Black Veil Brides will be heading back to the UK & Europe for a huge headline tour in 2027.

After tearing up Download Festival’s biggest stage over the weekend, Black Veil Brides will be back for some headline dates very soon, hitting up venues across the UK & Europe in early 2027.

The UK leg of the ‘Vindicatour’ will kick off at Glasgow’s Barrowland on January 08, before stopping off in Newcastle, Leeds, Bristol, Birmingham and Manchester, and rounding out with a huge show at London’s O2 Academy Brixton on January 16.

Tickets for all UK shows will be on sale from 10am BST this Friday (June 19), and you can grab tickets for the European dates from 11am CEST on Sunday (June 21).

Did you know that Chile is pretty darn good at death metal? If not, you must be new around these parts, in which case, I say, welcome friend! We’re glad to have you here and so is South America because they have such sights to show you. You can certainly start with the lovely primer that Ryan put together a few years back, but searching “Chile” or “Chilean” on our little site here will surely bring you many more fantastic metal recommendations (outside of death metal as well).

Adversus Parousia‘s 40 minutes are chock full of marching riffs, trudging passages, clambering rhythms, chase-sequence giddy-up, Ip Man flurries of assault, molasses dripping collapses, and all the dynamic other dynamic parts you want in a modern take on moldy oldy death metal without any of the extra trappings like interludes or extra instruments being thrown in to try and generate atmosphere. Godless remains heavy and dark with no extra seasoning necessary.

The two songs that exemplify the album best are “Plaga Vobiscum (Et Cum Spiritu Tuo)” and “Ekstasis – Cosmogravis.” The former carries over an absolutely electrified passage from the song prior and hits in the taint with about 1,000 more volts for good measure. At the first moment when you think the relentless assault is going to break, it actually hits the listener with another army’s worth of electric volleys as if that army’s bows were armed with cattle prods rather than arrows. While the song does eventually shift up the pace, its heightened aggression for much of its runtime helps it stand out. On the opposite end of the spectrum, B-side opener “Ekstasis – Cosmogravis” sees Godless absolutely nail more dynamic pacing. It bleeds in with a slow-building pummel, coming across more like an album opener, which works on a record but is a little odd immediately following “Pneuma Khaos,” which starts in a similar doomy fashion. While the latter track switches up quickly and hits a bevy of different passages, the former lets the song simmer in its slowness and builds up much better toward an explosive release. The high-hat work early on gives the slow parts juice, the sheet-metal wobble of the bass anchors wily passages and the guitars balance crawls with brawls.

The comparison that kept coming to mind while spinning this record was Temple of Void’s early work, even more so when comparing the vocalists. There’s a simplicity involved with a focus on balancing pure death metal onslaught against doom-laden slowness with a focus on leveraging many styles and passages to get there. Where Godless falls a bit short is in using those tools to help each song stand out. Currently, each one may have its own arc, but the story beats are all very similar across every song, except for the two tracks discussed above. Six of eight tracks hit around five minutes or longer, which can make the album feel like it’s dragging a bit when parts between songs feel like they could often be interchangeable.

What’s put to tape here is overall very enjoyable, and Godless has absolutely gathered all the right ingredients; they just haven’t mastered enough recipes to make a full book yet. That said, if you’re looking to get whalloped over the skull with some well-produced, deathly goodness, you could do a lot worse than Adversus Parousia.

Live Review: Senser – Academy 3, Manchester

A mere eight months after seeing the same two bands put on a storming gig at The Castle & Falcon in Birmingham, I was back to watch their first gig in Manchester for many years. Yes, it might seem odd going again, watching near identical set lists, but it’s a step back in time and another chance to witness two bands who were a big part of my late teens/early 20’s, plus, they are both bloody great live!!!

Arriving promptly on stage at 8pm, DJ Anthony Chapman gets the night going dropping a few beats before the bass line emerges and Collapsed Lung start with “Punchline”. “I’ve just got back from a holiday in the Algarve” says the sun-tanned frontman Jim Burke, “but I wasn’t golfing” as they start “Golf People” and the party feel washes across the crowd. The scratching from Chapman is so good here before they “go old school” and the marvellous “Maclife” rings out. Their combo of dual vocals is fun to watch, and the rhythm section are on fire tonight, as they genuinely seem to be enjoying themselves.

After hunting out all the people in check shirts in the crowd, they play “Down with the Plaid Fad” as the prominent bass sound roars out. “We haven’t played this one in a while and only decided to play this afternoon” says Burke much to the amusement on bassist Steve Harcourt’s face, as they go into “DIS Mix” which was excellent, and we even got a new scratch that Chapman found midway through, as he informed us afterwards.

It’s not often you get a hip hop band rapping about mid century public architecture, but Collapsed Lung aren’t an ordinary hip hop band so “Red Brick Municipal Buildings” is played and flows effortlessly, with a great guitar solo to boot. They tease us with “time to play our 1996 hit single now” ahead of “London Tonight” and the brilliant “Let’s Get Jobs”, with the crowd singing along. “This is about grassroots football, so let’s forget about FIFA and the World Cup” as they begin “Eat My Goal” and the crowd lap it up. “Thank you for coming out, this last song sums up what this means to us right now” as they finish with the brilliant “New Song, Old Band”.

The room fills up further as the musical side of the Senser walk onto stage, with drummer John Morgan and DJ Alan “Deckwrecka” Gold starting off proceedings before vocalists Kerstin Haugh and Heitham Al-Sayed appear to huge applause and kick off with “Devoid”. Their dual vocals work together seamlessly and when the raucous “Resistance Now” kicks in the crowd respond with heads and bodies moving all over the venue. The trippy start to “States of Mind” sees Haugh hit those high notes as the place erupts to the venomous lyrics and timeless riff from guitarist Nick Michealson. It really is 1994 all over again!!

“It’s been a while Manchester” says a beaming Heitham before “So Refined” and we are encouraged to “make some noise for our DJ” as Deckwrecka drops some hip-hop sounds for us to enjoy ahead of “Switch”, which still sounds as awesome as ever. Sprinkled amongst the classic tracks from “Stacked Up”, they play new songs from last years “Sonic Dissidence” with “Full Body Rebellion” and the utterly mental “Harbinger” which sees the rhythm section working overtime as the crowd ramp up their energy.

Haugh takes centre stage and full control during “Adrenalin” one of two songs they played which I’d never heard live before, the other being “Formula Milk”, and these bookended the sublime craziness of “No Comply” with Heitham calling out Restore & Reform as “fascism has now become mainstream, fuck all that”. It’s a song that is so powerful, with a message that will resonate with everyone in the room, however young or old and a reminder that Senser are amongst the best in the business at what they do.

The dancier element of their music shines through on “Optimus” and Heitham thanks us for being here before introducing “Ryot Pump” a song about the police state we currently live in, and it goes off, as the riff and scratches hit hard. With moody red lights filling the stage, the rhythmic “2,3 Clear” bursts out, and as the crowd chant the bands name, they begin a triumvirate of songs which are simply breathtaking, kicking off with “Age of Panic”.

It goes off across the venue, bodies flailing to the huge riffs and mighty drums, punctured by the slow mid part, as they raise the temperature further. It’s mental, and they continue with Public Enemy’s “Channel Zero” a staple of their set, with Deckwrecka on fine form as Heitham adds a bit of Black Sabbath into the lyrical mix. It’s all set up for the now familiar finale, the mammoth chaos that is “Eject” a song that hits as hard now as it did when it was released. The pit is now chaotic with the whole room moving and singing along to a song which has stood the test of time, and the band go from strength to strength.

Bleeker have given us another taste of upcoming album ‘ELEPHANT’, and their latest single is a huge one.

Titled ‘Something On You’, the track is taken from the band’s latest full-length, which is set to arrive on September 04 via Known Accomplice.

A joyfully anthemic cut that’s bound to get stuck in your head for days, it’s the perfect antidote to all the chaos in the world right now.

Speaking on their latest track, frontman Taylor Perkins has shared:

“Something On You is 3 of 5 members of Bleeker’s favorite song on the album! We pulled this song together almost like a Frankenstein but in the end we just loved it. We tend to write a lot about resilience and that’s present this one for sure. I think that comes from a few different parts of who we are, how we were raised, our go to work ethic and partly the various ups and downs we’ve faced as a band.”

On the release of upcoming album ‘ELEPHANT’, Taylor has said:

“We’ve made a few records now, but ELEPHANT feels very special to us. We were largely left alone to make this one with very little distractions. We were also on a prolific writing streak (still are) and going into this one had over 25 song demos or ruff recordings to polish and workshop. If Elephant didn’t sonically set the tone it certainly set the bar, we’ll always try to write albums that have depth and represent who we are as a band, so it feels like to us, we’ve created an album that is just that. This album is like an elephant, It’s an album about that really balances power with sensitivity, and strength with softness.”
