A few years ago, the extremely young North Carolina musician Ash Blue Gutierrez signed to Interscope and emerged hyperpop’s great teenage commercial hope. Glaive still hasn’t taken off as a straight-up pop star, though god knows there’s still time. He’s doing fine. At the moment, Glaive is three albums deep, and he just turned 21…
The six-year drought that has left the alternative metal world in a state of suspended animation is finally over. Liverpool’s progressive heavyweights, Loathe, have officially emerged from the shadows to announce their long-awaited third studio album, A Stranger To You.
Set for a July 17, 2026 release via SharpTone Records, the album serves as the highly anticipated successor to their 2020 masterpiece I Let It In and It Took Everything. To celebrate the reveal, the band has unleashed “Revenant,” a chaotic new single featuring a powerhouse collaboration with Jami Morgan and Eric “Shade” Balderose of NOWHERE2RUN and Code Orange. If the “tease” era was an eternity, the “announcement” era is a full-scale sonic assault.

The Return of the Alt-Metal Architects
For the last six years, Loathe has been the most “missing-in-action” band in heavy music. Since their 2020 record essentially redefined the limitations of the genre, the band has moved at a meticulous, almost glacial pace. According to bassist Feisal El-Khazragi, the delay was a result of the band “changing as people” and needing time for the “dust to settle” on their evolving tastes.
A Stranger To You is described by the band as their most sonically adventurous work to date. While 2025’s “Gifted Every Strength” gave fans a glimpse into this new evolution, “Revenant” proves that Loathe hasn’t lost their ability to rewire the consciousness of their listeners. The track is sporadically dense, bridging the gap between funk-laden grooves and brutal, guttural outbursts.
The new single “Revenant” marks a significant creative crossover. Teaming up with the core architects of Code Orange (who now operate their industrial project NOWHERE2RUN), Loathe has crafted a track that feels claustrophobic yet forward-thinking.
The accompanying music video—directed by Zak Pinchin—is a visual fever dream that aligns with the band’s high-concept aesthetic. This marks the latest chapter in a long-standing creative friendship between the two outfits, following previous teases of collaboration that date back over a year.

Loathe 2026 Australian Tour Dates
Before the album drops in July, fans in the Southern Hemisphere will be the first to hear the new material live:
Loathe is a rare breed of band that can go silent for half a decade and return with the same amount of cultural gravity they left with.A Stranger To You isn’t just an album; it feels like the definitive statement of a band that refused to be rushed by industry timelines. Between the Jami Morgan feature and the involvement of avant-garde artists like Mansur Brown, this is setting up to be the “Heavy Album of the Year” for 2026. Pre-orders are live now, and they are moving fast.
Strait up, this band is awesome, and there is little doubt that this next LP will be well worth the agonizing wait.
TL;DR:
Loathe has officially announced their third album A Stranger To You for a July 17 release on SharpTone Records. The new single “Revenant” is out now, featuring NOWHERE2RUN (Jami Morgan and Eric “Shade” Balderose), alongside a full tracklist that includes guests from Static Dress and Jordan Rakei.
Clawfinger’s eighth album, Before We All Die, arriving after an eighteen-year absence, does not seek to save the world, but to confront it — angrily, cynically, and with black humour — with the state it has reached. The record is both a social diagnosis and a release of personal tension: it speaks of environmental collapse, […]
The Canadian band Wreck-Defy released their new studio album, Dissecting The Leech, on March 6 via Massacre Records, offering 48 minutes of tight, merciless, modern thrash metal. Produced by Matt Hanchuck and Juan Urteaga and recorded at the legendary Trident Studios, the album marks one of the most ambitious stages in the band’s career so […]
There are albums that do not simply create an atmosphere, but gradually lock the listener inside their own world. Bizarrekult’s third album, Alt Som Finnes (Everything That Exists), is not merely a post-black metal record, but a kind of merciless self-examination. This material feels as though we are looking out at the ocean from the […]
