Good Day Noir Family,
OpCritical deliver “USA” with a direct strike, opening on chords that echo the grit of ‘90s grunge.

The band quickly avoids nostalgia by shaping that influence into something immediate and purposeful. The guitar tone carries weight; it sets the emotional ground for what follows.

The arrangement pulls back at the right moment, stripping the track down to give full space to the lyrics. This choice reveals a band with a clear agenda. The words land with precision, addressing the current tension within America and urging awareness rather than offering comfort. The vocal delivery stays sharp and intentional, reinforcing the sense that every line carries weight.

Yet, the song does not rely solely on message. The rhythm section drives the track forward with a steady, engaging pulse, while subtle tempo shifts prevent any sense of stagnation. The verses introduce a more restrained, almost sly tone, creating contrast with the bursts of heavier guitar that follow. Each transition feels earned, keeping the listener alert and involved.

Those guitar interjections inject energy at key moments, acting like sparks that reignite the track’s momentum. When the chorus arrives, the band fully unleashes its intensity. The guitars expand, the melody opens up, and the hook locks in with immediate impact. Still, the band maintains control, ensuring the chorus remains focused rather than overwhelming.

Notably, the chorus carries a call to action. It pushes the idea that change requires urgency, that silence is no longer an option. This thematic clarity strengthens the track, giving it a sense of purpose that goes beyond sound alone. On the other hand, the melodic construction keeps the message accessible, balancing confrontation with memorability.

Beyond that, the blend of influences stands out. The track draws from ‘90s grunge while channeling the raw edge of early 2000s punk. This combination creates a hybrid identity that feels grounded yet current.

A well-structured and driven piece, “USA” shows a band unafraid to confront reality while delivering a track that remains engaging from start to finish.
