A few weeks ago, I interviewed Show Me The Body backstage at Salt Lake City’s Kilby Block Party. I was nervous about that one. Even though I like that band a lot, I had this idea that they’d be ultra-serious, monkish types and that the conversation would be awkward as hell: Turns out: No! Those guys are very funny and chill, and I would hang out with them whenever. Their festival set destroyed, too. I’m not even sure why I’m telling you this, but it’s the sort of thing I would want to know.

We all miss the glory days of Greek black metal, and members of Rotting Christ, Emperor, Necromantia, and Electric Wizard are bringing it back with a new slower and more resonant form of metal that aims for ritual atmosphere.
Where this shines above the norm these days is that the song holds together not just as a composition, but in how its parts are calibrated to complement each other in rhythm and tone, producing an immersive experience.
Like Varathron more than Necromantia, it aims for a form of heavy metal that absorbs the gothic and noise approaches to music into a slow-stalking descent which keeps a NWOBHM feel in the mindset of a subterranean seance.
