Triumph drummer/vocalist Gil Moore has confirmed that a second documentary about the band is in the works, this one centered on the Canadian hard rock trio’s recently completed 2026 comeback tour — their first in more than 30 years. Moore addressed the project in a recent interview with The Joel Martin Mastery Podcast.
Moore said (transcribed by Blabbermouth): “I’m not sure when it’ll come out, but it’s gonna be a documentary about the tour, about how the transformation happened, getting back together with Phil [X] and Todd [Kerns] and Brent [Fitz] and what it was like for Rik [Emmett] and I and Mike [Levine], and it’s gonna document it all, and I think it’s gonna be really exciting. It’s gonna be totally different than the first documentary, but I think it will provide an insight to fans about the behind-the-scenes, I’ll call it, of how this came together and why we do what we do.”
In a separate interview with WNST, Moore traced how the 2026 reunion came about. He explained that after Triumph originally split up, personal circumstances — caring for his mother after his father’s passing and being present for his children as they grew up — had kept him off the road. “I guess enough time’s gone by,” he said. “My kids are adults. My wife’s completely supportive of all this stuff.” Moore said the reunion began as “kind of a lark” with a June 2025 outdoor hockey concert in Edmonton, Alberta, and that even after that show, he wasn’t sure a full tour was coming. The chemistry in the dressing room, however, changed his mind: “The vibe in the dressing room — if you could be there — and it’ll all come out because we’re doing a second documentary, and you’ll see it. You can’t make this stuff up. This is the high-five dressing room.”
Emmett and Moore also appeared on SiriusXM’s Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk ahead of the tour’s conclusion. Emmett said, “It’s going great. It’s been a tremendous surprise to Gil and I that it’s gone as well as it has, because we were both a little skeptical coming in. We’re a couple of old farts, so we weren’t sure that the young guys were gonna be able to carry us, but it’s worked. It’s worked a charm.” Moore added, “Playing every night has been fantastic. The audiences have been outrageously good. Yeah, it couldn’t have worked out better if we scripted it.”
Emmett described the dynamic with the expanded lineup — which features original members Moore and Emmett alongside guitarist Phil X (a former Triumph member and current Bon Jovi guitarist), bassist Todd Kerns and drummer/keyboardist Brent Fitz (both of Slash Featuring Myles Kennedy & the Conspirators) — in glowing terms: “This reinvention, this reloading of Triumph is a thing where we picked up these guys that can sing harmonies, but they can be rock stars and they can play guitar solos that are light years beyond me. And I go, ‘Well, that’s okay. That’s great.’ There’s a respect that exists between us that has made the band a stronger entity than it ever was.” He added, “You just feel younger and stronger and braver. The band makes me feel like Winnie-the-Pooh: I’m braver than I thought, and I’m stronger than I thought, and I’m smarter than I thought. That’s the bottom line.”
The 2026 tour opened April 10 in Orlando, Florida, and included dates across Canada and the United States with April Wine as support, concluding June 10 in Laval, Quebec, Canada. The first Triumph documentary, Triumph: Rock & Roll Machine — directed by Sam Dunn and Marc Ricciardelli for Banger Films and produced with a planned 2020 premiere before the COVID-19 pandemic intervened — debuted at the 2021 Toronto International Film Festival and was widely released in 2022.
Triumph was formed in Mississauga, Ontario in 1975 and sold more than 15 million albums while earning a reputation for elaborate live productions featuring pyrotechnics and laser lighting, including a performance before 500,000 fans at the 1983 US Festival. Hits include “Lay It on the Line,” “Magic Power” and “Fight the Good Fight.” In 2025, the band was honored with the tribute album Magic Power: All-Star Tribute to Triumph (Round Hill Records), featuring contributions from Phil X, Slash, Alex Lifeson, Sebastian Bach, Dee Snider, Joey Belladonna, Nancy Wilson and others. The band was also inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame in October 2025, adding to previous honors including the Canadian Music Industry Hall of Fame (2007), the Canadian Music Hall of Fame (2008), and Canada’s Walk of Fame (2019).
