Gus G. is gearing up to drop his fifth solo record, Steel Burner, on 04/24 via Metal Department Records. The Greek guitar maestro has today unveiled the official video for “Nothing Can Break Me,” a collaboration with heavy metal royalty Doro Pesch that’s been a long time coming for both artists.
The track is exactly what it sounds like: a full-throttle metal anthem built around perseverance, powered by Doro‘s unmistakable voice and Gus‘s signature blend of precision and fire.
Doro didn’t hold back on her enthusiasm for the pairing. “It was awesome to work with Gus,” she said. “We’ve been friends for a long time. He’s such an amazing guitar player. We always planned to do something together, and now it has finally happened. I’m totally excited about the song.”
Gus was equally effusive. “Doro is an icon, the metal queen. Everybody knows that. Having the opportunity to collaborate with her on a track is something I have long wished for. ‘Nothing Can Break Me’ is a powerful metal anthem about perseverance. I’m really proud of this one.”
Steel Burner arrives five years after Gus G.‘s last solo outing and marks a deliberate return to his own vision after years of relentless post-pandemic touring. The album walks the line between pure instrumental showcase and vocal-driven collaboration — and the guest list is stacked. Matt Barlow (of Iced Earth and Ashes of Ares) appears on “Dancing With Death,” tackling addiction through an epic metal lens. Dino Jelusick (Whitesnake, Trans-Siberian Orchestra) lends his voice to “No One Has to Know,” a hard rock dig at social media artifice. And Ronnie Romero (Rainbow, Vandenberg, Michael Schenker Group) — whose relationship with Gus was forged on a recent joint world tour — contributes to two tracks.

Gus framed the album’s direction in his own words: “This is my first solo album release in five years. As I’ve been pretty busy in the post-pandemic world with heavy touring, I always had the idea to put out another solo album at some point. This time around, I felt I wanted the best of both worlds — being able to explore guitar instrumental music, but also collaborate with singers I love and am a fan of.”
The album’s title, fittingly, traces back to an industrial machine used to shape metal. That commission became the album’s cornerstone and ultimately its name.
Production duties were handled by Dennis Ward (Helloween, Pink Cream 69), delivering a clean, punchy result that does justice to both the instrumental depth and the vocal performances across the record.

The book will also tell the tale of his battle against cancer.
The post Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine’s New Memoir ‘In My Darkest Hour’ Due In September appeared first on Theprp.com.
Fresh from the triumph of their final studio album, Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine has announced details of a new memoir.
Due out on September 8 via Da Capo, the 240-page book documents his journey from his 2019 diagnosis with squamous cell carcinoma to his recovery – though as he notes, it also goes so much further beyond that… “One of most harrowing experiences of my adult life has been my seven-year journey through cancer treatment and onward into remission,” Dave shares. “This story is considerably more than just go to the doctor, get diagnosed, get treatment and hopefully I live happily ever after. This was a journey of me saving myself, staying alive, keeping my family together, and continuing to make music through it all.”
Meanwhile, a synopsis describes how In My Darkest Hour also looks at his return to the studio, as Dave “chronicles how his diagnosis inspired him to take up the pen and guitar pick, going from radiation and chemotherapy appointments straight into hours-long recording sessions, resulting in Megadeth’s 16th studio album, The Sick, The Dying… And The Dead!
“Along the way, Mustaine details how confronting his own mortality brought him closer to his family, taught him how to ask for help, strengthened his faith, and challenged the vulnerability of his art.
“Filled with perseverance, hope and the determination to never let the bastards grind you down, In My Darkest Hour is a masterful portrait of a Dave Mustaine that the world has yet to see, and serves as a moving reminder that even our most invincible heroes are human.”
In last year’s Kerrang! Cover Story, the 64-year-old spoke about bringing the band to an end in the future, and their plans to keep playing shows for a good while yet.
“We’re easily talking about touring for another three to five years,” he said. “And if we’re going to be doing it for that long then, shit, I’ll be looking at the birthday I don’t even want to think about!”
With that birthday in mind, though, he stressed that his main focus was just making sure he was as well as can be: “I have to remember that people live and they die. And I need to take good care of myself.”

Jamie Bower has shared a new piece of music, showcasing his knack for crafting a beautiful, triumphant ballad.

The song is titled ‘Waiting For Your Love’, and is as spine-tingling as you would expect it to be. It’s actually a track made in collaboration with Jamie’s brother, Sam, with the last time the two worked together being in their band, COUNTERFEIT.
Well, that sibling and creative connection is on show here in abundance, as beautiful pianos and vibrant drums sit below a vocal full of hope, wonder and desire. The sort of inspirational piece that makes the heart shimmer, a reminder that you are enough, and that there is somebody out there who knows that and wants to share in your splendour with you.
It’s also a reminder that Jamie can put on any musical hat he wants and make it his own. A spellbinding, sensational return to the studio, and possibly the first piece of a special new chapter.
Don’t just take our word for it, have a listen to it for yourself:
It’s the first music from Jamie in almost two years, following on from the dark decadence of ‘The Witch Of Bodmin Moor’:
Which followed on from ‘Home’, which sounds a lot like this:
