  • Nothing But Thieves Share Slick New Track ā€˜Baby Kool (Evelyn)’

Nothing But Thieves have shared another piece of their upcoming album ‘Stray Dogs’, and it’s a left turn in the most wonderful of ways.

Titled ‘Baby Kool (Evelyn)’, it’s a ice cold and effortlessly slick piece of alt-rock with plenty of emo and tendencies thrown in for good measure. As always, bolstered by an incredible vocal performance from Conor Mason, it showcases a different side to the band. One that allows for a bit of silliness and tongue-in-cheek fun.

And that is ramped up via the bizarre video that accompanies, featuring a lovely dog a new alien character to become obsessed with.

The band had this to say about it:

ā€œThis one felt like we wandered back into Dom’s garage, where the band started. It’s got one foot in glam and the other in grunge. Those two worlds’ probably shouldn’t get along, which is maybe why they did. We often find that’s where the interesting
    stuff is.ā€

‘Stray Dogs’ is set for release on September 05.

    Here is the excellent ‘Evolution’:

  • Arankai Announces New Album ā€˜The Shape Of Blue’

Arankai has revealed everything you need to know about their boundless new full-length album.

Titled ‘The Shape Of Blue’, it will be released on October 30 via Hopeless Records. It serves as the follow-up to ‘A Portrait Of Red’, which arrived last year.

Arankai had this to say about the project:

ā€œThe Shape of Blueā€, like its predecessor ā€œA Portrait of Red,ā€ covers a range of human experiences: rebellion, pride, sacrifice, to name a few that stick out. I tend to draw from personal experiences, but with this particular record I found myself writing songs that reflected specific situations involving other people; sometimes I wasn’t even a part of those situations, it was just a powerful moment I found inspiring.

I really wanted this record to be something special. I did a lot of things I haven’t done before, wrote songs in styles that were new to me; I really wanted to give people a new, exciting experience. I believe ā€œThe Shape of Blueā€, as an album, is a strong, emotive piece. And I hope people enjoy it as much as I loved making it.ā€

    The artwork looks like this:

Whilst the tracklisting is more like this:

    1) Helter Skelter (feat. buffalo farm)
    2) I Hope It Hurts
    3) Disobey
    4) Sick & Sweet
    5) Playing God
    6) Letdown
    7) Temper
    8) Choke
    9) Convince Me
    10) Have Faith
    11) The Shape of Blue

You can also check out a fresh taste of the record in the form of ‘I Hope It Hurts’, a mesh of hardcore brute force, metalcore chugs and post-hardcore melodies.

    Arankai had this to add:

ā€˜I Hope It Hurts’, isĀ ā€œa flavour-meld of hardcore riffs and vocals with punk and pop elements,ā€Ā according to Arankai.ā€To me it’s not enough that a song is ā€œheavyā€ – I need some kind of impact that makes me fall in love with the track. This song covers the idea of separating yourself from people who have taken advantage of you. Too often we stay in the same circle of familiarity even if it’s detrimental. So it is with peace we can say, ‘May you live and learn.‘”
