Live Review: King 810 – Corporation, Sheffield

With the UK in the middle of a heatwave, it’s only fitting that Flint outfit King 810 bring even more heat to Sheffield’s Corporation.

With only a couple of UK shows on this run, the Flint rockers have chosen local melodic metallers Trajan to open the evening, and they kick things off in style with quick, intricate riffs reminiscent of Machine Head, Lamb of God, and more recently Sheffield’s own Malevolence. Packing out the stage, the five-piece show exactly how strong the Steel City’s metal scene is. Lead vocalist Brad’s guttural vocal prowess adds even more depth to the band’s already impressive sound. With a few supporters already in the crowd, they quickly win over plenty more as they tear through songs like the crushing Sinner, the blisteringly fast Narcissist, and the thumping Endless. It’s a hugely impressive opening set that proves Trajan are a band well worth keeping an eye on.

Bristol nu-metal quartet Profiler are up next with a set packed full of energy that makes everyone in the room feel like they’ve travelled straight back to the late 1990s and early 2000s. As the opening riff of Illusion hits and the crowd are told to “wake the fuck up and lose your shit”, there’s an immediate shift in atmosphere that sets the tone for the next 40 minutes. Growing up on bands like Linkin Park, it’s impossible not to notice the similarities, with vocalist Mike Evans’ blond hair even evoking memories of Chester Bennington as he throws himself around the stage. Somehow, he still manages to deliver a consistently powerful vocal performance throughout. Guitarist Jay Remnant’s tone is perfectly suited to the band’s sound, particularly during Revert, whose bouncing intro gets the room moving. As a collective, Profiler show that British nu-metal is alive and kicking, and they’re rapidly becoming one of its leading names.

As the time arrives for tonight’s headline act, fans are treated to a no-barrier experience after technical issues in the venue’s original room force the show into the smaller space. Packed tightly against the stage, King 810 fans eagerly await the band’s arrival following a lengthy spoken introduction played over the PA. Rather than dampening the mood, it only heightens the anticipation before the Flint outfit finally emerge to Killem All, whose brutally heavy chorus immediately sparks chaos in the pit. With three releases in their Rustbelt Numetal series having arrived since June 2025, there’s plenty of new material for the band to draw from tonight.

David Gunn’s growling screams are all the crowd need to stay fired up as the band let both their performance and back catalogue do the talking. Gunn prowls the stage during Rustbelt Numetal, before later dropping to his knees in a moment of raw emotion that perfectly captures the intensity of the band’s live show. The Sheffield crowd are also treated to one of the band’s newest tracks, Hungry Gods, released only a few days earlier, and it’s already met with an enthusiastic reception. Their chant-along choruses are matched by thunderous backing vocals from the audience, adding even more energy to an already hot and sweaty Corporation.

Backed up by Eugene Gill’s slick bass playing and the masked members of the band (John Paul Vega and Bryce Ballinger), King 810 bring their show to its crescendo by throwing it all the way back to 2016 with Alpha & Omega, which sounds spectacular in the smaller venue. Tonight has been a real treat for the fans, and despite the soaring temperatures, King 810 keep the energy levels high and the venue rocking from start to finish before heading back out for the rest of their European summer shows.

A Trio Of Bands Added To Damnation Festival Line Up

Danish industrial doom rave project JOHN CXNNOR, Belgian progressive post metallers HIPPOTRAKTOR and UK sludge bruisers SWAMP COFFIN are the latest names added to this year’s stacked Damnation.

They’ll join the likes of Cult of Luna, Satyricon, Igorrr, Carcass, Health, Crowbar, Triptykon and Wolves In The Throne Room, at BEC Arena, Manchester on Saturday and Sunday, November 7 and 8.

Organiser Gavin McInally said: “We’re delighted to welcome another three belters; John Cxnnor, Hippotraktor and Swamp Coffin to the party, each making their debut with their own distinct live set.

“John Cxnnor will throw a nightmare theme metal rave on Saturday night, Swamp Coffin promise to recreate the world’s slowest wall of death and for those who survive day one, they’ll have the brilliance of Hippotraktor’s riffs to wake up to on Sunday as they open the main stage.”
