  • Nick and Cristina (Edges) return with ‘One Bad Move’

The post‑punk duo Edges, made up of Nick Ruvalcaba and Cristina Sardón, is back on the scene with a new single titled “One Bad Move”, officially released on January 16, 2026. The song marks another step in the band’s sonic evolution, combining urgent guitars, enveloping synthesizers, hardcore energy, and the vocal duality that defines the project.

Since its beginnings in Los Angeles as Nick’s solo project, Edges has developed a sound that blends post‑punk, shoegaze, darkwave, and hardcore, bringing that energy to Europe since 2019. Cristina’s addition in 2023 enhanced the band’s expressiveness, providing vocals that contrast and complement Nick’s intensity, establishing Edges as a duo capable of balancing emotion and urgency.

In One Bad Move, Edges explore the tension of indecision and the fear that a single mistake can change everything, with a production defined by nervous riffs, subtle electronic textures, and vocal interplay that conveys introspection and drama. The track captures the band’s essence: emotional intensity, dense atmospheres, and a post‑punk and hardcore pulse that never lets up.

“It’s a song about the fear of messing up, about feeling that a single move could change everything. We wanted that to be heard in every chord and every word,” the duo comments about the single.

The single is now available on Bandcamp, Apple Music, and other streaming platforms.

  • Immacolata: The Spoiled and Aux Animaux Join Forces in a Dark Anthem

On January 2, 2026, the darkwave/post‑punk scene received an unexpected gift: The Spoiled, the Italian project led by Giovanni Santolla, and Swedish artist aux animaux (Gözde Düzer) joined forces to release the single “Immacolata”, a collaboration that blends the best of both worlds.

Immacolata fuses the hypnotic nocturnal energy of The Spoiled with the sinister atmosphere of aux animaux. From the very first seconds, the listener is immersed in a dark and enveloping soundscape, where deep basslines, hypnotic synthesizers, and precise percussion merge with dramatic, evocative vocals, creating an unforgettable sonic journey.

The song represents a meeting point between two of the most interesting projects in the European dark scene:

The Spoiled has built a reputation since 2015 by combining post‑punk, darkwave, and industrial elements. Their latest album, Living Ghosts (2025), explored themes of loss, guilt, and introspection, establishing Giovanni Santolla as a unique creative force in the European underground.

Aux Animaux , meanwhile, has stood out with her darkwave and hauntwave work, incorporating synths, theremin, and a visual aesthetic that reflects her commitment to animal rights and sonic experimentation. Singles such as Lost Souls and Night have already demonstrated her ability to create dense, cinematic atmospheres.

The collaboration on Immacolata merges these worlds to deliver a hypnotic and dark track, ideal for fans of industrial post‑punk as well as lovers of modern darkwave. The song has been available since its release on Apple Music, Bandcamp, and other streaming platforms. (music.apple.com)

Both projects also have upcoming concerts you won’t want to miss:

The Spoiled will perform alongside Dark Ways on February 1, 2026, at Tenax, Italy.

Aux Animaux will play in Madrid on February 5, 2026, sharing the stage with Edges and Potochkine at the Vampires Spain Festival.

  • ROCK ’N’ ROLL FANTASY CAMP Celebrates 30 Years

For three decades, Rock ’N’ Roll Fantasy Camp has built a reputation few music experiences can match. For 30 years, Rock ‘N’ Roll Fantasy Camp has done something no one thought possible — bringing everyday musicians into rehearsal rooms, studios, and onto stages with the greatest rock legends of all time.

Founded by music industry veteran David Fishof, the camp evolved into a global destination for fans who want more than a meet-and-greet. It connects musicians of all backgrounds with artists they grew up listening to, creating an immersive experience that blurs the line between fan and performer. As the camp enters its 30th anniversary, it does so with one of the strongest lineups it has ever assembled.

The 2026 camp feature high-profile headliners, including Roger Daltrey (The Who), Stewart Copeland (The Police), and Tommy Lee (Mötley Crüe). Together, these artists represent three of the most influential bands in rock history, making this anniversary year a standout moment for the camp. Full dates and additional talent details are available here.

Over the years, Rock ’N’ Roll Fantasy Camp has drawn participants far beyond the typical music scene. Past campers have included coach John Benton of the Seattle Seahawks, a former lieutenant governor of Kentucky, and professionals ranging from college professors to doctors, lawyers, engineers, and tech innovators. One of the most notable participants is Ed Oates, co-founder of Oracle, highlighting how the camp appeals to high-level thinkers and creators across industries.

In recent years, the camp has also become known for its inclusive environment. More than 40% of Rock Camp participants today are women, many of whom arrive as highly skilled musicians. In an industry historically dominated by men, the camp has become a space where women collaborate, perform, and share the stage with major artists. The program also offers “Women’s Only” camp, along with dedicated songwriting-focused sessions.

The impact extends to the artists themselves. The late Jeff Beck once called the camp “the best way to give back” after everything music had given him. Roger Daltrey says in the documentary “Rock Camp” that the experience reminds him of what it felt like when he was just starting out. Kiss bassist Gene Simmons has said he wishes Rock ’N’ Roll Fantasy Camp had existed when he was younger so artists could learn directly from the legends.

Rock Camp’s reach has carried into mainstream pop culture, with appearances and coverage across “The Simpsons”, “Billions”, “Saturday Night Live”, “The Today Show”, and “Pawn Stars”.

The documentary Rock Camp is currently available for free on Amazon, YouTube, and all major streaming platforms. The “Rock Camp” podcast continues to share stories from both artists and campers, offering a deeper look into what happens behind the scenes.

Reflecting on the milestone, founder David Fishof said: “For 30 years, Rock Camp has been about one thing — changing lives through music. We’ve watched people rediscover their passion, gain confidence, and fulfill dreams they never thought possible. And we’ve seen the artists experience the same joy by giving back.”

Fishof added: “What’s always amazed me is the caliber of people who walk through our doors, we’ve had government leaders, professors, doctors, tech pioneers — and an incredible number of women musicians who absolutely crush it. Rock Camp proves that music isn’t about age, gender, or profession. It’s about passion.”

As Rock ’N’ Roll Fantasy Camp marks its 30th year, its purpose remains unchanged: no competition, no judgment — just music, connection, and a rare chance to experience rock from the inside.

  • CONCERT REVIEW: Fort Lauderdale Got The Version Of CLOSE ENEMIES You Can’t Stream: Tight, Loud & Zero Filler

There was some sort of electricity vibrating in the air at Fort Lauderdale’s Culture Room, way before Close Enemies even hit the stage. People were shoulder to shoulder, swapping guesses about the set and waiting for that first riff, and once the lights dropped, the room flipped from chatter to full attention in seconds.

The band opened with “Rain,” then moved straight into “Sound of a Train” and “Inside Out,” which gave the night a clear identity early: tight band, hard groove, no wasted motion. “Sweet Baby Jesus” and “Take a Pill” kept the pressure on, and you could feel the crowd settle into that rhythm where nobody is looking at their phone anymore because the band has them locked in.

What made this show work was the balance between polish and attitude. Chasen Hampton kept the crowd engaged without overdoing it, Tom Hamilton held down the center of gravity on bass, and the guitar pairing of Trace Foster and Peter Stroud gave each song a little extra lift. It sounded like a band that has put in real hours together, not a one-off project, all the while Tony Brock punished the drum kit with accuracy and grace.

Mid-set, they mixed in “Midnight Rendezvous,” then rolled through “More Than I Could Ever Need,” “Love is a Battlefield,” and “Mystery of Love.” The pacing there was smart. They gave the room a breather without losing momentum, then pulled everybody back in with “Seasons of Wither.”

The final run landed hardest: “Dry Rocket,” “Wink & a Feather,” then the two Aerosmith cuts, “Sick as a Dog” and “Sweet Emotion,” which got the biggest singalong of the night. They closed with a drum solo that segued into “Head First,” and it felt like the right kind of ending for this room: loud, loose, and a little chaotic in a good way.

Overall, this was a proper club-rock show, the kind where the band sounds close enough to touch, and the crowd leaves sweaty and happy. Close Enemies did not play it safe, and Culture Room got exactly the kind of set that keeps people talking all the way to the parking lot.

  • VAN HALEN Announces Expanded 40th Anniversary Reissue Of “5150”

March 2026 marks the 40th anniversary of 5150, the first of four albums Van Halen recorded with Sammy Hagar. To commemorate the milestone, Rhino is set to release an expanded edition on March 27 that digs deeper into one of the most important eras in the band’s history.

The release includes a newly remastered version of the original album, a full disc of rare singles edits and B-sides, and a live performance that has never been officially issued. That concert was recorded on August 27, 1986, in New Haven, Connecticut, during the tour supporting the album. The set also features a Blu-ray containing the first high-definition release of the band’s 1986 live video Live Without A Net, along with a promotional video for the track “Dreams”.

A live version of “Summer Nights” taken from Van Halen’s New Haven performance has also surfaced ahead of the release.

The 3CD/Blu-ray/LP configuration of 5150 (Expanded Edition) brings together several key pieces from the period. It includes the remastered studio album, overseen in 2023 by longtime Van Halen engineer Donn Landee for The Collection II box set, a disc compiling rare non-LP edits and mixes, and the full audio from the Live Without A Net home video. The New Haven show, recorded at the New Haven Veteran Memorial Coliseum, has been newly remastered in HD and appears on Blu-ray alongside two music videos.

Originally released in 1986, 5150 became Van Halen’s seventh studio album and the band’s first to reach number one on the Billboard 200. The record has since earned six-times-platinum certification in the United States and delivered several of the group’s best-known songs, including “Dreams”, “Love Walks In”, and “Why Can’t This Be Love”, which climbed to No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100.

The album’s title has its own history. 5150 was named after the California police term for a mentally unstable person, taken from section 5150 of the California Welfare and Institutions Code. The name also refers to guitarist Eddie Van Halen’s home studio, where the band worked on the album and helped shape a defining chapter of their catalog.

You can now pre-order 5150 (Expanded Edition) here.

  • Sammath Godless Arrogance Remaster 2025

When future historians sift through the remains of our civilization, they will recognize Strijd and Godless Arrogance as the defining albums from Sammath, which is fortunate because the latter just got a remaster.

Engineered by Peter Neuber for Ultimate Sonic Warfare Productions, the release features a new take on its characteristic Morbid Angel Covenant-style sound, filling it out a bit for more impact on evil black stereo systems.

You can order the CD through the band or wait for it to hit your local distro. In any case, be prepared for Sammath at its most raw and relentless!

  • STAIND Confirms “Break The Cycle 25th Anniversary Tour” Joined By SEETHER, HOOBASTANK And HINDER

Staind has confirmed plans for a fall tour marking a major milestone in the band’s career. The outing is titled the Break The Cycle 25th Anniversary Tour and focuses on the album that pushed the group into multi-platinum territory and permanent rotation on modern rock radio.

The tour runs for 25 dates and pairs Staind with direct support from Seether, while Hoobastank and Hinder rotate as openers. The lineup brings together four bands tied closely to late-’90s and early-2000s hard rock and post-grunge, creating a package aimed squarely at longtime rock and metal fans.

Backed by Live Nation, the Break The Cycle 25th Anniversary Tour launches in September and travels through major amphitheaters and arenas across the United States and Canada. The run is scheduled to wrap up in Dallas, Texas.

The album delivered the band’s biggest single, “It’s Been Awhile,” which cracked the Billboard Hot 100 top five and became one of the most played songs in modern rock radio history, spending 20 weeks at number one.

Additional singles such as “Fade,” “For You,” “Prince to Pay,” “So Far Away,” and “Right Here” also reached the top of the charts, reinforcing the band’s presence during the peak of the post-grunge era. After a five-year break, Staind reunited in 2019 for festival appearances and a hometown show that was documented on Live: It’s Been Awhile. Over the years, the band earned recognition as a defining force of post-grunge, collecting honors that include Billboard Music Awards and MTV Video Music Awards.

Reflecting on the anniversary, Staind founding member Aaron Lewis shared: “25 years later to be touring, celebrating this album and bringing our music to our fans near and far is something really special. I’m looking forward to going out with these guys. It’s like one big family reunion!”

Guitarist Mike Mushok also commented on the significance of revisiting the record: “Hard to believe it’s been 25 years. I look back on those times as one of the highlights of my career and feel very fortunate to still be doing this. • Multi-Instrumentalist & Chapman Stick Maestro Tom Griesgraber To Release New Soundtrack Album The Split (Music From The Motion Picture Prairie Prophe…

Tom Griesgraber is releasing a new album called The Split. The album is currently available as CD and multi-format download on tomgriesgraber.com, with a wider release planned for March 6 including Bandcamp. The Split is Tom Griesgraber’s soundtrack album from the feature length documentary film Prairie Prophecy. It includes all nineteen tracks from the film, along with two bonus tracks. The music features Tom Griesgraber on Chapman Stick, analog synths and samples. Tom’s California Guitar Trio bandmate Bert Lams also makes a guest appearance on acoustic guitar.

Watch the trailer for The Split:
    https://fb.watch/ETuAVHBc7O/
    https://youtu.be/skNQfhEP0XQ

While Tom Griesgraber is primarily known in progressive rock circles, The Split leans more towards ambient music than much of his other work.

Says Tom, “I tried in writing it to have recurring themes for the subjects being discussed in the movie. The album tracks are in the same order they appear in the movie, with themes and motifs that develop as the album progresses.”

“I tried to also have something thematic with the instrumentation. Generally, when topics being discussed are more about the problems of industrialization the analog synths become more prominent, and when the discussion is more about natural things or the progress scientists are making, the Chapman Stick and orchestral strings are more prominent.”

The film Prairie Prophecy is an engaging exploration of natural systems agriculture and its potential to address some of today’s most urgent environmental challenges. Anchored in the work of The Land Institute, the film traces how perennial farming systems—modeled after native ecosystems—could help restore soil, conserve water, and build resilience in a changing climate. Both educational and hopeful, the program offers a forward-looking perspective on the future of food and land stewardship.

The movie is currently playing at screenings and festivals across the US and will be available to all Public Television stations starting in April 2026.

    About Tom Griesgraber:
Tom Griesgraber picked up the Chapman Stick in 1997 after graduating Summa Cum Laude from Berklee College of Music as a guitarist in 1995. In late 1998 he began performing around San Diego County as a Stick player doing both solo shows and performances with his group Agent 22. In 2000, the group won a year-long local battle of the bands at the Belly Up Tavern, beating about 230 other groups. From there venues started having Tom or the group open for nationals. In 2001, he opened for the California Guitar Trio (CGT) at the Coach House in San Juan Capistrano. The next year Tom attended a Guitar Craft course taught by Robert Fripp with CGT members Bert Lams and Paul Richards assisting. Afterwards, CGT asked him to go on the road as their opener for about 100 shows over the next few years. Bert Lams from the group and Tom started doing duo tours as well and eventually two albums. In 2021, Bert and Paul Richards asked Tom to join CGT as a regular member.

To date, Tom Griesgraber has also released two other solo albums, one with CGT recorded while opening for King Crimson, two with Agent 22, and a duo album with drummer Jerry Marotta (Peter Gabriel) with whom he also toured internationally for several years. He has performed four times for Grammy events, toured as an opener for The Tony Levin Band, opened multiple times for Carl Palmer, Adrian Belew, Steve Morse and the Dixie Dregs, Al Dimeola and Stick Men and opened shows for Bill Bruford’s Earthworks, Andy Summers, Alan Holdsworth, Stanley Jordan, Steve Hackett, Larry Carlton, Steve Lukather, Paul Stanley, Paula Cole, Tuck and Patti, Asia and dozens of others. Tom has also performed on, produced and/or engineered dozens of albums for other artists including two with RyMo (of Slightly Stoopid), CGT, guitarist Peter Pupping and Dübh.

The Chapman Stick, Tom’s primary instrument is a combination of twelve guitar and bass strings, played in both hands with a technique closer to playing piano than guitar. Multiple outputs allow for simultaneous guitar, bass and keyboard-like sounds but with a unique timbre and unusual musical structures.
