Where they from?
Chicago, IL. The Stanley Cup Playoffs started this past weekend. My pick is the Dallas Stars to beat the Tampa Bay Lightning in the final. So glad they both lost their opening games of their series, makes me feel really confident in my picks!
Why the hype?
This duo does a wonderful blend of goregrind with neocrust while retaining an excellent sense of humor, which in today’s day and age, feels like an absolute miracle. The gore-soaked blasts and gurgles are augmented by these hauntingly catchy melodic flourishes that would make His Hero Is Gone rather proud. If you like D-beat in any sense of the term you should get hip to this band as they love to churn out rather punishing tornadoes of it.
Latest release? Split w/ Toughguy, self-released. One year at Ozzfest I got into an argument with my friend over the proper pronunciation of the word ‘behemoth.’ Turns out he was right and my Polish immigrant Mom had been pronouncing it wrong all these years. Twenty years later he’s a Wall Street banker and I’m sitting here writing about grindcore. No ragrets.
The Philadelphia duo Hooky have worked with some of the top names in modern shoegaze, including They Are Gutting A Body Of Water and Winter. Today, we get a fresh chance to hear them on their own. Monday night, with minimal notice, Hooky released World Music, a new 14-song album. These tracks conjure a woozy,…
The ‘Boy Meets World’ star brings heavy metal trivia to the mainstream, stumping pop-focused staffers with 1999 nu-metal classics.
TL;DR:
Danielle Fishel (Topanga Lawrence) went viral for testing American Idol crew members on Slipknot’s “Eyeless” lyrics during Rock & Roll Hall of Fame week. While most staffers failed, WWE star The Miz nailed the challenge. The moment coincided with the 2026 Rock Hall inductee reveal, featuring Iron Maiden.
April 21, 2026 — In a world where 90s nostalgia and heavy metal rarely collide, Danielle Fishel is bridging the gap. The actress and director, known globally as Topanga Lawrence from Boy Meets World, has solidified her status as a high-tier “maggot” after a viral backstage video from the set of American Idol began circulating this week.
Fishel, a long-documented fan of Iowa’s favorite masked sons, took advantage of “Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Week” at the show to hunt for fellow metalheads among the production staff. Clad in a vintage Slipknot shirt, Fishel’s mission was simple: find one person who could finish the most iconic line from the band’s 1999 debut.
The core of the viral moment centered on the track “Eyeless” from Slipknot’s self-titled LP. Fishel repeatedly approached staffers with the opening of the famous refrain: “You can’t see California…”
For most of the pop and country-focused production crew, the prompt was met with confusion. However, the intersection of metal and sports entertainment saved the day. Professional wrestling icon The Miz, who was on set for the festivities, didn’t miss a beat, immediately shouting back: “…without Marlon Brando’s eyes!”
This interaction isn’t just a “posed” celebrity moment. Fishel has been a vocal supporter of the genre for decades, frequently appearing at festivals and using her platform to highlight heavy music culture.
Connection to the 2026 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductions
The timing of Fishel’s trivia challenge wasn’t accidental. It coincided with the official live reveal of the 2026 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction class on April 13. While Slipknot was not among the names called this year, the 2026 class is being hailed as one of the “heaviest” in the institution’s history, finally giving a nod to the foundations of British heavy metal.

Why “Topanga” is a vital voice for modern metal
At Loaded Radio, we’ve seen plenty of “tourist” fans in Hollywood, but Danielle Fishel is the real deal. In an era where AI-generated “news” often lacks the soul of the scene, having a high-profile figure like Fishel authentically grilling mainstream staffers on “Eyeless” lyrics provides a genuine “Experience” signal that both readers and search engines crave.
The fact that a WWE legend was the only one to pass the test proves a long-standing theory in our community: the bond between professional wrestling and heavy metal remains unbreakable. As Iron Maiden prepares for their induction later this year, seeing metal culture permeate sets like American Idol suggests the genre’s influence is only growing in 2026.
Hardcore punk outfit A Wilhelm Scream released their latest album Cheap Heat earlier this year and now they’ve released a single and music video from that album titled “Fell Off”. And while the song’s overflowing with energy, it’s the music video directed by Arlo Dean Cook that really shows how energetic the band’s live shows can get.
Filmed during the band’s Australian tour last month, the video highlights how crazy A Wilhelm Scream’s shows can become. Bodies flying all over the place, excited fans screaming out the lyrics, the band going absolutely bananas. Looks like one hell of a time.
Judging by the band’s statement on the single/video, it absolutely was a great time.
“We’re super stoked to unleash our brand new video for ‘Fell Off,’ filmed at our sold-out show in Melbourne, Australia last month at Stay Gold. Australia has welcomed us with open arms for years now and has always shown us a lot of love, so we thought it was only fitting to film a live video in one of the rowdiest places we could play! Cheers to everyone who came out to the show, for the stage dives and for your energy, we appreciate you and hope everyone enjoys the video! A little taste of the AWS live show experience…”
Though the album’s already out, you still have a chance to go crazy like the fans in that video, as A Wilhelm Scream have a number of tour dates lined up for the rest of 2026. You can find the full list of tour dates below.

The Casket Kids Unleash “Through Death,” A Blood Soaked Blend Of Metal, Hardcore, And Punk From Upcoming Album Black Miasma
Huntsville, AL – April 24, 2026 – Huntsville’s own underground horror merchants The Casket Kids return with a brand new slab of chaos titled “Through Death,” the second single from their highly anticipated upcoming album Black Miasma.
This time around, the band digs even deeper into the dark side of myth and consequence, delivering a track that warns of the horrors of necromancy, the price of forbidden rites, and what happens when the dead do not stay quiet.
“Through Death” is a fierce fusion of metal, hardcore, and punk energy, built for fans who like their music raw, loud, and a little dangerous. It is the kind of track that does not just play in your speakers, it crawls around in your head after.
“Through Death, They Live!”
That is the band’s own chilling declaration behind the single, and it sets the tone perfectly for what The Casket Kids are building with Black Miasma .
The band continues to sharpen their identity with a sound that pulls from old-school rebellion and horror soaked theatrics, carving out a lane that feels both familiar and twisted in all the right ways.
FFO: The Misfits , Ramones , Black Flag , Pentagram
ABOUT THE BAND
The Casket Kids are: Christian Youngblood on vocals Paul “Tokin” Dupont on guitar Johnny “Decay” Perna on bass Brennan “Pepper” Persing on drums
Born out of the Huntsville underground, the band has already carved a reputation for blending horror imagery with punk attitude and heavy hitting metal aggression. Their debut album SHI opened the door. Black Miasma looks like the one kicking it off the hinges.
Produced with the same raw intensity that defines their sound, The Casket Kids continue pushing forward without cleaning anything up for comfort. This is grit, distortion, and storytelling with teeth.
