Iron Maiden have confirmed they will not be attending their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, scheduled for November 14 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. The reason is so entirely on-brand it barely needs explaining: they’ll be on tour in Australia. The band plays Melbourne on November 13 and Sydney on November 15, bracketing the ceremony on both sides without so much as a gap in the schedule.

Manager Rod Smallwood made the band’s position clear in a statement to Billboard:  “As the most observant have already noticed, the band will be on tour in Australia around the November date of the induction ceremony for the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in Los Angeles. In accepting, Iron Maiden made it very clear to the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame that the fans always come first and that the shows will, of course, go on.

“We would like to assure all our fans in Australasia that the Australian and New Zealand dates will remain unaffected and we look forward to bringing the ‘Run For Your Lives’ tour to them on the penultimate stop of our 50th-anniversary celebrations,” Smallwood added.

Iron Maiden are among the performers inductees in the Rock Hall’s class of 2026, alongside Phil Collins, Billy Idol, Joy Division/New Order, Oasis, Sade, Luther Vandross, and Wu-Tang Clan. The musicians being honored are Bruce Dickinson, Steve Harris, Nicko McBrain, Adrian Smith, Dave Murray, and Janick Gers, along with former members Dennis Stratton, Paul Di’Anno, Blaze Bayley, and Clive Burr.

When the induction was first announced, Smallwood set the tone: “We’d like to thank the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame for including us (and former members who were all part of our story) in the 2026 roll call of inductees. Iron Maiden have always been about our relationship with our fans above anything else, including awards and industry accolades. However, having said that, it’s always nice to be recognized and honored for any achievements within the music industry too!”

He added: “It also seems appropriate for the band to be inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame this year as we continue our 50th-anniversary celebrations with our ‘Run For Your Lives’ world tour visiting the Americas and beyond. We would also like to congratulate our fellow 2026 inductees and extend our gratitude as ever to our fans for their loyalty, perseverance, and support for over 50 years now! See you all, somewhere on tour.”

What makes all of this particularly enjoyable is the backstory. In 2018, Dickinson famously called the Rock Hall “an utter and complete load of bollocks” during a spoken-word show in Australia, insisting the institution is “run by a bunch of sanctimonious bloody Americans who wouldn’t know rock and roll if it hit them in the face.” He later clarified that his comments had been taken out of context, but didn’t exactly walk them back: “I’m really happy we’re not there, and I would never want to be there. If we’re ever inducted, I will refuse — they won’t bloody be having my corpse in there. Rock and roll music does not belong in a mausoleum in Cleveland. It’s a living, breathing thing, and if you put it in a museum, then it’s dead. It’s worse than horrible, it’s vulgar.”

Harris, for his part, has always been characteristically measured on the subject. “I don’t really think about it, to be honest. I think awards are things that are nice to have when you get them, but it’s not something you’re really striving for — it’s not what it’s about,” he told Rock Talk With Mitch Lafon. “It’s never been about that. It’s always been about just trying to make good music and go out and play good live shows, and that’s it, really.”

That Iron Maiden‘s entry into the Hall of Fame comes mid-tour, mid-anniversary, with Megadeth in tow and Australia as the excuse, is perhaps the most Maiden way this could have gone. The ceremony airs on ABC and Disney+ in December. The band will be soundchecking in Brisbane.

After more than 40 eventful years of existence, Canada’s progressive sci-fi metal innovators Voïvod return with Symphonique, a special live release together with the Quebec Symphony Orchestra, set for release on June 5, 2026, worldwide via Century Media Records.

Symphonique, which functions like an epic piece of cinema, showcases Voïvod’s pioneering futuristic metal with the strains of a symphony orchestra, and features a carefully curated Voïvod best-of setlist composed of 12 songs across 73 minutes, recorded live on June 4th, 2025, at the Grand Théâtre in Québec City, Canada.

Offering a first taste of Simphonique,’ the band has shared the first single, “Forgotten In Space (Symphonique),” alongside an official visualizer curated by Cloud Motion Design.

Voïvod’s drummer and founding member Michel “Away” Langevin comments: “This live album with the Quebec Symphony Orchestra is a longtime dream turned reality. On April 1, Nevermore returned to the stage with a refreshed lineup, playing a sold-out show at IF Performance Hall Beşiktaş in Istanbul, Turkey. The performance marked the start of a new chapter led by original members Jeff Loomis on guitar and Van Williams on drums, joined by vocalist Berzan Önen, guitarist Jack Cattoi, and bassist Semir Özerkan.

The band has now shared a live video for “Born” from that show, explaining: “A mix of board audio with footage taken by crew and fans. Special thanks to the following friends for helping put this together, especially Berkecan who was on point for all of it.”

While reconnecting with their past, Nevermore are moving forward with clear intent. The band is set to join Judas Priest this September for the final seven dates of the Faithkeepers Tour, bringing the new lineup to a wider audience. Complete dates and tickets are available here.

Formed after the end of Sanctuary, Nevermore built a reputation on tight musicianship and a darker, more technical edge. Starting with their self-titled debut in 1995, the band developed its sound further on records like Dead Heart In A Dead World and This Godless Endeavor, gaining a strong following within modern metal.

Now, with Jeff Loomis and Van Williams at the core, the group is pushing ahead again. Reflecting on how things came together, Van said: “It’s been brewing for quite a while and has just started to manifest itself into the now. So what better time is there to kick things off than now?”

New material is already in progress. Van offered a glimpse into the direction, saying: “If the new music had to be described by one word, that would have to be delicious. Because it’s so good it’s gonna leave you hungry for more.” The band is balancing time between writing and preparing for upcoming shows, keeping both the legacy material and future releases in focus.

Over the years, Nevermore has included a range of notable players, including guitarists Pat O’Brien, Tim Calvert, Steve Smyth, and Chris Broderick, each contributing to the band’s evolving sound. Bassist Jim Sheppard also played a major role during the group’s most recognized period.

After the band originally split, Jeff Loomis stayed active with solo records Zero Order Phase and Plains Of Oblivion, co-founded Conquering Dystopia, and spent several years with Arch Enemy, appearing on albums such as Will To Power and Deceivers. Van Williams continued working through projects like Ashes Of Ares and Ghost Ship Octavius. Vocalist Warrel Dane remained active until his death in 2017, leaving behind a catalog that still resonates with fans.

As Nevermore moves into 2026, the focus is on delivering both familiar material and new music with the same level of intensity. Loomis summed it up: “Van and I are super passionate about the band. What we deliver and bring back to the audience is us wanting to hear those old tracks again just as much as the fans. We obviously want our old fans there every step of the way, but also look forward to meeting a new generation of fans as well.”

Foghat and Nazareth are joining forces for a U.S. tour kicking off April 30, bringing together two bands that helped shape the core of classic rock. Both acts emerged from the British blues-rock wave and built long-running careers on a straightforward, hard-driving sound.

Foghat drummer Roger Earl commented: “Foghat and Nazareth! What a great show that’s going to be! Two rock and roll bands that have done lots of shows together over the years. We haven’t worked together for a while but we plan on having a really good time! Both bands come from the same era of rock and roll, and still going strong after 50 or 60 years of being on the road is a fucking miracle! I’m really looking forward to it and so should you! We just keep on rockin’! See you out there!”

On the other side, Nazareth bassist Pete Agnew added: “We’ve shared stages with a lot of great bands over the years, but teaming up with Foghat is something special. They’ve got that same raw, no-nonsense rock ‘n’ roll spirit we’ve always believed in. Night after night, it’s going to be a celebration of the music that brought us all here-loud, proud, and straight from the heart. Fans are in for one hell of a ride.”

Formed in 1971 after members split from Savoy Brown, Foghat built a reputation on blues-heavy riffs and a direct approach to rock. The band racked up multiple gold and platinum records and continues to stay active. Their 2023 release Sonic Mojo reached No. 1 on the Billboard Blues Chart and stayed in the Top 10 for 34 weeks. Despite lineup changes and the loss of key members over the years, Roger Earl remains at the center, keeping the band moving forward on the road.

Nazareth, formed in 1968 in Dunfermline, Scotland, gained worldwide recognition in the 1970s with a mix of grit and melody. Tracks like “Love Hurts,” “Hair Of The Dog,” and “This Flight Tonight” remain staples of rock radio. The band continues to tour globally, delivering sets that lean on their catalog while staying active onstage.

This run pairs two bands with decades behind them, still active and still focused on playing live. The shows are set to highlight their shared roots and the kind of straightforward rock both groups have carried for years.

Nuclear Blast Records is bringing Over The Under by Down back into focus with a newly remastered edition of the band’s third studio album.

Originally released in 2007, the record was produced by Warren Riker and captured a specific period for the band, delivering more than an hour of material shaped by personal struggles and the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. At the time, MetalSucks described it as a “snapshot of a band doing what they do best, and doing it honestly and sincerely, egged on by unfortunate catastrophe,” while Punk News highlighted a release that brought together “everything fans praise about these musicians and about the South’s influence on metal and rock. The atmospherics are tense and hellraising as well as hardening, melancholic, and introspective.” The album also landed on multiple year-end lists across major outlets including Revolver, Metal Hammer, and Rolling Stone.

This updated 2026 version of Over The Under features remastered audio handled by Eric Koondel, known for his work with Soilwork, Cynic, Malevolent Creation, and Death. It also marks the first official availability of the album in the U.S. market. The CD and digital editions include the bonus track “Invest In Fear”, making its debut on U.S. physical formats and digital platforms worldwide.

To coincide with the announcement, Down has released the remastered version of “N.O.D.”, offering a preview of the updated sound.

The current lineup of Down features Philip H. Anselmo on vocals, Pepper Keenan and Kirk Windstein on guitars, Jimmy Bower on drums, and Pat Bruders on bass. Colonel Claypool’s Fearless Flying Frog Brigade will release Return Of The Live Frogs: Volume 1 on May 22nd, a new live collection capturing the band’s long-awaited return and ever-evolving onstage chemistry. Featuring four extended performances – each stretching between seven and twelve minutes – the release offers a raw, immersive snapshot of a group that has always thrived in the moment, where structure gives way to exploration and no two performances land quite the same way twice.

The tracklist includes “Up On the Roof,” “Phantom Patriot,” “D’s Diner,” and “Cosmic Highway,” each reimagined through the band’s loose, improvisational lens. Built on deep grooves, shifting arrangements, and the interplay between a cast of longtime collaborators, the recordings highlight what has made the Frog Brigade such a cult favorite for more than two decades: a sense that anything can happen at any time, and often does.

Originally formed by Claypool in 2000 as a creative outlet during a transitional period for Primus, the Fearless Flying Frog Brigade quickly became one of his most beloved and freewheeling projects – a place where new material, deep cuts, and left-field covers could coexist alongside extended improvisation and genre-hopping experimentation. Early tours, marquee festival appearances, and the release of Live Frogs Set 1 & 2 and the studio album Purple Onion helped establish the band as a singular live force, bridging the gap between the jam, prog, and alt-rock worlds.

After more than 20 years away from full-scale touring, the Fearless Flying Frog Brigade returned to the stage with a lineup that once again includes longtime members Skerik on horns and Mike Dillon on percussion, alongside Sean Ono Lennon on guitar, Harry Waters on keys, and Paulo Baldi on drums. That lineup remains central to the band’s current incarnation, bringing together players with deep history and an instinctive feel for the project’s open-ended approach.

In a recent conversation with Dream Theater Argentina, Dream Theater guitarist John Petrucci opened up about the band’s ongoing “An Evening With Dream Theater” run. The tour features the group performing their latest album, Parasomnia, in full, along with the complete seven-part composition “A Change Of Seasons”, marking the first time they’ve revisited the piece in full since Mike Portnoy’s return in October 2023. The setlist also pulls in deeper cuts and longtime fan favorites from across the catalog.

Reflecting on how things have gone so far, Petrucci said (as transcribed by blabbermouth.net): “Yeah, well, we started the Parasomnia leg after the summer in the U.S., in the fall. And it’s been great. It’s been a lot of fun doing something different and creating a visual world of Parasomnia. We really try to make it so that the fans that come to the shows are really transported into the world of Parasomnia. And it’s been a blast being able to play it in its entirety. And it’s cool. I mean, it might be a little self-indulgent [laughs] — it’s a whole new album — but, to us, [it’s been a lot of] fun.”

He also pointed to the audience response as a major highlight. Petrucci noted that the reaction from Dream Theater fans has “been fantastic. It’s been great. We just played Friday night in Mexico City to a big, big arena crowd there, and we opened that show with the Parasomnia album,” John said. “And it’s essentially all new music, and the fan reaction was incredible. It was over the top. It was just as if we were playing deep cuts. So, very satisfying. Yeah. Very, very cool feeling.”

Looking ahead, Dream Theater have confirmed that their April 22, 2026 performance at Movistar Arena in Santiago, Chile will be recorded and filmed for a future Blu-ray release. When asked if that changes his preparation, Petrucci kept it straightforward: “Well, really, the best thing is if it doesn’t shift at all. You have to sort of approach it like… First of all, every show, we try to put everything into it, put our best, have our best performance. For me, the best mentality is it’s just another show. Don’t get too worked up about it. Don’t get too anxious about it. That’s the best approach. Because otherwise, yeah, you can kind of drive yourself a little crazy.”

He added that past filmed performances have come with some unfortunate timing on the health front. Petrucci commented: “Something keeps happening to me, which is a bit annoying, that I keep getting the worst-timed illness right before we film. Yeah, it happened to me many times. I’ll never forget the ‘Score’ DVD from Radio City [Music Hall], I was sick as a dog. And then the Paris Blu-ray [‘Quarantième: Live À Paris’], I got something horrible a couple of days before. I was on stage with a fever, but… I don’t know why that [always happen]. [But] it’s, like, the show must go on, right? So hopefully for Chile I will be okay.”

Parasomnia, released on February 7, 2025 through InsideOut Music, was produced by Petrucci, engineered by James “Jimmy T” Meslin, and mixed by Andy Sneap, with artwork once again handled by Hugh Syme. The album runs eight tracks across 71 minutes and was recorded at the band’s DTHQ studio in Long Island, New York.

It follows 2021’s A View From The Top Of The World, which landed in the top 10 across Billboard’s Top Hard Rock Albums, Top Rock Albums, and Independent Albums charts. Much of Parasomnia leans into extended compositions, with six tracks passing the seven-minute mark, and the closing piece “The Shadow Man Incident” stretching close to 20 minutes.

Fresh off the release of the driving new single “Lest We Fall” and a string of strong live dates alongside Heaven Shall Burn and The Black Dahlia Murder, melodic death metal outfit The Halo Effect have confirmed plans for a European tour in 2027.

The Swedish band, whose members helped shape the Gothenburg sound during the 1990s, will headline shows across Europe in February and March. They’ll be joined by special guests Lacuna Coil, with Omnium Gatherum opening the run.

Since breaking through in 2021 with the track “Shadowminds”, The Halo Effect have remained a consistent name in modern death metal. Together, they lean into the melodic foundation they helped establish while layering in newer elements like orchestral textures and atmospheric keys.

Eight years is a long time to wait. Since Storm the Gates landed in 2018, Venom have been largely silent on the studio front — but the Newcastle godfathers of black metal are finally ready to re-emerge with Into Oblivion, their sixteenth full-length, due May 1 via Noise/BMG. Today, they’ve shared their second single, ‘Kicked Outta Hell’, alongside an official video directed by Andy Pilkington. And it does exactly what it says on the tin.

“It’s one of the heaviest songs on the album,” confirms guitarist Rage (Stuart Dixon). “It’s grinding and straight ahead.” That’s not marketing speak — the track hits like a freight train running downhill with no intention of stopping. What makes it interesting, though, is the angle Conrad “Cronos” Lant has taken with the lyric: rather than the band’s traditional satanic posturing, this one flips the script entirely.

“This one is me just having fun,” Cronos explains. “I’m putting myself above the Devil in the lyric, which I think is an interesting twist. The Devil’s pissed off with us!”

It’s a characteristically tongue-in-cheek move from one of metal’s most iconic frontmen — and drummer Danté (Danny Needham) sums up the track’s entire energy in four words: “You’re not staying in hell, get out!”

Into Oblivion has been years in the making, delayed by the pandemic, recording setbacks, and — by Cronos‘s own admission — an uncompromising pursuit of quality. “This album has really pushed the boundaries,” he says, “but if you want to make a killer album, you pay for it in blood, sweat, and tears.”

The result, according to the band, is something that sounds both classic and evolved. The thirteen-track album features the long-standing lineup of Cronos on bass and vocals, Rage on guitar, and Danté behind the kit — a combination now seventeen years strong, making it the longest-running version of Venom in the band’s history.

Rage puts it plainly: “I’m so proud of this album. It’s astounding. It feels so different, yet so familiar. The sonics are a step up, no song sounds the same, but they all work together.”

The lead single, ‘Lay Down Your Soul’, drew a direct line back to the era of ‘Black Metal’, full of rousing chorus energy. ‘Kicked Outta Hell’ goes heavier, dirtier, more primal. Together, they paint a picture of a band that hasn’t forgotten where it came from, but isn’t content to just retread it either.
