  • Bowling For Soup Release Cover Of Simple Plan’s ‘I’m Just A Kid’

Bowling For Soup are preparing for their upcoming tour with Simple Plan by sharing a cover of one of their biggest, and most viral, songs.

You know that it’s ‘I’m Just A Kid’, an anthem that has soundtracked every generation’s existential crisis since its release in 2002. It has also found a home on TikTok as a means of allowing people to look back on their former selves and see just how much has changed.

So it feels fitting that BFS put their own spin on it, as a band that has been doing this for longer than many of their fans have even been alive. A chance to look back on their own journey, celebrate an old friend and look forward to more huge moments in the future. Because neither band is slowing down anytime soon.

Vocalist Jaret Reddick had this to say about getting to tour together, stating, “I thought they would never ask! Ha. I am so happy to be going back on tour with our little bros Simple Plan. Over 20 years of touring together brings a special relationship. It’s a big family! Oh, and the shows will be awesome too!

You can check out the track, accompanied by a video brimming with nostalgia and heart, below:

  • WATCH: Turnstile’s Dreamy Cover Of The Stone Roses’ ‘I Wanna Be Adored’

Turnstile have taken part in triple j’s longstanding segment ‘Like A Version’, and put their spin on one of the best songs of all time.

That song is ‘I Wanna Be Adored’ by The Stone Roses, a track that, 37 years after its release, still sounds outrageously fresh and beautifully complex. It also makes sense that Turnstile would have such an affinity for the band and their atmospheric, dreamy, powerful soundscapes, as much of the same craftsmanship can be found in their own work. Pushing boundaries, shifting perceptions and making music that speaks to the soul as much as it lingers in the ear, that is the whole point.

And the band do an incredible job of blending their own style of playing with that of Ian, Mani, John and Remi. Delicate synth builds, caustic chord playing, and Brendan Yates’ caramel croons, it is a wonderful sight to behold.

And as the band made their way to Manchester this past weekend for the BRITs, it feels incredibly fitting.

The band will be taking over Halifax’s Piece Hall, a 5500-capacity outdoor venue, on August 26 for an exclusive headline show in the UK. They will also be playing at All Points East on August 28 as support for Tyler, The Creator.

Bristol’s Progressive Sludge Quartet URZAH announce Sophomore Album ‘A Tranquil Void’

Released 5th June 2026 on APF Records

Formed in 2020, just before the pandemic hit, Urzah’s intensely collaborative and productive writing process was immediately evident, leading to the quick release of self-titled EPs ‘I’ (2020) and ‘II’ (2022). These laid the foundation for Urzah’s unique brand of ‘progressive sludge’. Inviting comparisons to Neurosis, DVNE, Mastodon and Elder, their forward-looking sound combines the abrasive elements of punk and post-hardcore with atmospheric post-metal passages and soaring melodies.

Urzah’s vision of ‘Earthen Heaviness’, combining oppressive darkness with moments of transcendence and cosmic awe, was realised on their critically acclaimed debut LP ‘The Scorching Gaze’ (2024, APF Records). The band’s sonic world draws on both the intensely personal – rage, loss, grief and self-doubt – and a profound awe and vulnerability in the face of the celestial and natural worlds, framing visceral human struggle within vast cycles of death, decay and rebirth.

Since their debut, Urzah has refined their live shows across the UK, playing festivals and headline shows, and sharing stages with a diverse roster of heavy bands including Bongzilla, Tuskar, Mastiff, Greenleaf, OHHMS and Dopelord, as well as progressive atmospheric bands such as Hidden Mothers, Underdark and Nadja, demonstrating their strong cross-genre appeal.

Now the band are set to release new LP ‘A Tranquil Void on 5th June 2026 via APF Records. The record marks a defining moment for the band, following up their critically acclaimed debut ‘A Scorching Gaze’ (2024, APF) with an even more assured, mature and ambitious full-length. Conceptually, ‘The Scorching Gaze’ and ‘A Tranquil Void’ function as a visual, musical and thematic diptych; where their debut burned brightly with the rage and destruction of an erupting volcano, their new LP captures the cathartic, contemplative still that follows.

‘A Tranquil Void’ draws inspiration from both personal introspection and awe in the face of the vast cosmos. Lead single ‘Infernal Star I’ reflects on the power of memory and connection to cast light in the darkness of a vast and uncharted universe. Listen to the track now:

    https://lnkfi.re/teVrV8bO

‘In the Mouth of the Wolf’ examines forgiveness and personal healing, while ‘Hunter in the Veil’ explores cycles of death and renewal through grand elemental imagery, while other tracks grapple with overcoming grief (‘The Call Beneath’), rejecting apathy for aspiration (‘At the Mouth of the Cave’) and creating art and meaning in spite of adversity (‘Bark & Branches’).

Across 8 tracks, ‘A Tranquil Void’ pushes Urzah’s sound even further, combining brutal riffs, complicated meter and searing guitar tone with deeper explorations of space, dynamics and atmosphere, incorporating folk influences and drones built from cello and guitar. 13-minute album closer ‘Entwined, Twisted Roots of Chaos’ sees Urzah at their most ambitious; across multiple interlocking sections, enriched by guest vocals from friends in the Bristol scene, the song builds from a haunting whisper to a planet-obliterating roar.

  • See Turnstile cover The Stone Roses’ I Wanna Be Adored

Turnstile have covered The Stone Roses’ I Wanna Be Adored for triple j’s Like A Version YouTube series.

The iconic opening single on the band’s 1989 self-titled debut album, vocalist Brendan Yates tells the radio station that it’s one of my favourite songs of all time. It’s unconventional and simple, and just very beautiful.”

Speaking about the decision to cover it, guitarist Meg Mills enthuses that it’s got one of the most iconic basslines of all time. I think it’s so powerful in its simplicity.”

She adds that Brendan had come up with a list of potential future Turnstile covers, and following the death of legendary Stone Roses bassist Gary Mani’ Mounfield last year, the time was right to tackle this one.

With the passing of Mani, it felt like a really appropriate time to pay homage to him,” she says. Definitely as a Brit, The Stone Roses were one of those bands that every kid who had any inkling towards anything alternative just knew from such an early age. Just such an iconic band, and in my opinion, probably the coolest of all of the Manchester bands coming out at that time – just in a league of their own.”

  • Bloodstock M2TM South Wales Interviews: Paroxism – East Heat #3 Green Rooms, 06.03.26

Interview With Paroxism – East Heat #3 Green Rooms, 06.03.26

    1. Please introduce yourself for anyone who may not know you. Tell us a little bit more about you as a band.

We’re Paroxism, a South Wales–based extreme metal band blending elements of death metal, thrash, black metal and groove into music we genuinely love to write and play. Everything we do is driven by energy, heaviness and having a good time on stage.

    2. What made you want to participate in the Metal To The Masses South Wales 2026 campaign? Have you had previous experience? Or is this your first time?

This is our second time taking part. We did have a go previously, but the band was very much in a beta stage compared to where we are now, both in terms of lineup and sound. This time around we feel far more solid and ready to properly throw ourselves into it.

    3. M2TM is all about supporting your local scene. How important is the local scene to you as a band?

The South Wales scene is hugely important to us. It’s how most of us met in the first place, and we’re all very active in supporting local bands and shows. We really hope the bands that have already made it through to Bloodstock, and those that will in the future, help shine a bigger spotlight on how strong this region actually is.

    4. We have a slightly different set up this year with Heats/Quarters/Semis taking place at Green Rooms. Have you played the venue before or is this your first time? Are you excited to get on those stages?

We played Green Rooms last year and it was an incredible experience. The sound was great and the atmosphere was spot on, so we’re genuinely excited to be returning and getting back on that stage.

    5. What are your expectations from being a part of M2TM?

Honestly, we’re going in pretty open-minded. Beyond playing the shows, it’s about meeting people, seeing great bands, and being part of the wider community that M2TM creates. Any connections or opportunities that come from it are a huge bonus.

    6. What would getting to our Day Of Wreckoning final and the possibility of playing Bloodstock Festival 2026 mean to you?

It would mean the world to us. We’ve been attending the M2TM finals for years, spending countless evenings watching bands play from the crowd, so getting the chance to stand on that stage ourselves would be unreal. And playing Bloodstock… that really speaks for itself.

    7. We encourage all the bands in M2TM to try and check out the other bands, who are you most looking forward to? Who should your fans also try to catch?

We’re especially looking forward to seeing Exaust, who we’re sharing a bill with. We’ve seen them once before and they absolutely rip, so we’d definitely encourage our fans to check them out as well.

    8. Tell us in five words why people should come and see your band.

    Heavy riffs, chaos, energy, intense
