Progressive art-rockers The Pineapple Thief are pleased to announce their new single ‘Hold The Ashes’, their first release with InsideOutMusic. The band recently wrapped work on their as-yet-unannounced new studio album, and are about to perform some select live dates in the UK & Europe during the summer.

The video for ‘Hold The Ashes’ was directed by long-time collaborate Jeremy George of Blacktide Productions, and sees them performing the track at School Farm Studios in the UK.

As Bruce Soord explains: “One thing is certain, one day we’ll all be ashes. It’s the ‘gift from the gods that comes to us all’. For some reason, when writing this song, I couldn’t stop singing about ‘ashes’ in the context of understanding what life is about. ‘Writhing in constant conflict’. Why? So take these ashes and scatter them far and wide. You know, make the most of it.”

Green Lung Reveal ‘Necropolitan Line’ Single

Albion’s masters of folklore, riffs and legends return with another slab of tomb-shaking, crypt-kicking occult rock. Green Lung have revealed their latest track, ‘Necropolitan Line‘, a Motorhead-meets-Deep Purple subterranean rampage across London’s infamous Necropolis Railway.

‘Necropolitan Line‘ is taken from Green Lung‘s forthcoming new record, Necropolitan, due out on Friday September 11th 2026. A monumental portrait of the power of nature over the dreams and dominion of humankind, Necropolitan is also a grand celebration of the occult lore and heavy music scene of the band’s birthplace, the city of London.

    Green Lung stated:

“Is there a more fitting subject for a Green Lung song than the Necropolis Railway, a real-life train line that carried corpses and mourners across London in the late 19th Century? Mix in some inspiration from 1972’s London Underground-set shocker Death Line, a madcap neoclassical organ/guitar duel that evokes Richie Blackmore and Jon Lord at their finger blistering best, and a record Lung BPM of 180, and you have the second single from our fourth album. We can’t wait to play this one live for the first time at the Acid Bath show in Manchester on Thursday. Mind the doors!”

The video, directed by Tracy Mathewson and featuring animation from Joseph Brett, is a tribute to the early 70s German TV show Beat Club, which featured Lung antecedents such as Sabbath, Purple and Lucifer’s Friend. Featuring an introduction from longtime roadie Metal Joe, we enter the band’s own warped version of the show, titled Crypt Club. Will future episodes follow? Only time will tell…

On the week that Necropolitan is released, Green Lung will be visiting some selected record stores to sign vinyl and CDs, plus fans will have the chance for a photo op with their very own Goatwizard. Head to greenlung.co.uk for more details! And keep your eyes peeled for more events as we get closer to release…

  • Red Hands and Eric Gales achieve rare milestone on Billboard chart

Red Hands and Eric Gales have achieved a rare Billboard chart milestone as their collaborative album Kinfolk debuted at No. 1 on both the Billboard Blues Albums chart and the Billboard Gospel Albums chart.

Released on June 12, Kinfolk blends blues, gospel, and soul influences, helping the album connect with audiences across multiple genres. Landing at the top of both charts is an uncommon accomplishment and highlights the project’s appeal.

Eric Gales shared his excitement about the achievement in a statement to Blues Rock Review.

“I am extremely proud of and happy to be a part of this amazing project with Red Hands,” said Gales. “I’m floored to wake up and find out we are #1 not only on the Gospel Billboard charts, but also #1 on the Blues Billboard charts!!! Wowowow. I’m so grateful!!! I’m looking to begin to spread the EG “DNA” on everything I can!! Thanx so much for the continued support.”

Red Hands also thanked fans for their support in a message posted on Facebook.

“The amount of love you’ve shown this album has been crazy, and grateful honestly feels like too small of a word. Thank you for embracing these songs, these stories, and this reminder that people are still the assignment.

Huge love to @Ericgalesband, the 🐐, for believing in this project and bringing your heart to it. We’re honored to have shared this moment with you, family.”

The chart-topping success adds another milestone to Gales’ career, coming off Grammy wins as part of the Sinners soundtrack, with the acclaimed guitarist continuing to push beyond traditional genre boundaries. Gales was also just announced to take part in Buddy’s Got the Blues: A 90th Birthday Concert Celebration for Buddy Guy, on October 1, 2026, at Radio City Music Hall in New York City.

  • Palaye Royale, YONAKA & More To Appear On Smashing Pumpkins Tribute

Sumerian Records have revealed the details of a new tribute to the generational genius of The Smashing Pumpkins, with plenty of stars taking on their classics.

‘Sending Hearts To All My Dearies – A Tribute To The Smashing Pumpkins’ is set for release on August 14 and has been co-signed personally titled by Billy Corgan. It is made up of 15 songs from across the band’s career covered by some of Sumerian’s family and beyond.

    The tracklisting looks like this:

    1. Tame Impala – Hummer
    2. Yonaka – Today
    3. The Midnight – Tonight, Tonight
    4. Carpenter Brut – Cherub Rock
    5. Barns Courtney – 1979
    6. Meg Myers – Eye
    7. Palaye Royale – Bullet With Butterfly Wings
    8. Between The Buried and Me – Jellybelly
    9. Alice Glass – Drown
    10. Starbenders – Tonight, Tonight
    11. Nita Strauss – 1979
    12. Bones UK – Cherub Rock
    13. Moon Taxi – Thirty Three
    14. Des Rocs – Bullet With Butterfly Wings
    15. Urban Heat – Ava Adore

And the artwork looks like this:

The first taster of the tribute is out now as well, and it is the opening track. That is a take on ‘Hummer’, the beautifully tranquil epic from 1993’s ‘Siamese Dream’. Delivering their own version of it is none other than Tame Impala, who take the woozy and kaleidoscopic tendancies of the original and ramp them up tenfold.

Kevin Parker had this to say about it:

“Siamese Dream was the soundtrack to my high school years and ‘Hummer’ is the song that takes me back there in the most potent way.”
