The Banana Man thing really broke containment, and it seems like it had a heavy effect on the lives of all the people involved. Earlier this month, the Baltimore hardcore band End It played in Toronto on the final night of their tour with Terror, Pain Of Truth, and Start Today. There was a guy at that show in a banana costume, and that kind of look-at-me whimsy really doesn’t go over well in certain corners of the hardcore community. End It were not amused.

Inferior put out a savage tape last year entitled “Wrath” which instantly reminded me of Aussie metal forces like Destroyer 666, Bestial Warlust, Gospel of the Horns and Vomitor. So what do these Americans have to say for themselves?
1.Alright guys, introduce yourselves for us!
J. Goat – Drums/vocals
M.K. War – Lead Guitar
A.X. Bastard- Rhythm Guitar
Anathem- Vocals
2. I find your style pretty close to that of Australian bands such as Destroyer 666, Bestial Warlust, Gospel of the Horns and so on. Do you feel a particular kinship with the lads from down under? Is this an accurate stab at your influences? What bands forge the Inferior sound?
M.K: The sound came out naturally for us, there was no plans to take any specific influence per se, but yes we are all big fans of those bands. Just something about the riffs, and the attitude from down under just resonated with us more than the Norwegians or Greeks (nothing wrong with those). One very important influence for us is definetely the first few Slayer albums for sure (as it should be for every band). The power of those first few releases is something we are chasing and will continue to do so.
J. Goat: Firstly I think Countries with extreme metal scenes in particular inspired myself to learn to play drums and write riffs and finally do vocals. The Australian and Canadian Black Metal scene were our primary influences, then the Brazilian scene and finally American osdm (no slam bs). Bands in particular that inspired us are Sadistic Intent, Antichrist (Canada), Abominator, Marduk, D666, Deicide, Bestial fukking Warlust and of course the mighty SLAYER (only Lombardo is real).
3. In 2023 you released a rehearsal demo tape featuring 3 songs. Can you tell us about the creation of this first step and how was the response?
M.K: It was a pretty quick process. Me and Goat started working together and within a few weeks we had three songs ready to go.
J. Goat: I met Mike Early 2023 or so, I believe he was wearing an Antaeus shirt and I was wearing a Destroyer 666 shirt or something of that nature and we both knew we weren’t listening to any of that pussy bs that other people in Washington listen to haha. We talked and started rehearsing and quickly wrote about three songs or so and hammered them onto cassette with the help of our noise artist friend and the demo was born.
4. Fast-forward to 2025 and “Wrath” was unleashed by Headsplit Records. How did you record this album, what went into it creatively and also from a production point of view?
M.K: We went into the studio In February of 2025 after taking a whole year to forge 8 songs we felt best represented us. Finding the right guy to record us was a bit tricky as no one here really specialized in the type of metal we play, eventually we found Don who really stepped up and made us something close to what we were chasing.
J. Goat: After the reception that rasing the banner demo got, me and Mike realized we needed to expand the idea into something more hateful and bigger that we could unleash live. We pretty quickly found A.X. Bastard, and started writing material with the goal of Recording a full length. We recorded the album somewhat professionally with the help of a local engineer Don, we raised enough money for about 4 days to record and mix. I wish we had more time to hammer in the ideas that I envisioned for the final product but a blizzard and the reality of 4 days to move gear, record and mix and move everything out only leaves you with so much time to do things to their furthest extent. The next Album will be heavier and more vicious.
5. Headsplit is a killer label, how has working with Dylan been for you guys? Do you plan to stay with him?
J. Goat: Dylan is a sick fuck who COMPLETELY gets the idea, he has put out a lot of sick shit. We look forward to working with him again.
6. I thought it was interesting that the album was only released on tape (at the time of writing). Do you plan a CD or LP release? Is there a reason tape was prioritised?
M.K: We just prefer tapes, nothing more to it.
J.Goat: The album is out on L.P. on Devil’s Game Records. https://devilsgamerecords.bigcartel.com/ Daily life has made it difficult to give the album a proper release (besides the cassette version). I hate promoting but we are planning to play more live shows in the near future. Being alive is expensive.
7. As an American band do you feel you fit into the underground there? There’s a ton of cool bands on your continent but Inferior feels quite different to a lot of them. Is this a positive or negative for you guys? Further to this, can you maybe recommend some cool bands we might not know from over there?
M.K: I dunno if we fit in the scene honestly but then again collectively as individuals we never fit in so it makes sense our music doesn’t either. I guess you could call it a positive, it makes us stand out more but then again I guess some ppl just prefer riff less jargon. Some bands I really like from the us currently are abhorrency, lucemortis, lecherous, occult blood, wokescum pulverizer, true iron will.
J.Goat: I don’t think we fit in at all, but maybe that’s a good thing. Bands I would recommend are bands I’ve had the pleasure of knowing personally. Baphomancia, Cerebral Rot (RIP) Abhorrency, Lecherous etc. I respect anybody who can do this kinda shit live and still keep that evil feeling, its an easy thing to lose.
8. I will keep this short, but thank you for the brief chat. Last words are yours maniacs!
M.K Warr: If you are a false don’t entry
J. Goat: We are currently working on new Inferior material and live shows… Hail to Destruction.

Mighty Music is proud to announce the release of Electrifyed, the brand-new studio album from NWOBHM pioneers Tygers Of Pan Tang. The album finds the legendary British metal act returning to a heavier and more aggressive sound while retaining the melodic identity that has defined the band throughout its celebrated career.
“The heavier, the better, that was our mantra throughout the writing and recording of Electrifyed”, singer Jack Meille comments about the writing process of the record. “We wanted to rediscover the pleasure of being driven by the powerful force of a heavy riff without losing that melodic touch all great Tygers songs have”.
Written with a clear artistic vision from the outset, Electrifyed draws inspiration from the raw energy of the band’s early years, particularly their landmark debut album Wild Cat, while showcasing the chemistry and creativity of the current line-up. The result is a collection of songs built around powerful riffs, memorable melodies, and a renewed commitment to the heavy metal traditions the band helped establish.
The album also introduces guitarist John Footitt on record for the first time. Joining founding member Robb Weir, Jack Meille, drummer Craig Ellis, and bassist Huw Holding, Footitts guitar skills fit the album’s muscular and contemporary sound.
To achieve the sonic impact envisioned by the band, Tygers of Pan Tang worked closely with producer and musician Marco Angioni, a longtime friend and collaborator who helped translate the group’s ambitions into a cohesive and powerful final product. The album artwork was once again entrusted to Andy Pilkington of Very Metal Art, whose striking cover concept perfectly captures the spirit and energy of Electrifyed.
Electrifyed will be released on LP (black vinyl, blue vinyl with white splatter, and orange vinyl with blue splatter, each limited to 500 copies), digipack CD, and digital formats on 11.09.2026, via Mighty Music. Pre-orders are available now here.
The first two singles off the album, the title track and “Forevermore”, are out now on all streaming services.
More than four decades after helping launch the New Wave of British Heavy Metal, Tygers of Pan Tang continue to demonstrate why they remain one of the movement’s most enduring and respected names. Electrifyed stands as both a tribute to the genre’s roots and a statement of intent for the present day.
“It’s time to honour the musical movement that we helped to start – the ’New Wave of British Heavy Metal’. This is a brand new Heavy Metal album from us, steeped in the late 70’s, flavoured from the 80’s and ready for consumption right now!” says founder and guitarist Robb Weir.
Robb Weir: Guitar
Craig Ellis: Drums
Jack Meille: Vocals
Huw Holding: Bass
John Foottit: Guitar
