AN NCS PREMIERE: TOOMS — “LOWLANDER”
(written by Islander) The cover image on Tooms‘ new album Karst might make most people wonder about the musical direction this trio from the west of Ireland decided to follow over the years that have passed since their 2020 full-length debut, The Orb Offers Massive Signals. It doesn’t seem to match up with the band’s […]

Blast Worship: Common Decency
Where they from?
Binghamton, NY. The Philadelphia Flyers and Philadelphia 76ers both got swept in the second round of the playoffs. I would brag, gloat even except for the fact that the Mets are a bajillion games under .500 and it’s not even Memorial Day. Misery loves company, I guess. Why the hype?
Our beloved Binghamton badasses are back better than ever. Common Decency are a throwback to early aughts grungy grindcore/powerviolence in the same vein as Chainsaw to the Face and Spoonful of Vicodin. The band conjures bursts of rage at the speed of hate while sounding like they recorded everything in a hantavirus-infected trash compactor. Something like this would have fit right in on This Comp Kills Fascists.Latest release?
Split w/ Self Love, out now on Rat Mix records. It’s the janky stop/start sections that really do it for me here. Also love that the vocalist sounds like a drunk little league Dad yelling at the umpires for missing ball and strikes. Springtime in Binghamton must be beautiful. The post Blast Worship: Common Decency appeared first on Decibel Magazine.

Song Review: Following The Signs “Evolve”

Metalcore act, Following The Signs, formed in 2017 out of Corc City, Ireland. The 5-piece act is made up of Alan Jevens (vocals), Noel Crowley and Vincent Renoux (guitars), Rory Taylor (bass), and Chris O'Hanlon (drums). Following their 2023 album "Conflictions", Following The Signs just released their newest EP "Evolve" on March 20th, 2026.
The title track, "Evolve," begins with upbeat, chiming synth keys that grow in dynamics before launching into melodic distorted guitar chords as alternated screaming and singing vocals build a sense of vocal contrast. Slamming drums and heavy guitars are met by the electronic synth influences, creating a unique sound that changes things up from traditional metal.
After the second chorus, Following The Signs jumps into a brutal breakdown as speeding double bass drumming leads into slowed tempo destruction as low growls and piercing screams cover the heavy vocal range. After a jazzy guitar interlude, the band launches into a final anthemic chorus to close out the track.
Fans of progressive metal, metalcore, and melodic metal will enjoy Following The Sign's mix of melody and heaviness. You can stream "Evolve" available on all platforms now.

Song Review: Scott Middlin “D3SATUR8”

Australia-born artist Scott Middlin released his latest EP, "A Taste Of Chaos," on February 20th, 2026. In addition to his solo work, Scott has earned recognition for his work as the vocalist of post-hardcore act Emecia and is also a published author of his book "Dyslexic Kid," which recounts his fight with cancer and his journey as a musician. Middlin is also a tattoo artist in addition to his music and writing.
"D3SATUR8" begins with explosively heavy drop-tuned guitar chugging and ferocious low growls, instantly building a crushing deathcore sound. A choppy high synth adds a sense of melody before the song suddenly pulls back as lofi beats, clean vocals, and atmospheric pads build a softer sound. Suddenly, the track slams back into full intensity heaviness before introducing the song's singing chorus. Scott Middlin, within the first minute, shows a fearless ability to switch between ambient indie-pop-esque melodies and extreme metal within a moment. The juxtaposition between heavy and soft elements reminds me a little bit of modern metalcore, but Middlin's track doesn't follow the "formulaic" style of most metalcore bands.
At just over 4 minutes, Scott manages to fit in a satisfying contrast between dynamics as alternating singing and screaming lead into a brutal breakdown as distant singing adds melody behind visceral instrumentals. The song fades out with a final lofi reminiscent section that finalizes the track with a gentle note.
Overall, "D3SATUR8" is an impressive release that fans of extreme metal, metalcore, and hard rock will enjoy. You can stream Scott Middlin's new EP, available on all streaming platforms now!

Roger Daltrey announces ‘A Great Night Out!’ U.S. solo tour
SIR ROGER DALTREY ANNOUNCES 2026 U.S. TOUR
A GREAT NIGHT OUT!
END-OF-SUMMER 20 CITY TOUR TO SHOWCASE HALL OF FAME ROCKER’S CAPTIVATING SOLO WORK, WHO CLASSICS, AND SURPRISES

Rock legend Sir Roger Daltrey announces a run of U.S. solo tour dates, celebrating his return two years after his widely praised Semi-Acoustic 2024 Summer outing, and well-rested from the acclaimed Who farewell tour which critics hailed as ‘a powerful reminder of just how vital the band is to the rock canon.’ The much-anticipated solo trek has been dubbed – A Great Night Out!
The tour will kick off August 23rd at the Mesa Arts Center in Mesa, AZ, and run through September, including a rare Daltrey performance at New York City’s The Town Hall on September 27th and wrapping up in Medford, MA at the Chevalier Theatre on September 29th (see all dates below.)
The recently knighted rock stalwart will be backed by the same musical lineup he performed with on his 2024 tour, featuring a hand-picked ensemble of musicians. Simon Townshend – guitar, Billy Nicholls – mandolin, Jody Linscott – percussion, Doug Boyle – guitar, John Hogg – Bass, Katie Jacoby – violin, Steve Weston – harmonica, Geraint Watkins – keyboards/accordion, Scott Devours – Drums.
The 2026 dates will spotlight Roger Daltrey’s unmistakable voice and deep catalog, blending iconic selections from his remarkable solo material, reimagined cover songs and Who rarities. Roger will be building on the momentum of his 2024 performances, which were widely celebrated for their acoustic intimacy, storytelling, and enduring vocal presence, with Roger also offering up renditions of songs seldom performed live by The Who or Roger Daltrey.
The 2024 tour drew raves, with USA Today commenting, “Put Roger Daltrey on a stage and he’s going to rock” and Forbes calling attention to the casual interplay of songs and stories delivered by a relaxed and funny Daltrey – “witty, charming, and engaging. An absolute masterclass…’’ The upcoming shows promise another fresh, revealing glimpse of the charismatic singer, with more banter and straight-shooting rapport as he continues to reign as one of rock’s most commanding live performers.
Roger Daltrey comments, “Well it’s one more for the road. After finishing The Who’s final tour of the US, it’s time for me as a solo artist to possibly do the same. After touring solo with different bands of musicians for the last 17 years, a less grueling life becomes more attractive, I’ll see. With my present line up of nine musicians, I have this opportunity to see your beautiful country and enjoy the hospitality you have shown me over so many years. I’ll be off the backing tracks and always searching for different soundscapes to present the songs. It’s a lot of fun and gives me the chance to have a great night out.”
Sir Roger was honoured with a knighthood by The Prince of Wales at Windsor Castle, this past December for his contribution to charity and music. Roger launched and curated the Teenage Cancer Trust concerts initiative at the Royal Albert Hall which has raised millions for the charity over the past 25 years.
