We’re one Stroke down. As New York rockers the Strokes prepare to release their new album Reality Awaits and to head out on a huge tour, longtime rhythm guitarist Nick Valensi will take what the band calls a “temporary break.” The Strokes mentioned Valensi’s hiatus on their Instagram story, and they didn’t cite a reason, but they do “look forward to his return.” Instead of Valensi, Longwave frontman Steve Schlitz will serve as a temporary Stroke.

Anthrax has released “It’s for the Kids,” the lead single from Cursum Perficio — the Queens, N.Y. thrash metal institution’s 12th studio album and its first since 2016’s For All Kings. The single premiered alongside a music video directed by Don Argott, shot on a cold December day at the notorious Pennhurst Asylum.
The band’s camp described the visual concept: “Filmed on a cold, rainy December day at the notorious Pennhurst Asylum, the video is a throwback to Anthrax‘s first video, ‘Madhouse’. Many of the details were recreated for this video, including the frigid filming conditions! The fans are the true lifeblood of this video. They got an early taste of the music and brought this filming to life.”
Cursum Perficio was produced by Jay Ruston, who has previously worked with Stone Sour and Armored Saint. The album’s track listing surfaced online earlier in the week ahead of the single’s release. Pre-orders are available now at this location.

The Maine have shared a surprise new track to complete their tenth studio album ‘Joy Next Door’.

Though we were led to believe that we’d heard the whole record when it officially dropped last month, the Arizona five-piece have been keeping one last little secret up their sleeves – until now.
Titled ‘Parking Garage Song #5’, the bright, acoustic-led track has been shared today, not as a bonus track, but as the essential final piece of the album’s puzzle.
The band have spoken about what the song adds to the story of their latest chapter:
“The recording of Joy Next Door felt like a marathon as we spent months on end “perfecting” every song to create an album we are extremely proud of. During that process there was a tune we kept circling back to, that for whatever reason wouldn’t quite fully materialize even though we all felt it’s magic. The song spoke to what those obscure and ever-evolving four numbers in 8123 have meant to all of us for well over 20 years now. We were certain we couldn’t release it into the world until it was exactly how we heard it in our heads, so over the past few weeks on tour we finally realized and finished, “Parking Garage Song #5.” This is not “deluxe” or “bonus;” this is what we intended to create and share with the 8123 family.
So without any further ado,
THIS IS OUR TENTH STUDIO ALBUM, JOY NEXT DOOR.”

‘Joy Next Door’ is out now via Photo Finish Records, and The Maine will be hitting the road across both sides of the Atlantic later this year to celebrate.
In September, they’ll be taking to stages across the UK and Europe.
On either side of those dates will be a run of shows in the US, where they’ll be joined by Hellogoodbye and In Color.
