  • Full EP Stream: Dissentience – “Kaiju”

Pennsylvania death-thrashers Dissentience are going big on their new EP, Kaiju, not unlike the monsters that inspired it. Their fourth release, Kaiju shows the band take a more progressive and conceptual approach to things than on previous releases, like their 2022 album, Empire Anatomy.

“The best kaiju movies aren’t just special effects showcases, they also explore the impact of the destruction on humanity,” Dissentience tell Decibel. “Incorporating equal parts bombast and psychological horror into the lyrics was a conscious decision to try to avoid some of the campiness that comes with the territory of giant monster movies. Everyone has monsters running through their lives, metaphorical or otherwise, so we thought it best not to give the listener too much in terms of visual description, providing the narrative for people’s imaginations and interpretations to run wild. This EP is a Godzilla-sized step forward for the band on all fronts into what we feel is the purest expression of our vision for the band to date.”

In addition to the lyrical considerations made by the band, Dissentience express the chaos/calm dynamic by incorporating acoustic intros and clean interludes that simulate the pace and tone of a movie like Godzilla or Pulgasari. It’s a big step forward for the band, who began to truly find their footing on their last release four years ago.

Kaiju is out on February 20 and can be purchased on Bandcamp.

A similar trouble transpired last night at RAYE’s concert at Paris’ Accor Arena on Sunday (Feb. 15), and she made a statement about it today.

  • Greg Puciato and Steven Ryan Alexander’s The Black Queen Announce 10th Anniversary Tour

    theblackqueen_26

It’s been seven years since Greg Puciato’s project The Black Queen’s done anything of significance. Along with Steven Ryan Alexander, the duo had created something special back then, especially with the release of their album Fever Daydream a decade ago. To celebrate the occasion of hitting their debut album’s first decade, they’ve decided to go on a North American run of shows.

Set to kick off on May 8 in Portland, Oregon, the tour will run until June 6 when they play Dallas, Texas. Fans planning on attending should expect to hear music from the debut album, as well as their second offering Infinite Games.

Given the fact that there’s been so much time since their last time in North America, Puciato explained why now was time to get back on the road.

“As anyone into The Black Queen knows, we’ve been dormant for a minute. A lot of things ended up on the front burner and suddenly seven years had gone by, and 10 years since Fever Daydream’s release. Fever Daydream was really special and we know it meant a lot to fans as well. So we figured let’s get some grease on us and get some of that mojo back before releasing our third album. Maybe we’ll toss some new songs in as well. See you soon.”

At each stop of the tour, the band will have special 10th anniversary variants of their debut album available exclusively on the tour.

Tickets will go on sale this Friday at 10 a.m. local time, with an artist presale starting this Thursday at 10 a.m. local time exclusively for folks signed up to The Black Queen’s mailing list. You can find the full list of tour dates below.

  • TWILIGHT FORCE Joins NAPALM RECORDS Roster And Unveils New Single “Magic Of A New Dawn”

Twilight Force have officially entered a new era, signing a worldwide record deal with Austrian metal label Napalm Records. The agreement locks in a major next step for the Swedish symphonic power metal band as they move forward with new material and bigger plans.

The partnership is being framed as a natural match built on shared respect, and it comes with fresh music right away. To mark the occasion, Twilight Force have released a new single, “Magic Of A New Dawn”, giving fans the first taste of what’s ahead.

“Magic Of A New Dawn” leans fully into the band’s trademark cinematic power metal sound, aiming for sweeping melodies, fantasy-driven themes, and a sense of forward momentum.

Twilight Force comments on the signing: “Brave knights, rejoice and revel! A new dawn is upon us! Twilight Force is proud and elated to announce that a new and mighty covenant has been sealed! Together with the indomitable Napalm Records, we shall brave new quests and journey into a bright and exhilarating tomorrow!”

Label representative Sebastian Münch also spoke on the signing, highlighting the band’s global reach and distinct style: “Napalm Records is thrilled to officially welcome Twilight Force to the label roster! Known for their epic symphonic power metal, rich fantasy worlds, and unique adventure metal style, Twilight Force have captured the hearts of metal fans around the globe. We’re excited to work together to bring their heroic sound and legendary stories to an even bigger audience.”

Band member Blackwald offered a deeper look into the meaning behind “Magic Of A New Dawn”: “Life is like a magic tome; filled with mystery, marvels, wisdom, and unforeseen events. Trials and tribulations sometimes appear when least expected, but whenever gloom and hardships arise in your path; remember that there is always hope and magic. Follow your destiny with persistence, steadfastness, and courage. The prophecies shall guide you to glory, and the Power of the Ancient Force will be with you, always!”

Over the years, Twilight Force have built a strong reputation as one of the defining names in modern symphonic power metal, known for combining high-level musicianship with full fantasy immersion.

The group’s origins trace back to 2007, formed with the goal of reviving the classic spirit of epic symphonic power metal while also carving out their own world. Since then, they’ve expanded far beyond that initial vision, growing into something unique within the genre.

Their approach remains rooted in sweeping orchestration, fast-paced performances, and storytelling that pulls listeners into their mythical universe.

With Napalm Records now behind them and “Magic Of A New Dawn” setting the stage, Twilight Force look ready to push their adventure metal vision even further.
