Steve Morse’s resume, which includes long stints with The Dixie Dregs, Kansas, Deep Purple, and with his solo group, The Steve Morse Band, says it all. But you still can’t figure out what he’s putting down; just look at the veteran guitarist’s retrospective feelings toward the guitar. “I knew, even as a kid, that I could make a living,” Morse tells ClassicRockHistory.com. “I also knew that it would be hard… I loved it.” When it comes to the music biz, “hard” doesn’t begin to describe it. Really, no matter how you slice it, it’s a life that’s hard to describe
Southern California quartet Death Lens have always been a great band but right now they’re operating in their prime. Coming out in exactly one month on April 24 is What’s Left Now?, their first album since 2024’s Cold World and their second for Epitaph Records. Their most fully realised music yet, the songs on What’s […]
Adelaide alternative metal quintet alt. share dark new single They’ve Always Lived In The Castle, out everywhere now via Resist Records (AU) and SharpTone Records (ROW). Produced, mixed and mastered by Callan Orr (Dream On Dreamer, Hands Like Houses), They’ve Always Lived In The Castle expands on the thematic world the band began building on […]
Earlier this month, the Pussycat Dolls announced a big reunion tour and released “Club Song.” The lineup consists of Nicole Scherzinger, Kimberly Wyatt, and Ashley Roberts, and the singers froze when they were asked on The Today Show about why the other original members weren’t participating. Now, Jessica Sutta says she wasn’t included because she’s MAGA.
Australia… you thought they forgot! They did not. They waited. They sharpened their claws. They let the forest grow wilder, darker, hungrier. Three years is a blink in eternity, yet long enough for the trees to learn your secrets. Now they return not as visitors, but as conquerors. Bring your torches. Bring your madness. Bring […]
As The Waterboys prepare to make their long-awaited return to Australia and New Zealand this May — their first tour in over a decade — we caught up with the incomparable Mike Scott to talk about the new record, the enduring spirit of live performance, and what fans can expect when one of the world’s most electrifying bands hits our shores once again.
We explore the new album ‘Life, Death and Dennis Hopper’ and talk about Mike’s contribution to the new Johnny Thunders tribute record ‘I Only Wrote This Song For You’ — a heartfelt tribute to the legendary guitarist.
Critically acclaimed as one of the best live acts on the planet, the 2025 incarnation of the band features double keyboard firepower from Brother Paul (Memphis) and James Hallawell (Cornwall), anchored by a formidable Irish rhythm section of Aongus Ralston on bass and Eamon Ferris on drums.
Together, they bring to life material spanning The Waterboys’ storied catalogue — from the sweeping “big music” of The Whole of the Moon and the classic This Is The Sea, through the rootsy magic of Fisherman’s Blues, to the bold, cinematic sweep of their latest album.
As Mike himself puts it: “The Waterboys live for the experience of playing, of feeling our music evolve and grow with each consecutive concert… How will the music change? What will happen that’s never happened before?”
