  • Joe Bonamassa and Josh Smith join Marc Broussard on “You’ll Be Sorry”

Soul singer Marc Broussard has released his new studio album Chance Worth Taking, marking his first full collection of original blues and soul material. The album is out now via KTBA Records, the label founded by Joe Bonamassa.

Coinciding with the release, Broussard has also shared the latest single and video, “You’ll Be Sorry,” which features Bonamassa and Josh Smith. The track leans into a blues shuffle style, with Bonamassa contributing slide guitar while Broussard delivers the vocal lead. “You’ll be sorry when I’m gone / When they tell my story, you’ll be nothing but a pawn / I’m hitting the road and driving till dawn,” Broussard sings. He added, “We wrote that one in the studio. Joe inspired the concept, and later, I went back to craft the lyrics. I wanted to flex my lyrical and melodic chops.”

“You’ll Be Sorry” follows several previously released singles from the album, including “I’m Going Home,” “Trying to Do Right,” “No More,” and “Fever,” the latter of which also features Smith.

Chance Worth Taking was produced by Bonamassa, Smith, and Calvin Turner. Bonamassa appears on ten tracks and co-wrote three songs, while Smith contributed to four tracks as both a co-writer and performer. Turner co-wrote ten songs on the album and contributed to its arrangements.

The album explores a range of blues and soul styles while maintaining Broussard’s signature vocal approach. Tracks include big-band influenced numbers, blues ballads, and New Orleans-inspired material, with contributions from Reese Wynans and Trombone Shorty among others.

“I think blues and soul are born from the same place,” Broussard says, “Memphis and the Delta are natural bedfellows. This album represents a transition for me, but while creating it, I never felt afraid to take a chance. The material is so good that I never saw it as a risk.”

Broussard will support the release with a U.S. spring tour beginning April 23 in Huntingdon, Tennessee, and includes a performance at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival on May 1, along with multiple headlining dates across the country.

    Good Day Noir Family,
Blindness & Light return with “Our Man From Fife,” and the first cycle of chords sets a buoyant tone.

The bass moves with a playful bounce, creating a danceable groove that recalls early R.E.M. in spirit, though filtered through a fresher lens.

The rhythm section locks in quickly, and the track begins to sway with effortless momentum.

What stands out is the melodic phrasing. The lyrics flow in steady succession, yet the vocal line leaves generous space between notes. That airiness gives the song a dreamy quality. The melody floats just above the groove rather than pressing against it. The atmosphere feels light and expansive.

Subtle pads enter and widen the harmonic field. They don’t dominate the arrangement. They add depth and warmth. This layering gives the single a sense of openness that fits perfectly with early summer moods. You can almost picture a highway stretching toward the horizon, windows down, wind rushing in.

The rhythm invites movement, while the melody encourages reflection. That duality gives the song an emotional dimension. There’s nostalgia in its tone, yet it avoids sentimentality. The balance remains controlled.

The backing vocals enrich the chorus. Secondary voices blend seamlessly, reinforcing the hook without overshadowing the lead. These harmonies elevate the refrain and help maintain that dreamy intensity throughout.

“Our Man From Fife” carries a subtle urge to travel. It sparks the desire to grab your keys and disappear for a while. The energy never spikes aggressively. It sustains a steady lift that keeps you engaged from beginning to end.

Blindness & Light deliver a single that feels nostalgic and forward-looking. It’s melodic, rhythmic, and full of open-air possibility.

Our Man From Fife is Blindness & Light’s Single Out Now

Blindness & Light is an informal, borderless post-punk collective that brings together musicians from across the UK and beyond, united by a shared love of creative freedom and independence. Rather than operating as a fixed lineup, the group thrives on a fluid structure that allows members to collaborate, evolve, and reshape their sound without constraints.

At the core of the project is Colin M. Potter, who contributes vocals, songwriting, and guitar, alongside Helen Reynolds, whose ethereal voice adds depth and contrast. They are joined by Mel Dopazo on bass and Glenn Welman on drums, with additional vocals from Merseyside artist Mike Ryan. Together, they form a dynamic ensemble rooted in instinct, trust, and a refusal to conform to traditional band structures.
