Los Angeles based duo Patriarchy has announced the upcoming release of their brand new extended play project titled Appendices. The new collection is officially scheduled to arrive this Friday on August 7. To celebrate the announcement, the band has highlighted the electro industrial metal epic “Servile” as the primary focus track, which notably features guest backing screams from the all female Norwegian black metal band Witch Club Satan following their recent summer tour together.

Thematically, “Servile” dives into the gray zones of Stockholm syndrome and the terrifying intimacy of total surrender. Vocalist Actually Huizenga explains that the track speaks from inside a body being reshaped by control, trading fear for submission to become a weapon for a higher power. Musically, the release continues to define the self described snuff pop sound of the group in unexpected ways. The Appendices EP moves fluidly through elements of dance punk, heavy metal, and fractured pop, proving the collection is much more than a simple compilation of B sides.

The new focus track directly follows the arrival of the recent summer singles “Bite Marks” and “Lilylicker,” which were both born out of genuine fear during a wildfire blackout and carry the dark DNA of their influences. The Appendices EP was written and produced by Patriarchy with additional production and mixing handled by Ben Chisholm, Enyang Urbiks, and Matia Simovich. The highly anticipated release will be available to stream across all major digital platforms this Friday.

Progressive blackened death metal project The Implicate Order has announced the upcoming streaming release of their epic new single “In Dreams” on August 7, following the earlier arrival of its accompanying cinematic music video. The track features a prominent guest vocal performance by Liv Kristine and serves as a major preview for the band’s forthcoming debut full length album Blacklight. The new record was mixed and mastered by renowned producer Dan Swanö, notably marking the first musical collaboration between him and Kristine since the 1995 self titled debut from Theatre of Tragedy.

Formed by former Divine Heresy frontman Travis Neal and guitarist and composer Andy Rose, the project delivers a massive and deeply layered sound. “In Dreams” showcases an intricate beauty and the beast vocal dynamic, contrasting the harsh and melodic deliveries of Neal with the soaring voice of Kristine. Musically, the track weaves complex violin and guitar melodies together before culminating in a dueling solo, all driven forward by progressive drum arrangements inspired by extreme metal pioneers like Death and Cynic.

Thematically, the new single offers an introspective look at the answers and reflections provided by the subconscious dream state. Sharon Osbourne has confirmed that a film of Black Sabbath’s Back To The Beginning show will be released in 2026, featuring every band who played — including Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne himself. Speaking to Metal Hammer, she also revealed that the 2027 Ozzfest revival will be held at Villa Park in Birmingham, the same stadium that hosted Back To The Beginning on July 5, 2025.

No date or headliners have been announced. Sharon says whether the festival runs across two nights is a decision she wants fans to make. She also confirmed the long-delayed Ozzy biopic is now with a second writer and ready to go out to directors.

A year and change since we lost him, and Sharon Osbourne is not slowing down.

In a new interview with Metal Hammer, Ozzy’s wife and manager laid out what the next twelve months look like for his legacy — and there’s a lot in it. Her line on the whole thing: Ozzy’s legacy isn’t fading, and she says the family has been floored by the love shown for him since July 2025.

Here’s everything she confirmed.

The Back To The Beginning Film Is Real, And It’s Out This Year

This is the one people have been waiting on.

A film of Back To The Beginning — the July 5, 2025 farewell at Villa Park that turned out to be Ozzy’s last ever performance and the original Black Sabbath lineup’s final show together — has been rumoured since roughly the moment the stage came down. Sharon has now confirmed it’s happening and that it lands in 2026.

More importantly, she confirmed the scope: every band who played will be in it. Metallica. Guns N’ Roses. Black Sabbath. Ozzy.

Her reasoning for the full-scope approach is the best thing in the interview. She points out that the most precious thing anyone can give you is their time, and that every one of those artists carved a piece out of their summer to be there. So everybody deserves to be seen and heard.

That matters, because the easy version of this film is a 90-minute Ozzy highlight reel with the supporting cast cut to montage. She’s not doing that. Whatever that day was, it’s going in whole.

That was a once-in-history bill and roughly nobody reading this got to be in the room. Getting it properly filmed and released is the single best thing that could come out of the last year.

Ozzfest 2027 Is Going To Villa Park

Now the part that changes things.

We’ve been tracking the Ozzfest revival since Sharon first confirmed she was negotiating with Live Nation back in January, and then when she confirmed the 2027 return outright at MIDEM in March. What’s been missing that whole time is a venue.

Now we have one: Villa Park. Same ground as Back To The Beginning.

And whether it’s one night or two is apparently up for negotiation — Sharon says that’s for the fans to tell her. No date yet, no headliners. She confirmed conversations are happening and said an announcement is coming soon.

Here’s what nobody seems to be saying about this.

Ozzfest was an American travelling festival. That was the entire premise. Sharon and Ozzy built it in 1996 after Lollapalooza turned him down, and for 22 years it moved — city to city across the US, with occasional runs through Europe and Japan. The road was the format.

Anchoring it to a stadium in Birmingham is not a minor logistical detail. It flips the whole thing. Speaking to her son Jack on The Osbournes Podcast in March, Sharon talked about bringing Ozzfest to the US for a couple of dates and asked fans where in America it should go. Read those two things together and the shape becomes clear: Birmingham is the home, America is the away fixture.

For a festival founded by a Birmingham kid who never once pretended to be from anywhere else, that’s not a compromise. It’s the correct ending to the story.

She’s also been consistent about the mission. Ozzfest existed to break new bands, and Sharon has said repeatedly they need to find young, unknown talent because that’s what Ozzy would have wanted. If 2027 turns into a legacy-act nostalgia bill, it will have missed the point — and to her credit, she keeps saying so herself.

The Biopic Finally Has A Script Somebody Believes In

The Ozzy biopic has been stuck in development for years, and Sharon explained why with more candour than these updates usually get.

They went through a first writer who produced three separate drafts. All three got rejected, for one reason: the family didn’t feel it sounded like Ozzy. They’re now on a second writer, and Sharon says this one has caught his voice. The script is ready to go out to directors.

She also had a decent bit of self-deprecation about it. She used to watch people at the Oscars talking about the twenty years it took to get their film made and assume it was nonsense. Now she knows it isn’t. Making a record, she says, is nothing like this — working with writers and directors is a lifetime commitment.

No director, no cast, no date. But “ready to send to directors” is meaningfully further along than this project has been in a decade.

The AI Avatar, And The Argument Around It

The most divisive item on the list is the digital Ozzy.

The Osbournes have partnered with tech firms Hyperreal and Proto Hologram to build an interactive AI avatar — we covered the Hyperreal deal back in May. Speaking at Licensing Expo 2026 in Las Vegas, Sharon described it as something fans can ask anything, that answers in Ozzy’s own voice with what Ozzy would have said. It’ll reportedly appear via interactive touchscreens, though locations are still unannounced.

The reaction from fans has been rough, and a lot of it has landed on the phrase “cash grab.”

Sharon’s response to Metal Hammer was blunt. She rejects the money angle outright, pointing out she isn’t licensing Ozzy to sell weedkiller or beer. She says Ozzy loved the idea and that the family had been discussing it for a decade before he died. Her core argument: he built a body of work over a lifetime, so why shouldn’t he still be seen, and why should fans be stuck rewatching the same old videos when the technology exists to do more? And if you don’t like it, her advice is simple — don’t go.

The counter-argument is one plenty of our readers hold, and it’s not unreasonable either: an AI trained to guess what a dead man would have said isn’t the man, and there’s something uncomfortable about a machine putting words in the mouth of someone who can’t object. Both things can be true at once — the family can have his blessing and the result can still feel wrong to people who loved him.

We’re not going to tell you which side to land on. But it’s coming either way.
