Sure, there are a lot of bands that sound like Funebrarum. After all, the cavernous style mastered by these New Jersey practitioners is one of the essential pillars of death metal. There’s a good reason so many people hear Onward to Golgotha and Dawn of Possession and decide to pick up guitars and make lots of noise. But there’s a lot more going on with Funebrarum that sets them apart from many of their contemporaries. And those qualities are on full, devastating display on Beckoning the Void of Eternal Silence.
And that’s why Decibel is proud to provide the album streaming in full. Pay particular attention to the excellent songwriting on “Anhela Odor Mortuorum (The Adepts),” “From Rotting Burial Shrouds,” and the glorious title track. The band’s sound has an inexplicable element of menace that emerges from their particular blend of the aforementioned classics, Grave, the second Carcass album, some Finnish-style groove, and the slightest hints of funeral doom. We’re still in the first half of the year, but make sure to mark this on your list for when 2026 slithers into the grave.
Beckoning the Void of Eternal Silence comes out tomorrow via Pulverised Records. Listen to the whole thing here:

“I close my eyes only for a moment, then that moment’s gone. All my dreams pass before my eyes with curiosity. Dust in the wind. All they are is dust in the wind.” Kerry Livgren of the band Kansas wrote those profound words in 1977, and they have not blown away like dust in the…

Last fall, alt-pop singer d4vd made lots of headlines when a dead body later identified as 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez was found in his Tesla. It wasn’t until last month that he was arrested and charged with murder, but at the time the story took the internet by storm as users were connecting the dots between 20-year-old David Anthony Burke and Hernandez. Now, NBC reports that a Google software engineer has been charged with insider trading after using confidential company information to make over $1.2 million on Polymarket, wagering that d4vd would be Google’s most-searched person of 2025.
