  • Gouge Away Sign To Run For Cover Records, Release New Song

Gouge Away have announced that they have joined the Run For Cover Records family, and kicked off their residency with one hell of a bang.

The band have shared a new track to celebrate, titled ‘Figurine’. An instantly catchy, raw and angular piece of modern punk push and pull, it shows off every aspect of the band’s journey so far in screaming colour. A cacophony of bubbling riffs, caramel melodies and pit-spinning fury, it’s a bold and brash return to the table, and one that sets up whatever is coming up next as utterly vital.

Vocalist Christina Michelle had this to say about the creation of the song, explaining, “’Figurine’ is the first song we finished with Theo Hartlett (Ovlov, Pet Fox), a friend of ours who has been touring with us on guitar. We wrote this song while on tour last fall and it came together so easily. I went into writing the lyrics with an entirely different idea in mind, but these spilled out of me on one of the drives.

Before the tour, I was digitizing home videos, having to see myself as a kid from an outside perspective. I knew I was shy, a people-pleaser, and all these things, but it was different to watch it on film. I was always afraid of disappointing people so I made myself small and rarely acted outside of this little box I found myself in. Instead of getting into trouble like most kids, I didn’t really break out of my comfort zone until much more recently. I thought I had to work really hard to be loved. I stretch myself so thin to please everyone else that it winds up being the expectation. I found people who love me, even when I am a messy trainwreck, and that toppled my entire reality. And yet, there’s still this little kid inside of me who is afraid of upsetting her parents.

We recorded this song live to tape in Portland at Jackpot! It was our first time working with Larry Crane and it was so much fun.”

The song is available on a special 7′ record, which comes with a b-side of a cover version of “Eisbär” by Grauzone. You can pick your copy up now from right here.

The band have a busy 2026 ahead of them, with shows with Touché Amoré, Foo Fighters and Wednesday to come. Here is where you will be able to catch them.

  • Kevin Morby – “Die Young”

Do you ever think about the fact that you’re still alive? It’s an easy thing to take for granted, but it’s not guaranteed. I’ve had close calls, and you probably have, too. Sometimes, its worthwhile just to slow down, breathe air, and remind yourself that your continued existence on this planet is some kind of…

  • Devin Townsend announces ambitious, orchestral metal opus ‘The Moth’, first single “Enter the City” out now

Canadian metal maverick Devin Townsend has built a career on distinct creative worlds—heavy records, atmospheric detours, character-driven releases—each with its own logic and weather system. His latest release, The Moth, is different. It arrives without a pre-existing template, not as a pivot for novelty’s sake, but as a culmination: a project conceived from the beginning as orchestral, choral, and theatrical in scope, with the scale required to underline the emotional transformation at the heart of the concept.

An album over a decade in the making, The Moth finally arrives on the 29th May 2026. This 24-track record began as a vague vision more than a decade ago. It existed in the back of Devin Townsend’s mind as his “life’s work”. Then, about six years ago, after an acoustic show in Amsterdam, Townsend was approached by the head of the North Netherlands’ Orchestra and Choir with an offer: bring orchestral grandeur to Devin’s extensive discography.

Townsend’s response was immediate—and telling. If those forces were going to be assembled, he wanted to spend them on something new: this original work that had been circling him for years, waiting for a door to open. That was the moment The Moth stopped being an idea and began to become a reality.

Today, to coincide with the announcement, Devin is also pleased to reveal the first introduction to the world of The Moth, in the shape of the track ‘Enter The City’. The song is accompanied by a video created by Studio Sparks, which you can watch now here:

As Devin explains, The Moth is “a loose story following someone who realises that old patterns of behaviour are no longer serving them. By digging in and sitting with themselves, an internal conflict is revealed, one they may have been resisting or unconsciously rationalizing for years”, and ‘Enter The City comes towards the beginning of that story arc.

The Moth constitutes 3 distinct parts across its release. In addition to the main album, The Moth – The Afterlife highlights the grandeur of the orchestra & choir, in what might be considered a more pure version of The Moth experience. The Moth – The War is a recording of the live musical debut that took place in March 2025 in The Netherlands, showcasing the raw emotion of performing The Moth for the very first time.

The Moth will be available on several formats including Ltd Deluxe 3CD+Blu-ray Artbook that includes the album on CD1, ‘The Moth – The Afterlife’ on CD2 & ‘The Moth – The War (Live)’ on CD3. The Blu-ray includes the full ‘The Moth – The War’ live film, as well as Dolby Atmos & High Resolution Stereo Mixes of the ‘The Moth’ and ‘The Moth – The Afterlife’. It will also be available as Limited 2CD Edition (including ‘The Moth-The Afterlife’ on CD2), Standard CD Jewelcase and as Gatefold Triple-Gatefold 180g 2LP & Fold-Out LP-booklet, as well as digitally. Pre-order now here: https://dvn.lnk.to/TheMoth

The full track-listing is as follows:
    1. Semi-prologue
    2. War Beyond Words
    3. The Moth
    4. Ode To My Eye
    5. Enter The City
    6. Covered By Causes
    7. Lexin
    8. Runaways
    9. A Proxy For God

    15. Lexin Returns
    16. The Clergy
    17. Prepare For War

    20. A Life in Review
    21. Metamorphosis
    22. Stained Hearts
    23. Let Go
    24. We Don’t Deserve Dogs

If The Moth has a central gravitational theme, Townsend names it plainly: true self-acceptance. Something sturdier than slogans, closer to a practiced willingness to face what is uncomfortable without turning away. As Devin explains: “The most obvious metaphor for change within the concept of this project was a moth: from caterpillar to an entirely different creature—one so drawn to the light that it burns itself away. What remains is immutable—only the spirit.”

At the hardest moments, when abandoning the project might have seemed rational, Townsend points to the team as the decisive factor. A host of incredible musicians and contributors participated throughout the course of this process, as well as the North Netherlands Orchestra & Choir and orchestrators Joseph Stevenson & Niels Bye Nielsen. Long time band members Darby Todd, Mike Keneally, James Leach played a huge part, as well as guests including the Steve Vai, Anneke van Giersbergen, Lynn Wu (Ou), and artists Travis Smith & Eliran Kantor, plus key creative consultation from Mike St-Jean. The technical teams that worked tirelessly included co-mixer Chris Edrich, recording engineers Ben Searles & Jacob Hermann, Atmos mixer Ron Searles, Mastering engineer Troy Glessner, choirs in various countries throughout the world, and peripheral individuals that helped land this behemoth of a plane.

  • Noah Kahan Defends Chappell Roan After Paparazzi Incident, Boy George Says She Should “Cheer Up”

For almost two years, the matter of Chappell Roan’s attitude has been a major subject of internet conversation. We should all just go get a life! Roan has a history of yelling at photographers, and people have read all kinds of stuff into that. It’s like we’re all so used to pop stars who have spent entire childhoods in Disney-sitcom charm school that we can’t be normal about someone reacting to weird fame situations in non-robotic ways. Also, have you ever been around paparazzi? They are incredibly irritating! I spent a few hours in a room with some of them once (the press room of the 2005 CMAs), and I wanted to crawl out of my skin. Anyway, Chappell Roan’s latest shutterbug run-in has inspired more discussion among her fellow pop stars.
