ear – “Ne Plus Ultra”
“Ne Plus Ultra” is the first new music of year from IDM-inspired duo ear. Last September, they self-released their debut album The Most Dear And The Future, which followed their first-ever release, 2024’s “Nerves.” “Ne Plus Ultra” sounds like a found footage film — a collage of buzzy bass blowouts, spaceship blips, icy vocals, cut-and-paste…

Voivod / New Symphonique Live Album Features Quebec Symphony Orchestra

Canadian Progressive Metal innovators Voivod have announced the release of Symphonique, a special live album recorded with the Quebec Symphony Orchestra, arriving worldwide on 5 June 2026 via Century Media Records.
Captured live at the Grand Theatre in Quebec City on 4 June 2025, the release features a carefully curated 12-song set spanning 73 minutes. The album combines Voivod’s futuristic Heavy Metal sound with full orchestral arrangements, creating what drummer Michel ‘Away’ Langevin describes as the closest the band has come to sounding like a dystopian sci-fi movie soundtrack.
“This live album with the Quebec Symphony Orchestra is a longtime dream turned reality,” Langevin said. “Thankfully, we will experience it again in 2027 with the Orchestre symphonique du Saguenay-Lac-St-Jean, right in the region where VOÏVOD formed back in 1983.
We wish to take this show across the globe with local orchestras one day, but in the meantime, I hope you will enjoy this epic release. It’s the closest we’ve ever come to sounding like a dystopian sci-fi movie soundtrack, another dream of ours.”
Voivod have also shared the first single, Forgotten In Space (Symphonique).
“Taken from the album Killing Technology, Forgotten In Space transports us to a Mad Max-esque science-fiction universe,” bassist Dominic ‘Rocky’ Laroche said. “Denis ‘Piggy’ D’Amour was even inspired by it when composing parts of the original version.
“This incredible symphonic masterpiece, orchestrated by Hugo Begin, offers a powerful orchestral introduction that takes us on a musical journey where the fusion of Metal and classical music invites us to imagine, for 6 minutes and 27 seconds, that humanity itself may have been forgotten in space.”
After more than four decades together, Voivod continue to push boundaries with a release that revisits highlights from across their celebrated catalogue. Symphonique follows the band’s Juno Award-winning 2022 album Synchro Anarchy and their 40th anniversary release Morgoth Tales.
Symphonique will be available as a CD jewelcase in O-card packaging, multiple gatefold double vinyl editions and digital formats. Pre-orders are available from here.
Voivod will also embark on a UK and Ireland tour in June with support from Midnight and Cryptosis, including dates in London, Manchester, Glasgow, Dublin and Belfast. Tickets and a full iist of dates can be found at voivod.com/en/shows.
