  • Queens Of The Stone Age announce new album title via bloody game of five-finger fillet. “Does it hurt? Of course it hurts!”

Queens Of The Stone Age have confirmed their new album title via the medium of five-finger fillet. It is believed to be the first time that the dangerous game – in which participants rapidly stab a knife back and forth between their spread-eagled fingers – has been used in such a manner.

In the announcement video, frontman Josh Homme and guitarist-keyboardist Dean Fertita play the game, and while Fertita is clearly a well-practised expert, the novice Homme plunges the knife deep into his hand on his first attempt.

    “Does it hurt?” asks Fertida.

“Yes, it fucking hurts, dude,” Homme responds

    “Pull it out.”

    “I can’t do it.”

Homme eventually retrieves the knife from its fleshy target, and, after a moment of calm, a fountain of blood erupts from the wound, drenching both musicians.

Perfecth, Queens Of The Stone Age’s ninth studio album and the follow-up to 2023’s In Times New Roman…, will be released later in the year. A single, Easy Street, was released last month. The band are currently on the road in the US with Foo Fighters, and have shows in Australia and New Zealand lined up in the buildup to Christmas. Full dates below.

  • Alex Okami “Permanent Disease”

My name is Alex Okami. This is my new single, “Permanent Disease.” It’s a song about life-long ailments taking a hold of your mental and physical health to the point that it feels like your world is permanently over. As a sufferer of negative health conditions I needed an outlet to express how I was feeling about my situation.

    “Permanent Disease” lyrics:

I’m in search for the truth
    All throughout the obscene
    I’ve been wandering halls
    That keep leading to dreams

    Staring up at the sky
    Wondering when I will fall
Wiped the blood off my lips
    Now I’m nothing at all
    Now I’m nothing at all

    Persist, persist through me
I am the one who can not speak
    Persist, persist through me
    I am the permanent disease

    Felt the coldest embrace
    From life’s withering arms
Took a leap off the ledge
    And I swallowed the stars

  • Jack Slamer – The Mask Of Broken Glass

Swiss rock band Jack Slamer have announced their brand new album Mask Of Broken Glass, which will be out on November 27th via Radicalis. The title track of the album is now streaming on all digital platforms. The band comprises of Florian Ganz (vocals), Omar Fra (guitar), Marco Hostettler (guitar), Hendrik Ruhwinkel (bass), and Adrian Böckli (drums)

Jack Slamer comment on The Mask Of Broken Glass: “After the songwriting was done, our singer came up with the idea for this song. Within an hour, we had shaped that rough diamond into the title track of the album. ‘The Mask Of Broken Glass’ is a 70s-style, forward-driving, high-energy track that unleashes the full force of Jack Slamer. Lyrically, it’s about a friendship falling apart because the other person has changed for the worse. The mask of broken glass is the moment you realize they never changed at all, you were simply wrong about who they were.”

I love the pace, the mood, the riffs (and the solo, reminding me of Deep Purple), the powerful rhythm section and the old style approach to the song, fun, energetic and amazingly performed by the band, with catchy vocals and very enjoyable start to finish, with a vintage element but modern at the same time.

  • Listening Now : NP York – As bold as a heart

NP York delivers a warm and spirited indie folk-rock anthem with As Bold as a heart, built around ringing guitars, organic instrumentation, and a powerful, memorable chorus. The song celebrates the irrational courage of the heart — its strange ability to keep choosing love despite knowing the risks involved. York turns that paradox into something uplifting, balancing reflective songwriting with a genuine sense of musical joy. The live-band energy gives the track a natural, unpolished character, while the bigger chorus pushes it toward an anthemic finish. Following the introspective themes of his previous singles, As Bold as a heart feels like a confident step forward, combining folk-rock warmth with a more expansive, stadium-sized sensibility and showcasing York’s instinct for emotionally direct, melodic songwriting.
