AC/DC is bringing its PWR/UP Pop Up experience along for the ride when the “PWR/UP” tour rolls through Canada in 2026, giving fans a free, open-to-all hangout spot in every city on the run.

As the tour hits Canadian soil for what’s being billed as its closing chapter, the traveling pop-up will set up shop at each stop, offering fans somewhere to gather, get PWRD/UP and soak in the atmosphere surrounding one of rock’s most enduring live acts.

The “PWR/UP” tour takes its name from AC/DC‘s 2020 record Pwr/Up, which topped the charts in 21 countries. The trek kicked off with the band’s comeback performance at Power Trip in California back in 2023 and has since packed out stadiums on four continents. As the tour winds down, Canadian fans get their own shot at the pre-show buildup courtesy of the pop-up.

Each stop will come loaded with exclusive merch, AC/DC-themed grub and drinks, tour props, custom visuals, photo setups, ticket giveaways, “PWR/UP” preview events and a shot at winning a guitar signed by Angus Young.

Location specifics, hours, food menus, giveaways, preview event details, and merch drops will be posted here as each city approaches.

Fans can expect a curated lineup of pop-up-exclusive gear, including apparel, accessories, posters and limited-run collectibles made specifically for the tour.

Each city will also get first crack at a limited run of that stop’s event shirt and poster, available at the pop-up a full day before they hit the stadium or go up for sale online.

No two stops will look alike. Every pop-up takes on the personality of its host city and venue while still tying back to the tour as a whole.

Venue selection wasn’t random, either. Each location was picked because it’s already a hub for local fans and music culture, letting every city put its own spin on the setup. Custom food and drink menus built around the band will turn these spots into proper pre-show meeting points, with some cities getting specialty items and collectible cups.

A handful of locations will also host live sets from local School Of Rock house bands, plus broadcasts with area radio partners, adding some hometown flavor to the festivities.

Every city gets its own “PWR/UP” preview event, a first-look gathering for press, media, partners and a small group of lucky fans ahead of the public opening.

Fans can sign up here for a shot at getting in. A random draw picks 100 fans per city to join press and other guests early, and those winners walk away with a free gift made just for the preview.

Each location will feature a mock stage setup where fans can snap photos with a replica of Young‘s guitar and enter on-site for a shot at the real thing, a guitar that will travel to every pop-up before landing in Philadelphia to be signed by Young himself and handed off to one lucky winner who entered in person.

Some cities will layer in additional promotions through radio partners, venues, social media, email and local fan communities.

The pop-up will greet fans the day before each show and again on show day itself, hitting every Canadian city on the tour route. Here’s where and when:

08/12-13: Vancouver, BC — Commodore Ballroom
09/11-12: Montreal, QC — Foufounes Électriques
09/15-16: Toronto, ON — Steam Whistle

Robin Trower will release his new studio album, Shine, on September 25 via Provogue / Artone Label Group. The legendary British guitarist has also released the album’s first single, “Live Your Time.”

The 81-year-old guitarist continues a prolific stretch that has produced eight studio albums over the past decade. Trower says his drive to continue creating new music remains unchanged.

“I think you’ve either got to keep pushing – or give up.”

Trower recorded Shine at Studio 91 in Newbury before moving to engineer Sam Winfield’s new facility, The Pines, to complete the album. Trower produced the record and handled guitar and bass, with drummer Chris Taggart and longtime vocalist Richard Watts rounding out the studio lineup.

“The strength of his vocals, the beauty of his vocal tone – he’s so musical,” Trower says of Watts. “I usually write with Richard in mind. I can hear it all in my head.”

The album finds Trower addressing the current state of the world while maintaining an optimistic outlook.

“I agree with people that it’s a very dark time. But I don’t want to make gloomy music. I think that most of these songs are positive.”

The first single, “Live Your Time,” features a soul-funk-influenced riff and Trower’s signature guitar tone.

“The opening riff of Live Your Time is one of the best things I’ve ever come up with,” he says. ” It’s always very loud in the studio, and that’s how you get the tone, by cranking the amp. That’s another song where I’m saying, ‘Calm down, it’s all going to work out. Just get the most out of your life.’”

Shine follows Trower’s 2025 album Come And Find Me and moves his solo catalog closer to 30 releases. His career stretches back to the 1960s and includes his tenure with Procol Harum, his landmark 1974 album Bridge Of Sighs and collaborations with artists including Jack Bruce, Bryan Ferry and Maxi Priest.

Trower says maintaining the quality of his recent work remains a priority.

“I think, over the past few years, I have set quite a high standard. Now I’m determined to keep that going. To still have the energy to work, that is a real blessing.”

Along with the new album, Trower will return to the road with a run of UK dates from August 31 through September 5, followed by a U.S. tour from September 15 through October 14.

“It’s great to get that energy back off an audience,” Trower says, “but I just love recording too. It’s always fun, you know? Playing guitar: that’s what I do, and that’s what I love.”

For Trower, the steady flow of musical ideas continues to fuel his creativity more than six decades into his career.

“Really, if I have a gift,” he concludes, “it’s probably that I come up with ideas. Ideas for songs, ideas for lead work. Certainly, that’s what keeps me going. It’s just so exciting to see something blossoming into a new song.”

Welcome to this weeks edition of Devil’s Island! Every week we maroon a band or artist on the island and see what they get up to, how they cope with being all alone on a small island in the middle of the ocean. It’s not your average desert island and we’ll see just how each person copes with the extreme conditions.

This week when we arrived at Devil’s Island we find Xenith sat on the beach. The island is far from their home, so how did they end up here and how did they cope with life on Devil’s Island?

Welcome to The Razors’e Edge and our somewhat lovely, warm desert island. Don’t worry about it’s name I’m sure it’s not as bad as that would suggest.

You’re marooned here on this island, but before you ended up shipwrecked you chose one album that you couldn’t live without. Which album did you each chose and why?

Billy: Blackwater Park by Opeth. It just got a bit of everything and riffs for absolute days.
Casey: Peace sells…but who’s buying. I would have chosen Rust but Peace is so good because it’s got the clean tones, the dips, the peaks and the valleys and all that.
Jamo: It got to be Stop at nothing by Dying Fetus, it’s just so heavy.
Karim: Seventh son of a seventh son, it’s my favourite album ever and it’s so perfect. 

Just behind that palm tree is a shack for each of you to sleep in, with enough space for you to put up a poster on the wall of one album cover. What album cover do you each chose and why?

Billy: Because it’s got such a unique feel and vibe I’d say Witchtanic Hellucinations by Acid Witch.
Jamo: If we’re talking solely for the artwork I’m saying Into the pandemonium by Celtic Frost.
Casey: I’m saying integrity> by JME. Another good one would be mugshot by Pete & Baz.
Karim: Nargaroth Seven Tears Are Flowing to the River single artwork, just cause it’s so black metal.

There’s also a bar on this here island. But alas each of you only get to choose one drink for the entirety of your stay. What’s your tipple of choice?

Billy: Probably vodka lemonade, pretty much the only drink I’ll have.
Jamo: Irn-bru, gotta represent for the homies in Scotland.
Casey: Random drama, it’s a drink at Yes Bar, its so nice. It’s like apple juice and rum it’s so good.
Karim: Water, I go through like 4 litres a day, I’d need water.

Your suitcases were lost when your ship sank, but you each managed to salvage one item of band merch. What’s the merch and for what band?

Billy: My Warning hoodie. I got it at Damnation last year so it has a lot of sentimentality.
Jamo: My Destruktor shirt.Everything else is superfluous to me.
Casey: Probably my Cavalera long sleeve because I got that when I saw him.
Karim: Opeth Sorceress T-shirt because it’s just such good artwork.

You’re sat on the island thinking “I’m stuck here on this island with my bandmates for eternity”… who would you rather have been shipwrecked with?

Jamo: Nobody else. There’s no one else I know better.
Casey: I’d probably just choose to be alone if it wasn’t with the band.
Billy: Yeah I can’t really think of anyone else I’d choose.
Karim: Probably like Chuck Shuldnier, I’d invite him to the island.

There’s a walkman in your pocket, on the tape inside is the recording of the one live show that stands out for you. It could be any show, from any band, anywhere in the world. What show is on that walkman?

Casey: Freddie Gibbs at academy 3 in 2019.
Jamo: Carcass, Nails, Exodus, Kreator. Carcass were definitely my favourite of the night though.  
Billy: Unto Others at the star and garter in like 2022? Hands down one of the best shows I’ve ever been to.
Karim: I’d say Kiss because it was my first concert, but Iron Maiden last year were deffo the best band I’ve seen.

You’re getting desperate, you decide the only course of action is to put a message in a bottle and hope someone finds it. Your message could be to any member of any band, but should be the most suitable for a rescue attempt. Who is it?

Billy: On the nose answer but Stewart Copeland from The Police, for obvious reasons.
Jamo: I’m gonna say Keanu Reeves because he’s in that band, he’s so chill and he’d help me out. Either him or Paul McCartney because he’s got the yellow submarine, he’d well find it with his yellow submarine.
Casey: Eamon from the chats, cause at least if he can’t save me, he’d bring some beers n that probably.
Karim: Taylor Swift because she’s got like a million jets.

You’ve been stuck here a while and food supplies are running low. There’s only one thing for it… which fellow band member gets sacrificed to help the others survive?

N/A, we’re fishing.

Karim: I don’t like fish so I’ll survive on coconuts.

Finally, when the ship sank you each managed to save one person from the wreckage. That person is the one musician that has influenced your career the most, shaped your way of thinking and your outlook on life. Who did you save?

Billy: Mikael Åkerfeldt all the way.
Jamo: It’d probably be Justin Chancellor.
Casey: Dave Mustaine.
Karim: Gene Hoglan, he is peak.

William Orbit, the British producer famous for his work with people like Madonna and Blur, has passed away. In a social media statement on Orbit’s accounts, his family and friends say that he died on July 23. No cause of death has been reported. Orbit was 69.

Hailing from Finspång, Sweden, Sweet Teeth has the self-awareness to refer to its sound as “Hüskerrock.” There’s just no denying that this foursome worships daily at the Church of Bob Mould. But as it turns out, that doesn’t have to be a bad thing. If ten thousand bands can make a genre out of emulating the Ramones, why can’t we have at least one band turning out the kinds of records that we wished Bob Mould was making in the post-Sugar years of the late ’90s and 2000s? As Niek has stated, Sweet Teeth was more or less keeping this particular sound alive prior to Sugar’s reunion. I might go as far as to say that the songs on the band’s new album The Void That Eats The Heart can stand toe-to-toe with (or maybe even top) Sugar’s new tracks. Of course this band has the style down pat. Those massive, fuzzy guitars just blow out of the speakers. And Jocke on drums is an absolute monster. But beyond that, the band has the tunes as well. These guys understand how to write truly excellent punky alternative rock songs that are full of heart and lyrical substance. The passion that this band puts into its music is palpable. I have to admit that the first time I heard Sweet Teeth, I wondered if that really was Bob Mould on vocals (ha ha)! From the first note, the musical inspiration is obvious. But if this is Hüskerrock, it’s the gold standard of Hüskerrock. Who cares about originality when the music is this good? This record instantly transports me back to the ’90s but sounds absolutely vital in the world of 2026.
