  • Video Premiere: Goetia – ‘Corpse Candle’

D.C. death dealers Goetia will assert their dominance as one of the strongest up-and-coming American death metal bands next month when they release Mortuary Cult, their first proper full-length. The trio shared the album’s title track when Mortuary Cult was announced two weeks ago and now they’re offering a second preview in the form of “Corpse Candle.”

The new song crawls and lurches before it blasts, displaying the full spectrum of Goetia’s sound and abilities. Guitarist Demir Soyer’s riffs cut straight to the chase, while the rhythm section of drummer Nadia Tydings-Lynch (Blood Monolith, Deliriant Nerve) and bassist/vocalist Matt Scott (ex-Perpetuated) hold down the core.

“‘Corpse Candle’ was written as a direct follow up to ‘Mortuary Cult,’” Scott tells Decibel. “The idea was that if ‘Mortuary Cult’ depicts the living seeking out the dead, ‘Corpse Candle’ would be about the dead seeking the living. Corpse candles are a form of ghost lights, which are said to beckon the living towards their death. This phenomenon is often seen in the heat of summer nights in the south, and this track was written from the perspective of someone who is unable to resist the attraction of their glow. The deliberate slower pace was meant to contrast with ‘Mortuary Cult’ musically, to mimic the inversion of the lyrical theme.”

Hear “Corpse Candle” below, as well as its sister track, “Mortuary Cult.” Mortuary Cult (the album) is out on June 12 via Carbonized in the US, Europe and internationally.

  • Track Premiere: L.M.I. – ‘Feelin’ Tired’

Still feelin’ fired up from that Kylesa set at Metal & Beer Fest earlier this month? Us too, which is why you can listen to “Feelin’ Tired,” the new offering from Philly sludge punks L.M.I.

Formed more than a decade ago in the suburbs of Philadelpjhia, L.M.I have shifted through a few sounds before finding themselves in the heavy, sludgy form they are today. “Feelin’ Tired” begins in a pretty standard format before slipping into a hazy sound marked by discordant lead guitar and a female voiceover. Just when it seems like the song is over, L.M.I. come back to mop things up with a nasty breakdown.

“We are excited to finally be able to announce our new EP, L.M.I. V and the first single ‘Feelin’ Tired,’ L.M.I. tell Decibel. “‘Feelin’ Tired’ displays how we have been experimenting with our sound over the past two years. The song itself is about being physically and mentally exhausted but not having any time to slow down and being forced to continue with life at this pace regardless of what’s going on.”

is out June 19 on HPGD.

  • The Strokes’ Albert Hammond Jr. Denies He’s Pretending To Like The Band’s New Album

Reality Awaits, the first new album from the Strokes in six years, is due out next month. Early singles “Going Shopping” and “Falling Out Of Love” have set off fiery debates within the fan base, partially because of Julian Casablancas’ choice to sing through Auto-Tune. I don’t object to Auto-Tune any more than I object to distortion pedals, but the new songs have not necessarily bolstered my confidence about Reality Awaits.

  • GODS & PUNKS ANNOUNCE NEW ALBUM “A SHRINE BY THE SEA” OUT JULY 3RD, 2026 VIA ELECTRIC VALLEY RECORDS – @thebeast

    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
GODS & PUNKS ANNOUNCE NEW ALBUM A SHRINE BY THE SEA OUT JULY 3RD, 2026 VIA ELECTRIC VALLEY RECORDS

Brazilian heavy psych quartet Gods & Punks return with their most ambitious release to date, unveiling the sprawling new album A Shrine By The Sea , arriving July 3rd, 2026 through Electric Valley Records on digital platforms and vinyl.
Known for blending crushing stoner riffs, doom-soaked atmosphere, and progressive songwriting into immersive sonic journeys, Gods & Punks continue pushing deeper into uncharted waters with a record designed to be experienced as a complete voyage.
    Formed by:
    Alexandre C. – Vocals
    Pedro C. – Bass
    Rodrigo B. – Guitars
    Gabriel S. – Drums
the band has steadily built a reputation within the underground heavy scene through six studio albums that fuse psychedelic exploration with thunderous groove and emotional weight.
    A TWO-TRACK ODYSSEY

A Shrine By The Sea is structured around two monumental compositions:

    “The Lighthouse” (Side A)
    “Poseidon” (Side B)
Each track runs exactly 21 minutes and 12 seconds, creating a vinyl experience rooted in classic album-oriented storytelling while embracing modern accessibility.
To make the release streaming-friendly, both compositions were also divided into four individual “waves,” allowing listeners to experience the album in chapters without losing the larger narrative arc.
The first single, “The Lighthouse – Second Wave,” was released alongside the album pre-order on May 1st. The second single, “Poseidon – Third Wave,” arrives June 19th ahead of the full album release.
    BAND STATEMENT

“We’ve always wanted to do an album like this and, after releasing 5 full-length albums, the time was right. A Shrine By The Sea features two tracks we worked really hard on, and that reflect different approaches to our sound. This is, perhaps, the record we felt most proud of, after recording.”
    FOR FANS OF

Fans of towering riffs, hypnotic atmosphere, and expansive songwriting in the spirit of Black Sabbath , Elder , and Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats will find plenty to sink into throughout A Shrine By The Sea .

  • SWEETLAND REIGNITE ATTENTION ON PARIAH EP — OUT NOW PSYCHEDELIC DOOM RELEASE RETURNS TO THE SPOTLIGHT – @thebeast

    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
SWEETLAND REIGNITE ATTENTION ON PARIAH EP — OUT NOW PSYCHEDELIC DOOM RELEASE RETURNS TO THE SPOTLIGHT

Sweetland are circling back to the underground with renewed focus on their 2025 release Pariah EP , a dense slab of Psychedelic Doom Metal that continues to earn attention well beyond its initial drop.
Originally released November 4, 2025, Pariah EP is not a comeback or a reinvention. It’s a reminder. Heavy, slow, and deliberately unpolished, the record sits in that thick space between collapse and clarity, pulling influence from the crushing dynamics of Melvins , the hypnotic weight of Monolord , and the expansive, genre bending scope often associated with Devin Townsend .
Now, with fresh promotion and renewed push through the underground circuit, Sweetland are giving the EP a second life, aiming it at new listeners who may have missed it the first time around.
Recorded, mixed, and mastered by Zach Thomas, the production stays intentionally raw and immersive, letting the riffs breathe, drag, and collapse exactly how they were meant to.
    Band Statement

“We never saw Pariah as something that had an expiration date. Doom doesn’t age out. It just waits. This is us pulling it back into the light for the people who weren’t there the first time.”
