It seemed impossible for THE CALL to come back after their frontman Michael Been’s passing in 2010, yet two years ago the American band released “The Lost Tapes” featuring his voice, and now the veterans take one step further and … Continue reading →
The now-five-piece – vocalist/saxophonist Will Gardner, guitarist Toby Stewert, bassist Andrew Gosden, drummer Mark Roberts and guitarist/synth musician Jules Maas-Palmer – are back with their first new music since 2024 debut EP Vertebrate.
“Let Me Go was written in the summer of 2025, an initial idea brought to the rehearsal room that was a bit too proggy,” explains Will. “We slowly tore it apart over a few weeks to make it more gnarly and dissonant, more aligned with Every Hell vibe.
“Lyrically, Let Me Go is about being stuck in a loop of guilt and self-loathing until eventually giving in to depression and anxiety instead of fighting it. I think a lot of the time we fight really hard against deep and dark emotions instead of embracing them as part of being human and imperfect.”
For a decade now, Mike Chick has been leading the Asbury Park indie rock band Yawn Mower; their sophomore album I Just Can’t Wait To Die came out last year. Chick also makes solo music. He released his own full-length More Thrills, Less Hills in 2024, and now he’s getting ready to follow it with…

(Today we present Comrade Aleks’ interview of Kristjan Virma from the long-running Estonian band Taak, whose latest album was released last October.) With the Estonian band Taak, things are both simple and complex. Formally, the band has been around since 2004, but in fact, that year the entire lineup of Estonia’s first doom metal band, […]
We’re nearing the end of March and as such, spring is fast approaching. I cannot express how excited I am to get hit with allergies again just in time to enjoy the warmer weather. In the meantime, here’s some new tunes to get hyped about.
The Deer Hunter
Sunya (Cave & Canary)
A prog band taking on some high concept sci-fi bullshit ain’t nothing new. But it’s the way that The Deer Hunter does it that makes ’em stand out. The songs sound huge, epic in nature, while still retaining some of the band’s more catchy and wide-ranging styles.
Exodus
Goliath (Napalm Records)
Classic thrash metal outfit Exodus is back with vocalist Rob Dukes and this is the album that came out of that reunion. It’s heavy. It’s relentless. It kicks all kinds of ass even after five years of not putting out any new music. Still, Dukes sounds like he belongs in the band and never missed any time away. It’s just pure, unadulterated Exodus and it’s absolutely worth your time.
Filth Is Eternal
Impossible World (MNRK Heavy)
Formerly known as Fucked and Bound, it’s been about three years since Filth Is Eternal released new music. This time around, the songs are a little longer than normal, there are some new members in the fold, and the result is a pissed off record that goes more places than the band used to.
Gaerea
Loss (Century Media)
Portuguese black metal is on display once again, as Gaerea’s new album Loss adds to the band’s overarching sound and lore. As you might come to expect, this album’s stuffed with heavy rhythms, crushing riffs, and some major orchestral parts that really elevate this album
Poison The Well
Peace In Place (SharpTone Records)
It’s the return of Poison The Well. Having not released a new piece of music almost a decade, this one’s been a long time coming. It’s super pissed off, which makes sense given everything else goin on lately. If you’re pissed off at everything, this will be right up your alley.
Other Shit That Comes Out Today:

The latest Lizzo comeback attempt is upon us. Her hitmaking run came to a screeching halt in 2023, when he was hit with multiple lawsuits from former employees who accused her of sexual harassment and creating a hostile work environment. Lizzo denied the allegations and announced, “I didn’t sign up for this shit— I QUIT.”…
Marc Broussard has released two new singles, “I’m Going Home” and “Trying To Do Right,” offering a preview of his upcoming album Chance Worth Taking, due out April 17 on Joe Bonamassa’s KTBA Records. The project marks Broussard’s first full collection of all-original blues and soul material.
The new tracks feature prominent guitar work from Joe Bonamassa, whose playing complements Broussard’s signature vocal style and songwriting. “I’m Going Home” is built around a steady groove and horn-driven arrangement, with Bonamassa delivering searing riffs throughout the track.
“’I’m Going Home’ is one of those songs that speaks to my undying love for my beautiful wife,” Broussard explains. “I’d die without her. I wouldn’t even have the will to continue living. Joe played his butt off at every turn, which probably speaks to his love affair with the guitar.”
The second single, “Trying To Do Right,” takes a more reflective approach. The slow-burning blues ballad opens with Bonamassa’s guitar and builds into an emotional, confessional chorus driven by Broussard’s vocals.
“’Trying To Do Right’ came in a flurry,” Broussard recalls. “I had to harken back to the earliest days of my relationship with my wife. I wasn’t always a good boyfriend—in fact, I was a terrible one in those early days. The regret is somewhat softened by the knowledge that I can draw on those memories for inspiration in my writing. Thanks to Joe for providing the added emotional emphasis.”
Both songs were co-written by Broussard and Calvin Turner, with the writing sessions taking shape quickly.
“These songs were both part of the initial batch Calvin and I wrote, which came together over 3 days in a bit of a writing frenzy. Calvin came up with the hook and arrangement for ‘Right,’ and like a good hunting dog, once I’m onto a scent, I’m gonna find it. I was a madman who couldn’t resist the pull of the writer’s room from sunup to sundown.”
Produced by Bonamassa, Josh Smith, and Turner, Chance Worth Taking is a 14-track album that also includes previously released singles “Fever” and “No More.” Bonamassa contributes guitar to 10 tracks, including three co-writes, while Smith and Turner also play key roles in the album’s songwriting and arrangements.
Broussard is currently touring Europe and will launch a U.S. run in April, including festival appearances and headlining dates across the country.
