Funeral – “My Own Grave” (Official Music Video) In the shivering, twilight-stained expanses of Norway, where the frost gnaws at ancient stones and shadows linger under perpetual twilight, FUNERAL weaves their sorrowful tapestry with the unveiling of their harrowing new single, My Own Grave. This is the first elegy from their impending album, Gospel of Bones, a cavernous exploration of grief and resilience that promises to echo within the hollow voids of the hearts of doom metal aficionados.
When the weight of the world presses down like the bows of a snow-laden fir, FUNERAL stands resolute, guardians of the melancholic spirit that defines funeral doom metal. From the icy breaths transmuted into somber melodies to the relentless dirge of their funeral drums, every note in My Own Grave is meticulously crafted to pluck at the raw nerves of existential mourning.
Watch the music video, meticulously crafted by Guilherme Henriques, on the Season of Mist YouTube channel now: https://youtu.be/WmFrf9uzH-0
Gospel of Bones, produced by the venerable Børge Finstad, is a journey through the depths of despair. Tracks like Yestertear and Procession of Misery carve out narratives of sorrow deeply intertwined with ethereal harmonies provided by Ingvild “Sareeta” Johannesen. The mournful soundscape is further enriched by the celestial artwork of Tristan Diaz Bastie, drawing listeners into a world where beauty and anguish waltz in a tragic embrace.
The album guides the listener through scenes of mournful splendor, from the prematurely snuffed light in Too Young to Die to the abyssal depths of Når kisten senkes. Each song stands as a monument to the perpetual dance between life and the inevitable shadow of death.
Gospel of Bones is out October 16 on Season of Mist

Check out our interview with GRAMZ about its release NO POP
What inspired you to create “NO POP,” and how does it differ from your previous releases?
“No Pop” is a piece that holds a special place for me, channeling raw emotion through an uncharted soundscape. It was both a catharsis and a bold exploration.
Can you describe the creative process behind “NO POP”?
The creation was purely organic, born from an innate desire to experiment. With CHILZ’s collaboration, we seamlessly merged emotion and innovation, crafting beats and lyrics that resonate on a profound level.
What challenges did you face while producing a pop track when your primary genres are pop and trip hop?
The challenge was undeniable, especially in the melodic passages. Yet, it was within this challenge that I found the ability to convey deeper, more nuanced emotions through the vessel of pop.
How has your Mexican heritage influenced your music, especially in “NO POP”?
My nationality runs deep in “No Pop. The song dances between English and Spanish, but the most gripping part is undeniably in Spanish. Growing up enveloped in the rich sounds of Mexican music, I realized some emotions can only be captured in Spanish.
This linguistic blend isn’t just a choice, it’s a reflection of my roots, a way to inject raw authenticity into the music. How do you balance the elements of pop and trip hop in your music?
In the studio, magic happens. Our combined tastes create a perfect balance, leading to tracks like this.
What message or emotions do you hope listeners take away from “NO POP”?
I hope listeners find a piece of themselves in the music, a mirror to their own emotions.
“No Pop” isn’t just a song it’s a journey through the labyrinth of feelings. I want it to be a guide, helping them navigate the shadows and light within their own experiences. Can you tell us about any collaborations or notable contributions to the production of “NO POP”?
There are numerous artists I hold in high regard, and the prospect of collaboration excites me. Lately, however, Sensenra has particularly captured my artistic curiosity.
How do you see your music evolving in the future after the release of “NO POP”?
“No Pop” heralds a new era for this project—a phase marked by experimentation and a departure from the confines of traditional hip hop. It signifies a bold, new direction for Gramz.
What are your plans for promoting “NO POP,” and can we expect any live performances or tours soon?
I’ve been actively engaging on social media, and I invite you to experience the lyric video on SyncUp Team YouTube channel.

Pigmenti (Celeste, 2024)
Celeste doesn’t need any introduction: Ciro Perrino’s brainchild has its own place in Italian prog scene and since their reunion back in 2019 they never abandoned their melodic, fairy, charming sound. That said, some of the songs in “Echi di un futuro passato” 2024 album (meaning Past Future’s Echoes) open up to some exciting new landscapes. That’s the case with the opening track “Pigmenti” (Pigments),where Maestro Perrino and his friends successfully merge the band’s traditional melodies with jazz-rock passages.
Degrassi and Mazzeo created this stunning cover art.Sure, Perrino isn’t new at such a taste: he was part of one of the most underrated Italian fusion bands, namely Il Sistema, between 1969 and 1971, but he never dared to import those sounds into Celeste’s music. He dares here and that’s a very big and welcome surprise! You’ll find the same theme going through different treatments: the opening jazz arrangement, a melodic rendition and even an orchestral, symphonic version followed by guitar, sax and keyboard solos! Well done… and beautiful. Not to mention the sweet sung section and the perfect performances of each musician. Once more, thank you Celeste for being there! -
