Legendary Session Drummer James Gadson Dead At 86
James Gadson, a session drummer whose work appeared on untold numbers of records over the decades, has passed away. Fellow musicians have been sharing tributes to Gadson for the past day, and now Gadson’s wife, Barbara, has confirmed the news to Rolling Stone, citing recent health challenges including surgery and a bad fall that hurt his back. “He was a wonderful man,” Barbara told RS. “He was a great husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and one hell of a drummer.” Gadson was 86.

Yambag Release Fast, Nasty New Eight-Song, Eight-Minute EP The Psycho
They’re called Yambag. That really tells you everything to know. If you need more than that, you should’ve already gotten it from the headline. A band called Yambag has a new EP, and it’s eight songs in eight minutes. You probably already have a pretty good idea whether this appeals to you or not. If…

You Need Division Of Mind’s New Album Exoterror In Your Life
If you care at all about hardcore music and the people who make it, yesterday was a terrible fucking day. Bo Lueders died. Brady Ebert (allegedly) tried to kill Brendan Yates’ father. Shit is fucked up. I was wandering around in a fog all day. I needed a pick-me-up, and Division Of Mind’s new album…

Cardi B & Zohran Mamdani Would Like To Tell You About Free NYC Childcare
This morning, my entire social media feed is mad about a New York Times article with this viciously stupid headline: “They Pay $34 for Burgers. Should Their Child Care Be Free?” That’s how these fucking guys always want to frame it. Annoying rich people exist, so nobody anywhere should ever get anything for free. Don’t bring that shit up around Comrade Cardi.

Weird Nightmare – “Where I Belong”
With a lot of indie rock records these days, you might feel like you’ve already heard the entire damn thing by the time it comes out. We’re getting used to seeing bands drop four or five advance tracks during their rollouts, and that can seriously mess with the feeling of dialing into a new album…

Leyla Ebrahimi – “I’m Sorry Maria”
Right now, certain forces within the music industry would like to encourage you to pay attention to Leyla Ebrahimi, a genre-fluid young singer-songwriter who comes to us from New York via Reston, Virginia. She’s got an Interscope contract, and her moody, emotive sound seems fully optimized for maximum virality. One of her main collaborators is…

Siyahkal Announe New EP Corrupt: Hear “Full Moon”
Kasra Goodarznezha was born and raised in Tehran, where he studied graphic design before moving to Canada. Now, Goodarznezha works as a new media artist, and he also fronts Siyahkal, a righteously angry hardcore punk band named after a 1971 uprising in which a group of guerilla fighters briefly took over an Iranian police station.…
