Long Island’s basement show circuit turned into Brand New’s foundation, and the band’s early lineup chemistry came directly out of that local scene. Brand New was formed in 2000 in Merrick, New York. Jesse Lacey, Garrett Tierney, and Brian Lane had played together in the Levittown band the Rookie Lot, and they recruited guitarist Vincent Accardi after Lacey left his role as the band’s founding bassist in Taking Back Sunday.
