Doom OGs Trouble had a track called “Misery Shows” back on their third full-length in 1987 and that song title probably offers the best description of of the gnarly sludge on display on French duo Azken Auzi‘s new record, Infernua. These dudes—Ludo (vocals/guitar) and Fred (drums)—don’t sound like Trouble, but Infernua is as misery soaked as gets, and it definitely shows. The six-tracker grinds along at a glacial pace, peppered only by occasional bits of sampled dialogue and Ludo’s wretched vocals. It’s as black and bleak as the trio of ravens perched on the cover.

Infernua is the follow-up to the band’s 2022 self-titled effort. It’s set for release on CD, viny and digitally on March 6 via Argonauta Records. Place your preorder here.

ICE NINE KILLS “Twisting The Knife (feat. Mckenna Grace)” Becomes Band’s Biggest Track Hitting 10 Million Streams In First Week

Paramount Pictures and Spyglass Media Group Scream 7 has slashed its way to a franchise-best debut, becoming the #1 movie in the world. Ice Nine Kills original single “Twisting The Knife (feat. Mckenna Grace)” plays over the film’s closing credits. Since the song was digitally released on 2/19, “Twisting The Knife (feat. Mckenna Grace)” has amassed almost 10 million streams in it’s first week of release, making it the band’s most successful single launch to date.

As audiences poured into theaters over opening weekend, the official music video, which features cast members Roger L. Jackson as Ghostface, Mckenna Grace, and David Arquette and creator of The Jerky Boys, Johnny Brennan, has now surpassed 5.2 million views at time of writing, extending the cultural footprint of the collaboration well beyond the big screen.

Speaking on the extraordinarily success of both Scream 7 and “Twisting The Knife (feat. Mckenna Grace)”, Ice Nine Kills frontman Spencer Charnas shares

“The horror community, movie maniacs, and our beloved Psychos showed up in force and gave my favorite franchise its biggest opening weekend ever. The filmmakers, cast, Paramount Pictures, and Spyglass put in incredible work.

Kevin Williamson, Marco Beltrami, and, of course, the late Wes Craven are such massive influences on Ice Nine Kills.

If you’ve been looking for a new band that feels like Mastodon but has their own sense of scale and groove imbued in everything they do, look no further than Witch Ripper and their latest single “The Clock Queen”. Featured on their forthcoming album Through The Hourglass, this new track isn’t just great, but it helps tell the overarching story found in the band’s third studio effort.

Vocalist and guitarist Curtis Parker explains how this one song has an all-encompassing importance to the story they’re trying to tell in their music.

“‘The Clock Queen’ is the best representation of Witch Ripper in its purest form: Heavy. Melodic. Progressive. In our story, it represents the big reveal of who our antagonist meets in this world they’ve found themselves in. Throughout the album, we peppered in what we call “the clock queen’s theme,” a melody that sneaks its way into almost every song at some point. This song is the culmination of that tension and it’s when we finally meet the driving force of the album: The Clock Queen herself.”
