across North America and Europe that hits Place Bell in Laval on October 16. The tour launches April 24 in Fort Lauderdale and wraps October 18 in Windsor, Ontario, supporting the duo’s 14th studio album Peaches!, arriving May 1 via Easy Eye Sound/Warner Records.

The tour follows the band’s No Rain, No Flowers run last year, which moved over 250,000 tickets across North America and Europe with sold-out shows at Red Rocks Amphitheatre, Los Angeles’ Greek Theatre, and London’s Alexandra Palace Park. All support acts on the new tour come from Dan Auerbach’s Easy Eye Sound label, with lineups varying by city. Jeremie Albino opens the Canadian leg, including the Place Bell date.

Peaches! was recorded live in one room with minimal overdubs, the first album the band has mixed entirely themselves since 2006’s Magic Potion. Dan Auerbach described it as the band’s “most natural record” since their 2002 debut The Big Come Up. The sessions happened while Auerbach’s father was staying in his Nashville home in the final stages of esophageal cancer. Patrick Carney, Auerbach’s bandmate and longtime friend, knew “it would be good for Dan to have something to do.”

“We weren’t making a record. We were just jamming, like this is for us,” Auerbach said in a statement. “Really primal, in a moment when all the nerves were raw, just kinda screaming. I think my dad getting sick made me not give a fuck and just wanna scream for a bit.” Carney added, “Everything was all cut live in one with no separation, including vocals. It was a nightmare to mix but we got it sounding raw and filthy.”

The band released the single You Got To Lose last week. The album features cover art by Memphis photographer William Eggleston, who also shot the cover for their 2021 album Delta Kream. Patrick Carney’s brother Michael designed the package, as he did for early Black Keys albums including Brothers, which won a Grammy for its cover.

Artist pre-sale starts Thursday, February 12 at 10am local. General on-sale starts Friday, February 13 at 10am local.

  • Wampyric Rites Summon the Moon on “Cuando seamos absorbidos por la obscuridad” (Track Premiere)

Of course, Wampyric Rites are releasing an album, Under the Tragic Fullmoon of the Vampire, on Friday the 13th in the coldest month of the year. That on-the-nose mise-en-scene comes about rarely and with the Ecuadorian band’s embodiment of all things feral and nocturnal, it’d be inappropriate not to take the opportunity. Although, what’s traditionally seen as appropriate doesn’t exist in their raw black metal, pushed aside by cassette-tape quality hiss and flat soundscapes. On their upcoming third full-length record, Wampyric Rites tapers their focus onto black metal’s skeleton, dismissing the dungeon synth of their previous works. The benefits of this are on full display on “Cuando seamos absorbidos por la obscuridad,” which you can listen to below.

“Cuando seamos absorbidos por la obscuridad” follows the principles laid out by Transylvanian Hunger over 30 years ago, bouncing between frosty, antagonistic black metal and d-beat, although it damns variation and dynamism to hypnotise. Which is to say, the track is repetitive. You could say Wampyric Rites are invoking a trance, or that they’re hiding their power level in service of the song, but they are as stubborn as a pitbull. Fortunately, like watching a marathon runner set a new record pace, that stubbornness is part of the appeal and a chance for the duo to flaunt their stamina. The other part of the appeal is that “Cuando seamos absorbidos por la obscuridad,” and Under the Tragic Fullmoon of the Vampire, espouses a devotion to one aesthetic and explores its smallest pockets. Such primitiveness will turn some off, but that’s the point. Wampyric Rites are checking IDs at the door to see if you can weather the full moon, or if you’ll lose your mind before dawn.

Under the Tragic Fullmoon of the Vampire is available this Friday via Inferna Profundus Records.

Cryogenically Frozen” is the latest single from UK progressive death metallers CRYPTIC SHIFT. The track comes off the band’s Overspace & Supertime full-length, set to drop on February 27th through Metal Blade Records.

Issues vocalist/guitarist Alexander Bradley, “Contrasting the prolonged, cinematic opening of our previous album [Visitations From Enceladus] ‘Cryogenically Frozen’ wastes no time by bursting into a flurry of jazz fusion-esque movements as if metal had an alternate timeline progressing from the lineage of masters like Cynic, Pestilence, and Allan Holdsworth, whilst still remaining true to our death/thrashing tendencies with lightning riffs tailor-made for the headbangers and circle pitters! Simultaneously, all aspects of our songwriting propel our new character, ‘The Recaller,’ through her sci-fi adventures, beginning with a cybertronic shootout and meditations in dreams and consciousness. Being one of the shorter songs on the album defined by a pulsing verse and chorus, it ends with a moment of calm before the true centerpiece of Overspace & Supertime begins with the 29-minute ‘Stratocumulus Evergaol’ which we can’t wait for all Astrodeath freaks to explore on the February 27th.

While not commonly known as an extraterrestrial hotspot, Leeds faced an encounter of another kind in 2015 when Bradley and drummer Ryan Sheperson set out to accomplish a project embodying their joint passion for the art of science fiction and heavy metal music. The band unveiled their debut full-length, Visitations From Enceladus, in 2020. The offering received critical acclaim for its adventurous, progressive technical death thrash compositions, a twisted form of extreme metal simply referred to as the “Phenomenal Technological Astrodeath.

Overspace & Supertime continues the conceptual and musical themes of their debut and delivers a new standard of technical thrash/death metal showmanship, including returning influences of progressive writing, harmonized with their fantastical storytelling. “The concept of Overspace & Supertime plays as an alternative reality to the happenings of Visitations From Enceladus, taking our character into new dimensions filled with both greater adventures and more bizarre encounters,” notes Sheperson. “Whilst the concept themes of our sci-fi tale have grown, so have our efforts in synthesizing it with the ultimate Astrodeath soundscape. The record takes the listener on a deeper journey through the fusion of our influences, with some exciting twists and turns along the way.”

In an advance 9/10 review of the record, Metal Hammer UK writes, “CRYPTIC SHIFT are operating on a higher plane of prog metal consciousness, and Overspace & Supertime is a potentially life-changing act of artistic audacity.Deaf Forever Germany concurs with a 9.5/10 rating, “In the future, all technical thrash/death bands from the Vektor/Voivod/Blood Incantation school will be measured against this record!” Adds Sweden Rock Magazine with a 9/10 score, “This is already a candidate for the year’s, if not the best, then definitely the most ambitious work.”

Overspace & Supertime was produced by Jack Helliwell and mastered by Greg Chandler (Esoteric, My Dying Bride) and features the stunning artwork of Jesse Jacobi.

Overspace & Supertime will be released on CD and digital formats as well as 2xLP in the following color variants:

  • MASTERPLAN Announces New Album “Metalmorphosis” And Shares New Single “Chase The Light”

German power metal veterans Masterplan have confirmed their return with a brand-new studio album, Metalmorphosis, due out June 26, 2026 through Frontiers Music Srl.

The record marks the band’s first full set of new material since Novum Initium in 2013, and it comes with the release of a new single and video, “Chase The Light”.

Guitarist Roland Grapow explained the meaning behind the track, calling it: “a dark and aggressive track about fear, control, and a world that feeds on pain. It shows how power rises while compassion fades, trapping people in silence and despair. The song pushes through chaos and suffering toward release — a call to break free, heal old wounds, and reclaim your strength”.

The new album represents a major moment for Masterplan, both musically and personally. Grapow spoke about what the title Metalmorphosis reflects for the band: “Metalmorphosis really captures what this album means to us: a transformation, but still true to the spirit of Masterplan”.

He added: “We’ve grown over the years, both as musicians and as people, and you can hear that in the new songs. Some ideas go back many years, and now they’ve finally come to life. It’s powerful, melodic, and emotional — classic Masterplan, but with a new energy”.

Formed in 2001 after Grapow and drummer Uli Kusch exited Helloween, Masterplan quickly became one of the most consistent names in German power metal, known for sharp musicianship, strong hooks, and a modern edge.

After years away from studio releases, the band has returned with a fresh deal through Frontiers Music Srl, setting the foundation for a new chapter.

Metalmorphosis is being positioned as both a continuation of their signature sound and a heavier step forward, combining aggression with the melodic style that has always defined Masterplan.

With decades of experience behind them and new momentum in place, Masterplan are set to deliver one of the most closely watched power metal releases of 2026.
