Inside the New Album “Decades”: Guests and Aggressive Energy Revealed

For over two decades, the quintet—consisting of vocalist Chris Motionless, guitarists Ricky Olson and Ryan Sitkowski, drummer Vinny Mauro, and bassist Justin Morrow—have thrived on a unique sonic alchemy blending metal, hardcore, goth, industrial, and electronic music.

Their upcoming album Decades serves as a celebration of this 20-year journey. Recorded across Upstate New York and Los Angeles with co-producers Drew Fulk and Justin “JD” deBlieck, the record is confirmed to include high-profile and highly eclectic guest appearances, including Slipknot’s Corey Taylor, Skylar Grey, and Dark Divine frontman Anthony Martinez.

Frontman Chris Motionless notes that the current state of the world deeply impacted the songwriting process, pushing the band back toward their heaviest roots:

“We were never afraid to take risks. This band has not only lasted two decades, but we’ve also outlasted all of the obstacles we’ve faced… No matter how far we expand the universe that is Motionless In White, we’re going to preserve the heart, soul, and roots of where we came from. We are never going to abandon heartfelt, emotional, and heavy songs… Decades is definitely heavier than some of our past albums. Our current world bred more aggressive energy, anger, and resistance.”

    Ali B Mississippi Malibu Review

The song opens with a beautiful guitar riff and a keyboard that hits a few notes, creating a very interesting atmospheric space. Then, the artist’s voice enters, confident and solid. What stands out is the maturity of her tone, considering that Ali B is only 13 years old. Her level of professionalism is already remarkable. There are influences of Taylor Swift, but Ali B has her own identity. This ballad is a mix of rock and pop, featuring catchy melodies and impeccable production.

     Ali B Mississippi Malibu

The dynamics in the song are perfect; it empties out during the verses and then fills up in the chorus. “Mississippi Malibu” is a country-pop song about being torn between two places you love: the small-town roots of Mississippi and the dreamlike escape of Malibu. This duality is expressed beautifully throughout the track. The narrative resonates deeply, reflecting a sense of longing and connection to two distinct yet equally beloved locations.

The track features Georgette Jones, daughter of country music legends George Jones and Tammy Wynette. This collaboration provides a significant connection to the genre and enhances the song’s authenticity. The chorus is particularly beautiful, offering a slightly dreamy and nostalgic melody that seeps into your soul. It evokes the sensation of flying like a drone above the picturesque beaches of Malibu while also soaring over the lovely canyons of Mississippi.

Mississippi Malibu – Sound and Atmosphere

Lyrically, the song explores the feelings of indecisiveness and nostalgia. Ali B skillfully paints a picture of her emotional conflict. The contrast between the serene landscapes of Malibu and the comforting familiarity of Mississippi adds depth to the lyrics. It’s a universal theme many can relate to, making the song impactful.

The production of “Mississippi Malibu” deserves special mention. Each element, from the guitars to the keyboards, is polished and well-defined. The arrangement highlights Ali B’s vocal abilities without overshadowing her. The thoughtful layering of instruments creates an inviting atmosphere that complements her voice beautifully.

Mississippi Malibu – Performance and Production

“Mississippi Malibu” is a significant entry into Ali B’s discography. It is a solid blend of rock, pop, and country, enhanced by the emotional depth of its lyrics. The presence of Georgette Jones adds a unique touch. Ali B’s voice, combined with her skillful songwriting, suggests a promising future ahead. • Hxoro Hello Review

    Hxoro Hello Review

The first song of Hxoro’s album “Hello,” titled “Be Plan,” impresses with its unique compositional qualities. The track evokes echoes of David Bowie, with an almost dreamlike, visionary style that hooks the listener right away. Following this ethereal introduction, “Sharp” presents a more rhythmic experience. It features tribal-like rhythms and a voice reminiscent of English singers from the 70s. The song gradually develops, with the bass adding an infectious groove while the acoustic percussion drives the momentum. A synth motif recalls the essence of Jimmy Somerville, creating a vibrant interplay of sounds that keeps the listener engaged.

    Hxoro Hello

Following “Sharp,” the artist presents “Lucy,” a track rich in rhythmic variations and intense uniqueness. Hxoro seems to exist in a bubble that blends the future and the past, which is a rare quality in contemporary music. This singular vision manifests beautifully in “In a Jet Plane.” Here, an energetic vibe permeates the air, capturing the essence of rock with Beatles-like undertones. Yet, the arrangements venture into an avant-garde territory that defies simple categorization.

One of the standout tracks, “A Curious Duck,” stimulates the imagination, ushering listeners into dreamlike visions. This piece could very well serve as the soundtrack for a science fiction film. Its references and innovative approach highlight Hxoro’s intent to push creative boundaries further. “The Parade” follows, another visionary experience showcasing Hxoro’s distinctive perspective. This artist inspires through his nontraditional sound, bringing forth a refreshing take on modern music.

The album concludes with “The Ballad of a Monkey,” an intriguing composition that features piano interspersed with vocalizations resembling a monkey’s sounds, brilliantly unique. A spoken voice emerges, delivering oracular lines that hypnotize the audience. This track feels more like a rite—a rich auditory experience filled with atmospheric sounds and suspended dynamics. The culmination of sound in this piece is a fitting finale to an album that is fantastic and visionary.

    Hello – Sound and Atmosphere

Hxoro’s album “Hello” is a rich tapestry of influences, drawing from various genres and eras while forging its unique identity. Each track presents distinct qualities that challenge and reward the listener, creating an auditory journey that defies conventions. The artist’s ability to blend the familiar with the avant-garde is fantastic. The result is an engaging collection that encourages reflection and exploration. This album is undoubtedly recommended for those who appreciate music that ventures into the extraordinary and the uncharted realms of sound.

This album exemplifies the notion of innovation in music, urging listeners to reflect on the nature of sound and its relationship with imagination. Hxoro invites everyone to experience his artistic vision. It’s a listening experience that will inspire and provoke thought, making “Hello” a notable contribution to contemporary music.
