Song Review: Scandinavian Jawbreakers “She Was Mine”

Scandinavian Jawbreakers just released their latest single “She Was Mine”, following their previous discography of 3 other songs released since 2025.
The song starts with an old-school folk rock sound as explosive guitar chugs and energetic leads are matched by booming drums and raspy screams that slash through the forefront of the mix. Scandinavian Jawbreakers quickly get the classic rock sound across as high-octane rock ‘n’ roll blasts your eardrums. Just before the 3 minute mark, “She Was Mine” slows its pacing and switches things up with a softer, clean guitar section that soon leads into a shredding guitar solo.
The song’s chorus is catchy with melodic screams and occasional backup chanting that create an anthemic sound that accents the main vocals. From start to finish, Scandinavian Jawbreakers bring an upbeat, dynamic sound that feels like a modern version of classic rock with a folk touch. The band’s latest single “She Was Mine” is available to stream now!

Rock and Roll Hall of Famer dies at 79
Dave Mason, the influential English singer-songwriter and guitarist best known as a founding member of Traffic, has died at the age of 79.
News of Mason’s passing was shared via his official social media channels. The full statement reads:
“It is with deep and profound sadness that we share the news of the passing of Dave Mason. On Sunday, April 19, after cooking an amazing dinner with his beloved wife Winifred, he sat down to take a nap with sweet Star (the maltese) at his feet. He passed away peacefully, in his favorite chair, surrounded by the beautiful Carson Valley that he loved so much. A storybook ending. On his own terms. Which is how he lived his life right up until the end. He leaves a lasting imprint on the soundtrack of our lives and the hearts he has lifted. His legacy will be cherished forever.”
Mason rose to prominence during the late 1960s as a founding member of Traffic. During his time with the band, he wrote and sang lead on some of their most enduring songs, including “Hole in My Shoe” and “Feelin’ Alright?”, the latter becoming a widely covered standard.
Following his departure from Traffic, Mason launched a successful solo career that spanned decades. His catalog includes classics such as “Only You Know and I Know and “Shouldn’t Have Took More Than You Gave.” His songwriting and distinctive guitar work helped shape the sound of blues rock and classic rock radio for generations.
Mason was also known for his extensive collaborations with some of the biggest names in music, including Jimi Hendrix, Paul McCartney, The Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton, Michael Jackson, and Fleetwood Mac, among many others. Often described as an “everywhere man,” his contributions extended far beyond his own recordings.
In 2004, Mason was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a founding member of Traffic, cementing his place among rock music’s most important figures.
In 2025, Mason announced his retirement from touring after six decades on the road, citing ongoing health challenges.
Dave Mason’s influence on rock and blues rock remains profound. From his early days shaping the sound of Traffic to his enduring solo work and collaborations, his music continues to resonate across generations.

Fieldy Finally Breaks Silence: Reveals the Real Reason Behind Korn Exit and Addresses “Retirement” Status

For the first time since stepping away from Korn in 2021, Reginald “Fieldy” Arvizu has provided a definitive account of his exit. While initial statements focused on personal healing, Fieldy now confirms that a fundamental disagreement over touring protocols and vaccination requirements during the 2021 restart was the catalyst for his departure.
The Decision to Step Down
In a newly published interview on the Shady Characters podcast with former L.A.P.D. bandmate Richard Morrill, Fieldy explained that the friction began when the band planned to tour Florida during the height of the pandemic.
“COVID happened. That’s it. I’m like, ‘I’m not going out there,’” Fieldy stated. He clarified that his decision was rooted in his personal stance on vaccination and the overall “weird” energy of the touring industry at that time. “They’re like, ‘We’re going to Florida and all this.’ And I’m like, ‘I’m not going to get vaccinated.’ I’m not going.” This ideological gap led to a hiatus that eventually evolved into years of silence between him and his longtime brothers in the band.
Addressing the “Retired” Label
While Ra Díaz has become the fixture in Korn‘s live lineup, Fieldy’s official role has remained an ongoing mystery for fans. Fieldy addressed his current status with a mix of finality and typical casualness.
“I’m retired from Korn today, but we’ll see what the day brings tomorrow,” he remarked. Despite the years of distance between him and Jonathan Davis, Munky, Head, and Ray Luzier, he insists he views his three-decade tenure with pride rather than regret. “I put in 30 years and now here I am. I’m cool with that.”

Connections with Limp Bizkit and Sam Rivers
Fieldy also touched on the tragic passing of Limp Bizkit bassist Sam Rivers last October. Addressing the fan-led movement that spent months lobbying for Fieldy to join Fred Durst‘s camp, he shared memories of their decades-long friendship.
“It hurt my heart, man. I’m friends with Sam and all those guys,” Fieldy said. He recalled their nightly “bass swap” gag during the 90s and early 2000s, noting that Rivers was an exceptionally skilled player whose finesse was often overlooked by the casual listener.
A New Heavy Project on the Horizon
The signature “Fieldy Sound” isn’t disappearing from the heavy music landscape. He confirmed that he has been actively working on a new project with an impressive rhythm section, including Sepultura drummer Greyson Nekrutman and former Fear Factory bassist Christian Olde Wolbers.
Fieldy describes the new material as “insane,” praising Nekrutman’s ability to blend high-speed jazz techniques with aggressive metal. By naming the COVID-19 pandemic as the primary factor for his Korn exit, Fieldy has finally cleared the air regarding the “personal issues” cited years ago. It appears the rift was less about personal health and more about a fundamental disagreement on how to navigate a changing world. While seeing him and Ray Luzier together at NAMM 2026 recently sparked reunion rumors, his current focus on new collaborations suggests he is content building a legacy outside of the “Korn circle” for the foreseeable future.

Lorna Shore Delivers an Outstanding Performance at Steelhouse Omaha
REVIEW BY DAVID TAYLOR & PHOTOS BY ROBERT A CHADWICK | Go Venue Magazine
On Monday, April 20, lovers of heavy music gravitated towards the Steelhouse in downtown Omaha, NE to witness the return of Lorna Shore to the metro area. Despite it being a Monday, the Steelhouse was packed to unleash all the energy that started the work week.
Signs of the Swarm, a four-piece deathcore band from Pittsburgh, PA, kicked off the night. The lead vocalist, David Simonich, was an absolute unit on stage, with such a commanding presence. He at one point during their set got the crowd to do the wave, which was a fun moment in between songs. Production wise, their lighting was kinda overbearing at first, really blinding, but I think they got it under control. And they also got the crowd surfers going for the night. Solid opening set from Signs of the Swarm. Check out their latest album that came out last year, To Rid Myself of Truth.
Paleface Swiss from Zürich, Switzerland, another deathcore four-piece band, was the direct support. I really enjoyed their set. They were heavy as hell. It was like if Slipknot (they even did the “jump the eff up” thing Slipknot does) and Slayer had a baby in Switzerland. Lead vocalist Marc “Zelli” Zellweger did these long vocal runs that were impressive. They really got the pit going for their set. At one point, Zelli said “We are the reason for the holes in the Swiss cheese.” That got a cackle out of me. I hope they keep on coming back to Omaha because the crowd loved them. Check out their latest releases, Cursed and The Wilted EP.
Finally, “Total Eclipse of the Heart” by Bonnie Tyler started playing, so you knew it was Lorna Shore’s turn to hit the stage. This was my second time seeing this New Jersey deathcore band, having seen them open up for Gojira and Mastodon a couple years ago and they crushed it. I can understand why they have such a loyal following, just by the amount of their shirts people had on and just overall great vibes from the crowd when they performed. They had six video boards projecting these incredible visuals, as well as some lyrics for the audience to sing along to when appropriate. Will Ramos continues to be one of the best vocalists in metal today, just giving his all on the stage. It was awesome to see drummer Austin Archey, an incredible player, use two bass drums in his setup. Seems like I haven’t been seeing drummers using two bass drums, so that was cool. There was a huge wall of death in the pit for “Sun//Eater”. They played a good chunk off their latest album, I Feel the Everblack Festering Within Me, which goes to show they are really proud of these songs. They ended their set with an encore, performing their well known song, “To the Hellfire”. I’m so glad a band like Lorna Shore can pack a venue like Steelhouse, which holds just over 1,000. That was never heard of ten years ago, where a band like that could only play 500-700 cap rooms. It really goes to show that if you have a loyal following nationwide, the fans will show up and in droves. I’m excited to see where they go next with their success.

Keeping it in the Family: Black Label Society Extends 2026 Tour with Zakk Sabbath and Dark Chapel

The “Berzerker” is back for more. Following a successful spring run, Black Label Society has officially extended the ‘American Crusade’ tour into the summer and fall of 2026. The trek remains a “familial affair,” with the entire BLS lineup performing multiple sets per night as they support their powerhouse new album, Engines Of Demolition.
What is the lineup for the ‘American Crusade’ Summer/Fall tour?
The upcoming leg continues the band’s unique “all-hands-on-deck” strategy. Rather than hiring outside openers, the members of Black Label Society occupy every slot on the bill:
- Black Label Society: Headlining in support of their 12th studio album, Engines Of Demolition.
- Zakk Sabbath: Direct support featuring Zakk Wylde, JD DeServio, and Jeff Fabb performing classic Black Sabbath cuts.
- Dark Chapel: The tour opener, fronted by BLS guitarist/vocalist Dario Lorina.
Get your tickets here.
While Zakk Wylde himself isn’t in Dark Chapel, the rest of the BLS rhythm section and guitarist Dario Lorina are working overtime to deliver nearly three hours of high-gain worship every single night.

The tour is the primary vehicle for Black Label Society’s latest studio effort, Engines Of Demolition, which arrived on March 27, 2026, via MNRK Heavy.
The album—Zakk’s first since 2021—was written during gaps in his relentless schedule with the Pantera celebration tour. It has already yielded the hit singles “Name in Blood,” “The Gallows,” and “Lord Humungus,” along with “Ozzy’s Song,” a heartfelt tribute to the Prince of Darkness.

Loaded Radio Insight: The Zakk Wylde Work Ethic
Even without Zakk playing in all three bands, the physical toll of this tour is immense. Between headlining with BLS and performing a full set of Sabbath classics, Wylde and his rhythm section are effectively playing two full concerts a night. This “familial” tour model is a brilliant move—it ensures a cohesive sound for the fans while keeping the entire BLS camp employed and active during a year that also includes major global dates for Pantera.
