GRAVEBORN Unleashes Title Track Playthrough From Forthcoming Album Metempsychosis

Boston-based progressive death metal outfit GRAVEBORN is giving fans a first taste of their highly anticipated fifth full-length, Metempsychosis , with a playthrough video of the title track. The album is set to drop April 3, and this latest preview showcases guitarist Chris Ramusiewicz in full shred mode. Watch the video:

Vocalist John Leblanc describes the song as the “core statement of the album.”

“It’s the track where everything shifts from what is happening to me to what is happening through me,” Leblanc explains. “ Metempsychosis is not a cute spiritual idea here. It’s a brutal, continuous process. The soul persists across lifetimes, but not in a sentimental way. It persists through reconstruction, through collapse, through the repeated loss of form. It’s endurance through transformation.”

Leblanc continues, emphasizing the philosophical underpinning of the album:

“Ideas move the way souls move. They don’t just appear. They transfer. They are inherited. They go dormant. They reawaken. They show up inside someone like a realization, but they may have been traveling through bloodlines, culture, trauma, resilience, and repetition for generations. This is not passive. It’s evolutionary. Each cycle reshapes what it carries forward. The self is not a fixed object. It’s a changing vessel. The essential nature persists, but the expression changes, sometimes violently.”

The track’s chorus mirrors this complexity, fragmenting as language itself struggles to capture the concept of continuity and transformation:

“Ego fades. Boundaries dissolve. Self becomes pattern. Awareness becomes primary. I’m not the origin of who I am. I’m part of a continuum. My life is not a standalone story. It’s one iteration in a larger transmission.”

Metempsychosis spans 11 tracks and sees GRAVEBORN confronting both personal and societal collapse, exploring the mechanisms of continuity amidst destruction.
Since 2021’s Transmigrator , GRAVEBORN has spent five years crafting this magnum opus, challenging listeners to stare into both the internal and external abyss. Metempsychosis does not offer easy answers; instead, it confronts destruction as an essential part of continuity, asking a single relentless question: what remains when everything else is gone?
Pre-orders for the album are available now at gravebornma.bandcamp.com, and the title track, along with previous singles, are streaming on Spotify and Apple Music.

  • Metallica’s Las Vegas Residency Will Now Creep Into 2027

    Metallica 01

Roughly 24 hours after announcing that they were adding six more dates to their residency at the Sphere in Las Vegas, Metallica has actually announced those dates. You’ll need to have the cash and avoid the scalpers, but you might be able to get yourself some tickets pretty soon, too.

Though initially only available for eight days in October, the ‘Life Burns Faster’ residency has been expanded to include more No Repeat Weekends on October 8 and 10, November 5 and 7, and January 28 and 30, 2027. Those last two dates mark the band’s first live shows for the new year.

According to the band, fan club presales for both Legacy and Fifth Members starts tomorrow, March 4 at 1 p.m. ET/10 a.m. PT. Anyone that already received a presale code can use it to access the new presales.

Fans that were attempting to get tickets for the initial eight days have had a hell of a time being able to purchase them. Of course, that’s kind of the natural order of things in this bot-ridden world, but if you want to try to snag tickets on a place like StubHub, you’re going to see inflated costs of about $4,000 for two nights in the “snake pit” and over $1,000 for those two nights in the nosebleeds. Normally, tickets range from $700 for a single night to between $1,000 and almost $3,000 for VIP and multi-night packages, so those third-party prices are fucking insane.

If you choose to try to get your hands on some tickets through Ticketmaster or through the Metallica presale, may the odds be ever in your favor. Otherwise, you’re gonna make some shitty scalper very, very happy. Me? I’ll just sit at home and watch Cunning Stunts for the umpteenth time.

  • Nocturnal Ceremony’s “Obsidian” Earns Rave Review – A Dark Horse for AOTY – @thebeast

    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Nocturnal Ceremony’s “Obsidian” Earns Rave Review – A Dark Horse for AOTY
Independent modern death metal force Nocturnal Ceremony is back from a 30-year hiatus with a debut album that is turning heads and breaking necks. Obsidian , released March 4th, 2026 , has already earned a glowing review from Heavy Metal Philosophy , calling it “a dark horse for your AOTY list. I was genuinely shocked.”
Formed in the 90s as kids playing talent shows, Nocturnal Ceremony disappeared before their full potential could be realized. Now, decades later, they return with a record that outshines many seasoned bands who’ve spent years under major-label guidance. Obsidian delivers crushing riffs, punishing grooves, and an atmosphere both malignant and captivating.
    The review highlights:
Guitar tones “some of the chunkiest in recent memory”
Production that amplifies heaviness with clarity and punch
Dynamic shifts that keep every moment fresh
    Relentless grooves and malicious atmosphere
Fans of Igorrr, Behemoth, and Bloodbath will find a kindred darkness in Obsidian . Rated “AOTY Contender” , the album is already gaining traction as a standout release in the underground scene.
Nocturnal Ceremony says of the album:
“Sharing our music is a way of alleviation, up to the point of being cathartic. It is a way to express emotions that simply don’t have any words, or a name. Releasing these songs is an act of letting go of some demons. It is about accepting what life now is and who you have become, to perhaps ultimately find some small measure of peace. Maybe by listening, you can too. We are Nocturnal Ceremony – welcome to our darkness.”
Produced, mixed, mastered, and engineered by Thomas Madsen , Obsidian captures the band’s raw ferocity and atmospheric depth. Each track channels chaos and emotion into a dark, crushing sonic journey that refuses to be ignored.

Independent, relentless, and unapologetically heavy, Nocturnal Ceremony proves that modern death metal still has room for both intensity and emotion, and Obsidian is the proof.
