  • GENERATION RADIO – Take Two (Album Review)

    GENERATION RADIO, the semi-country/rock supergroup formed by Jay DeMarcus (Vocals, keyboards, and bass, from Rascal Flatts) and one of the great AOR voices of all time Jason Scheff (Lead vocals and bass, formerly of Chicago) follow up their acclaimed 2022 debut that also featured Journey’s Deen Castronovo with album number two, cleverly titled ‘Take Two’.   Unfortunately for these guys, Deen returned to Journey full-time, leaving them one vocalist short, but the drums have been capably filled by the amazing Steve Ferrone (Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers).   The first part of the album follows the path of the debut, a sparkling mix of high-tech AOR and country tinged numbers. It is noticed that the pace has dropped somewhat – this is a slower and more ballad heavy record. There are only 2 cracking AOR tunes in the first 7.   Sadly things don’t get any better with the second half. A pointless trio of cover tunes (Whitesnake’s Here I Go Again, Chicago’s You’re The Inspiration and Kenny Loggins’  I’m Alright) waste the listeners time and would better be left for a live album perhaps.   That leaves the last two songs – both mid-tempo ballads again, one country, one AORish.   A major step back in quality from the excellent and still very enjoyable debut.

Sharon Osbourne has confirmed that the iconic festival is set for a return in 2027, reigniting one of the most influential heavy metal and hard rock events in history. Speaking at MIDEM 2026 in Cannes, France, she shared updates on the festival’s legacy and plans for the future.
    Ozzfest’s Comeback After a Hiatus

    Reflecting on the last edition of Ozzfest in 2018, Sharon Osbourne explained:


    “Well, the last one we did was 2018. It was just a month before Ozzy got sick… There was no plans to stop it. We were still gonna do it, but Ozzy couldn’t.”


    She confirmed, “Yes, absolutely. Yeah, we’re gonna do it,” signaling a full revival of the festival that defined a generation of metal fans.
    Honoring Ozzy Osbourne’s Legacy

    Sharon also shared insights from conversations with her late husband, Ozzy Osbourne, about the festival’s future. Ozzy reportedly asked if Ozzfest could succeed without him, to which Sharon replied:


    “Yeah, it’s a brand. It will work without you. We should do it.”


    With Ozzy’s passing on July 22, 2025, Sharon is determined to continue the festival in a way that honors his legacy while giving a stage to emerging talent.
    A Refreshed Vision for Ozzfest 2027

    Sharon has previously hinted at a modernized approach for Ozzfest, including potential genre crossovers while maintaining the festival’s core mission: spotlighting new artists. She told Billboard:


    “It was something Ozzy was very passionate about: giving young talent a stage in front of a lot of people. We really started metal festivals in this country… ours was a place for new talent. It was like summer camp for kids.”


    Originally launched in 1996 in Phoenix, Arizona and Devore, California, Ozzfest grew into a touring festival that shaped the heavy metal and hard rock landscape in the U.S., Europe, and Japan. It became a platform for both legendary bands and up-and-coming acts, influencing a generation of musicians and fans.
    Beyond Ozzfest: Orchestral Black Sabbath Project

    In addition to the festival revival, Sharon Osbourne revealed she is working with Live Nation on a classical Black Sabbath tour, featuring orchestral performances of the band’s catalog paired with innovative visuals. This news comes after the band had to cancel its previously planned reunion shows earlier this year due to Snider’s unexpected health-related resignation.

    According to the official announcement, Bach’s involvement will not interfere with his ongoing solo career. Fans have already caught a glimpse of what’s to come, thanks to a short rehearsal clip of Bach performing with Twisted Sister that has surfaced online.
